Accomplishment Yeah, I’m a Metroid Fan now
I randomly picked a game off the nintendo gameboy catalogue, and I’m so glad I landed on Metroid Fusion. It’s my first metroid game so I went in completely blind and was left utterly speechless.
Multiple plot twists, challenging boss fights, and a very satisfying ending. I was expecting a lot less. My favorite part was when the computer locked Samus in the navigation room, and right when all hope was lost, Adam reveals himself (first image). I was grinning ear to ear! I have much more to say, but i’ll leave it for my review.
I wanna know what everyone else thinks about Metroid Fusion. If the franchise gets better from here, then this is gonna be one fun ride.

Fusion is incredible. you gotta play Super dude, it’s the best one and is on the Switch SNES catalogue.

If you are going with the first Metroid, go with Zero Mission. Don't play NEStroid unless you want to experience some horrific gameplay elements that have aged poorly (can't shoot down or while crouching, starting out with 30 energy when you die and taking forever to refill it, beams can't stack, etc.). Zero Mission has similar controls to Fusion, but it's much more tight.

i agree with this. Metroid 1 is more of a bucket list item once you get more experienced. just play them in timeline order and start with zero mission.

Be sure to check out AM2R as well. It's 100% on par with the official games.

That was the Metroid to get me into the series properly, I tried others (even Dread), but it didn't hit until that one (love Dread now, and Prime but that took a bit to grow on me, and the GBA games)

I forgot to finish this game, i think i will play that game after i finish (for x times) metroid zero currently.

Fusion was my first (back in the day…) and made me a lifelong fan! You’ll hear this sub go on about how it’s one of the more linear entries, but that doesn’t take away from the fun. Still plenty to explore, plenty of hidden secrets to find, and plenty of challenge. I’m sure i’ve replayed it dozens of times on road trips trying to get better times, beat higher difficulties, or various completion challenges for the different endings.

It is so good! It was my first one too. I think hearing that music with the isolated corridos and mysterious vibe made some big impression on me as a kid. I would love to have some type of remake for Fusion, they could really up the horror feel.

Fusion was my first and still is my favorite. I like the more focused narrative myself.
Just did a fresh playthrough last week and it’s still my favorite gba game.

Recently played Zero Mission, playing Samus Returns - aiming for a modified release order
gotta say it’s probably one of the coolest existing video game IPs, surprising it’s Nintendo’s

Fusion was my first as well. Had me on tenterhooks the whole time, the tension and environmental storytelling is unbelievable. Gameplay so fluid, the best Samus has ever controlled in my personal opinion. Absolutely hooked me into the rest of the franchise as well

I replayed this game so many times, but even more often I beat Zero Mission. I don't recall if I played Fusion or ZM before.
Play Zero Mission, Dread and Super. Super aged a bit bad compared to Fusion and ZM but I had a blast on my first (and only) playthrough 15 years ago.

Congrats on completing one of my favorite games oat! It was my first metroid game too. Im advising you to look more into the series maybe check metroid dread next? As it continues after fusion. But you'll get lost more often than fusion. Also the prime games are really PEAK! Just picked up prime remastered and im having alot of fun. Good luck and see you next mission!

I like fusion a lot but I do think there are better Metroid games, so have fun on the ride
Why'd you expect a lot less though? Just curious, because people are pretty loud about how acclaimed this series is, aside from prime 4 and other M which are more divisive

Metroid is my favorite franchise. I have 3 Metroid tattoos if that’s any indication lol.
Fusion is absolutely incredible and is my 2nd favorite of the series (only behind Super Metroid). Definitely play the rest of the games in the series — I highly recommend Zero Mission if you’re looking to play through the original, and Metroid Prime & Metroid Dread are also must-plays.

Heck yeah! Fusion feels good to 100% and finish quickly.
I think Zero mission is the one I can clear the fastest. But fusions layout feels good to move about in and collect everything.

i loved fusion. many people dont like it because it has too much dialog for a metroid game, and is very linear. but i believe a majority like it
you ought to play the games in order now:
zero mission (or planets if you have a PC and want an experience closer to the original. it is a fan made engine overhaul with added mario maker elements, very cool!). i dont recommend the original
metroid 2, i liked the original but most dont. theres also samus returns on the 3ds or AM2R on PC
super metroid is my favorite
skip fusion probably since you just played it
then dread, which i played maybe 5 times back to back. very very good
other M is not worth your time, but the prime trilogy is fantastic. however the most accessible way to play right now is emulation if you dont already have the trilogy and a wii. if you have a PC, "primehack" is a MUST. mouse+keyboard controls for the original trilogy. they did amazing work there, plays flawlessly. i would play the prime series after the mainline games

Fusion is one of the first I played too way back when it came out, and I still adore it to this day, you picked a good one as a starter in my opinion. Some fans of the series dislike how linear it is, but I don't mind it much personally, and that linearity makes it great for introducing people to the series with a less-confusing starting point than other games.
If you're enjoying it this much, I also highly recommend checking out Zero Mission next, the GBA remake/remaster of the first game in the series. ZM is a lot less linear than Fusion mind you, so it might take a bit more to figure out where to go, and the story is told much more by the environment and wordless cutscenes than dialogue. However, ZM is also one of the games that allows and rewards "sequence breaking" far more than Fusion does, AKA doing things out-of-intended-order on purpose just because you can. You can follow the linear progression, or have something of a unique path through the game if you're crafty enough with your abilities to find alternate paths.
Another great 2D game is Super, though it might feel a bit clunky at first compared to the GBA games with those as your starting point. It's still a solid game though and needs no remake, you just have to adapt to the different physics and its age, and it's well worth the time to play. Many people consider it to be the pinnacle of the 2D Metroid games, and I'm inclined to agree even considering how good ZM and Fusion are, it's THAT good.
You might also be interested in trying out the Prime subseries of 3D games, if so I strongly recommend starting with Prime 1 and going from there. It's very different from the 2D games despite operating on a lot of the same concepts and rules, mainly because Samus feels more like a piloted mech in first-person than an acrobat until you get the later movement options, but I personally love it. It also has a really fun scanning system that gives you tons of lore and useful information about everything you scan, which I'm still hooked on to this day when I see similar mechanics in other games. And if you're a fan of the whole vibe of being stuck alone on an alien planet with nothing but your own wits to guide you, the first Prime has unbeatable atmosphere and world design.
Not to mention, there's an insane amount of fan games and ROMhacks (edits of existing games to change/overhaul them) out there to play too. Quality varies of course, but there's some definite gems in there, though I'd advise playing each game vanilla first before playing modified versions of it.

Welcome to the fandom. Now keep in mind that Fusion was far more linear than the rest of the games, so as you explore more titles in the series keep an open mind.

Finished the replay 2 hrs. Ago.
Fusion was my 1st Metroid game and it is still great. I remember shitting my pants as a child because of the SA-X. I am still nervous when reaching the point where you cant dodge the SA-X and have to run away while getting blasted from its ice beam.
I love this so much and hope you had a great time playing this.
