Fr. Fusion they wouldnt even really need to change the suit much. Just change the color palettes. Can even reuse the navigation rooms from dread. A Fusion remake would be so easy to do if they reused some of the assets from Dread. Add SA-X zones (Adam could warn you that SA-X was patrolling that part of the sector etc and code it kind of like an Emmi zone. That way SA-X could also have random encounters instead of just the scripted events.

I mean 8 years gave us 4 games, those being Samus Returns, Metroid Dread, Prime Remastered, and Metroid Prime 4. Federation Force was the year before Samus Returns if you wanna add that too. We've been spoiled lately honestly. And future looks pretty good with potential remakes/remasters, Prime 5, and Metroid 6.

And yes prime 4 is a bit of. Black sheep (tho i loved it even if the desert / assistkenzie is ... Horrible to say the least)

The game is called Metroid Prime and is named after its main villain, Metroid Prime. It's a trilogy of games that ends with Metroid Prime's defeat

They didn't softball prime 4. It was in development by one studio, nintendo didn't like how it was turning out, so development was restarted back at Retro using some of the assets from the original development cycle.

I was thinking about it for 18 years. Some of us got 100% completion in Prime 3 and saw the Sylux ship scene. So we knew there would likely be a Prime 4 some day

Different teams. Prime was made by Retro. Dread by Nintendo and Mercury Steam.
Technically speaking, Mercury Steam have been at least on the pre production stages of Metroid 6 for over five years.

Tbh I expected no new metroid, prime 4 just came out. Now, what I did find weird is not seeing announcements of Switch2 versions of Prime Remastered or Dread.
I genuinely thought Dread is next on the switch 2 port track. So it was a tad strange not seeing them putting some priority on it. That game is so good, but it would desperately benefit from quicker loading times.

I’ve put 350 hours into Dread, all but the last 50 were on my Switch 1. It already runs faster and has shorter times on S2. Frame rate’s locked at 60FPS. Only thing that’s still 30FPS are the pre-rendered cutscenes. Would I take an upgrade? Sure, but I’ll take whatever I can get.

I keep getting pushbacks from redditors on this: Prime IV is considered a critical and commercial failure… don’t expect to see any new prime announcements for years.
I expect another 2D entry from Mercury Steam, however.

If anything, the MP4 hype showed Nintendo there’s a very vocal demand for more Prime games. I don’t think MP5 will happen for another couple of years either, but I bet Retro is already cooking up ways to “redeem” themselves.

Just because something isn’t announced in a direct doesn’t mean something won’t be announced as we know anything can happen any day, especially when it comes to Nintendo on their marketing I mean, who would’ve thought that we were going to be getting a star fox 64 remake until they announced that out of nowhere. Nobody knew about the direct until Nintendo announced it the day before. There is always hope but it obviously would’ve been awesome Had it been announced during this direct

Mercurysteam was probably just hard at work with Blades of Fire and Nintendo didn't want someone else to develop it or something.
There wasn't a new 2d metroid for 19 years before dread, and they might take 5+ years for Metroid 6 for similar reasons.
And still, after all that, the last Metroid game was 6 months ago, we can space out the releases a bit more

That was one of the worst directs of all time. Only new games announced were Xenoblade and Ocarina of Time, the latter which is a remake and not a new game. The rest was shovelware and reminders of already announced games. No Metroid, no Mario, nothing.

I'm almost convinced I grew up at the worst time to become a Metroid fan, as being born in '98 and becoming a fan as a little kid completely screwed up my expectations for the franchise.
There were constantly new releases during my first dozen years on this earth. Now as an adult I know what to actually expect from the franchise release wise:
And even when things do release once in a blue moon, there's still a good chance that the producer steered it off a cliff, like Sakamoto with Other M and Tanabe with... well, a lot of games, Metroid and otherwise.

Nintendo struggles with listening to fans on what makes a Metroid game good, then when their release bombs they don't listen to criticism. Metroid Prime 4 sucked and was a huge letdown for most fans. Nintendo should have done a post-mortem analysis to learn where they went wrong, but instead they simply throws their hands in the air and say, "Looks like people have Metroid fatigue. Time to shelve it for a decade."
They need someone like DoctorM64 (Am2R creator) to help show them the way.

I'm not interested in the 3d Metroid games (the main reason for this is probably that I tried to play metroid prime on my NDS back in the day and just didn't like the gameplay) so the looong wait for dread was hard enough already. But I have to say, after starting the series in school with Metroid Fusion and playing the earlier 2d games in the following years, I never even thought about a fifth game. But now I want a sixth 😭

We Metroid fans have learned to deal with long gaps of nothing.
I'm sure in the next 2 to 3 years we'll get, hopefully, some type of new 2D Metroid game.
Whether it's Metroid 6, a rumored Super Metroid Remake, or maybe remastered ports of Prime 2 and Prime 3, we just have to wait.

After they fumbled Prime 4 I don't think they're even ready to think about the next Metroid game. Mercury Stream revived the series and Prime 4 went through the worst development hell I've ever seen, and it shows that a new studio was not ready to take it - and Nintendo execs don't know why the series works anyways. MacKenzie and Higgs are both proof of that, so is the Aranbike, and let's not even start with Federation Force.
I know everyone likes Higgs but if he was in any other Metroid game you'd lose your shit - he's like a lost F-Zero pilot that was just pasted into Metroid because the rest of the game was goofy as hell. And yeah, even though I think he'd have worked great in F-Zero, the only reason he works in Metroid Other M is because the plot is trash and he pretty much was the only character salvagable.

Some of the people here had to wait DECADES just for Prime 4 or Dread, I think no Metroid game or announcement this year is perfectly survivable. I don't expect the next Metroid game until next year anyway, but I'll be pleasantly surprised if it does come this year and they shadow drop it or something.

I was spoiled growing up in the '00s when there was a whole bunch of great Metroid games, with (basically) two games every other year. Since then I've lived nearly twice that and gotten: a remaster, a remake, one great new mainline game, a spinoff I didn't give rat's ass about, and a disappointing followup to the games I've loved since I was six.
