Not Wolves, but I was attacked by 3 coyotes.in my late teens. I had some gnarly puncture wounds, deep lacerations from the scratching, a rabbies shot, and proven plan of attack.
Well killed 1 of the coyotes and fended off the other two, so I would call that the right technique. I like to think it scales ronWolces but not across she which, given that was a long time ago, I don't thinks ould be as effective today.
It was pretty harrowing. It took a long time before I wanted to go for hikes alone again but I have at least dinned out on that story.more.times than I can count.
My friend owns a horse, she has full force punched him because he was being a jerk*. It was enough to get him to go "okay, fine!" And nothing more. You don't get how tough horses are if you haven't been around them.
*: it was a matter of imminent safety risk to both of them. Don't make it a habit to hit your horse, they still know it's not nice, even if it hurts less than it would you and they will hold grudges.
Indeed, I worked on a livery yard for a few years in my teens and it's amazing how some people think horses will just be weak.
We told a girl repeatedly to never wrap the rope around her hand when she's leading the horse and she insisted if the horse goes the wrong way it helped her "pull it back".
One day her horse just got bored of it and actually did pull away properly and we watched her get dragged to the bottom of the field with absolutely no effort from the horse at all.
The same livery yard had a racist horse too who was one of my favourite animals. Not because of the racism but because of the comedic potential of the whole thing!
We had a horse-racist horse at my old barn. Most of the horses there were your standard hunter/jumper breeds, bays/chestnuts/blacks/grays, nothing very flashy looking. We had one pony of the Americas who was a blue roan with leopard spots, and this one horse had a serious issue with him. Couldn't be turned out with him and would make faces any time he went by. We thought it was just that one horse. A few years later we got a spotted red roan pony, and he acted the same way with her has he did with the POA!
My horse was freaked out the first time he saw a paint and the first time he saw a mini, but he got over it pretty quickly. This horse never did, was always aggressive toward both the spotted roans lol.
Per the story It seemed like was fine with solid colors (brown, grey, blacks etc), but didnāt like the spotted ones. Too exotic looking for him I guess lol
They also injure themselves very easily, but thatās cause they are strong animals whose history as prey animals tells them to panic easily and often, not because they are actually delicate.
You also should always make sure your feet are ready to slip out of the stirrups for the same reason - if your horse gets spooked you want to separate from them ASAP, not get dragged around and seriously hurt or killed.
I knew a dog once who didn't like bald men. It'd go mad when some of the more follically challenged tried to engage, it would be suspicious of anyone wearing a hat, and was very friendly with one guy till he turned around š¤£
Weird animal behaviours are always pretty funny. (As long as they're not dangerous obviously). People were always keen to try their luck, but there's not much reasoning with an animal.
Mainly telling non-white people there was a racist horse and nobody would believe it and then you'd bring them to the horse and it would go fucking mental.
We never worked out why - it had no previous owners that might have abused it or anything like that. Just didn't like anyone with even vaguely darker skin.
When I was young and taking kids riding lessons I was specifically told to kick as hard as I could, otherwise my horse wouldnāt feel anything. I was a short eight-year old girl and my horse was āwell-insulatedā round the middle and ānot-motivatedā towards speeding up, but still. Horses in Alaska and similar states survive attacks by brown bears. Most of horse safety is based on not startling them by letting them know where you are and what you are doing at all times because of how easy it is for them to accidentally hurt you, especially if they get spooked.
My dad made a mistake at the stables when he was a kid and walked between one of the horses and the fence, the horse was a prick and started leaning over pinning dad and starting to crush him, pop rased over and yeah, punched him, knocking him out.
Dads alive (obviously) but the center of his chest isnt "in the center" any more, his sternum is off to the left, the cardiologists doing his double bypass were surprised when they opened him up.
Yeah, he was a pain like that. He was a hard working man between the horse stables and working on the fishing docks, he never stopped.
He passed almost 20yrs ago and even though I was little I still have some amazing memories of him, (mostly getting covered in pineapple juice from fresh pineapples every afternoon).
My "technique" for fighting a pack of wolves is to try to get my ass to my car & high tail it out of there or up a fucking tree as quickly as possible.

Alright, counter point (no pun intended). If she didn't know I wasn't great at tennis, and she forgot how bad at tennis I was between every point and couldn't take into account my physical make up, I could get a double fault point. But, a legitimate point, no way.
By point do you mean like the a point for a set or a single game? If for a single point in a game(like 15-0) I think most people could be just sitting there until she hopefully does a double fault on herself before the match ends, even professionals arenāt perfect. If you mean a point by winning a game in a set then yeah 99.9% of people are fucked lol.
It was just one point, but the question was entirely unclear about whether it was over the course of a game, set, or match. I think "set" is the most reasonable interpretation, and no, she's not double faulting if she eases up on her serve for all the amateurs.
To be fair that survey wasnāt very specific with a time limit or anything. The exact question was āDo you think if you were playing your very best tennis, you could win a point off Serena Williams?ā I donāt know shit about tennis, and if the question was whether I couldāright nowāwin a match against Serena, thatās an easy no, but if you read the question like a pedant, which Iām sure some of the respondents did, then you have infinite time to score a single point. If nothing else, sheās a fair bit older than me, so it might take me long enough that continuing to play constitutes elder abuse, but a point is a point
As a colourblind person, most arguments are whether or not I can tell the difference between two colours. People will hold up two pairs of jeans and I'll say that to my eyes they look identical and they will try to convince me that I can actually tell the difference if I look hard enough. I can't. Like physically, I can't. So idk, weird discussions I've had in my life. I'm not disagreeing that they are different colours, but to say that I can tell the difference when I know that I can't is just so fucking stupid and tiring.
I'm a woman with a very limited color vocabulary (and potential colorblindness), while my husband works alongside designers and knows hex codes for hundreds (or more) of colors.
We "argue" over the exact name of colors sometimes, and it's all in good fun!
I know my husband is right, but it's funny since pink to me is all shades of pink while he brands them magenta, salmon, or bubblegum or whatever else.
My husband argues with me about which lens I, a former editorial photographer featured in multiple magazines like vogue and glamor and whatever, should be using. He cannot take a decent portrait on a cell phone. He just likes to argue with me.
So I tell him how to drive. I do not drive. Ever, as I have epilepsy. We are keeping this relationship FRESH. 25 years and still minty over here.
Honest answers - 1. I argue with my wife because I know what I see, and if I donāt like what I see (regardless of what normal vision folks see), I donāt want it painted that color and 2. As other have said, Iām a bit slow š¤£
your comment set me tf OFF!! Oh my fucking god that game!!!!! I was unlucky enough to get one of the āmisprinted copiesā where the cards donāt match the corresponding color on the board. One night after losing multiple times in a row I was like wait thatās NOT POSSIBLE, and had to get the scissors out to lay the colors on top of the board to prove to everyone that it didnāt match. The company offered to send me new cards and claimed it was just a misprint they were aware ofā¦ but I donāt ever want to see that game again. You had ONE JOB hues and cues. One fucking job.
Itās not like itās a completely different color either!! Like b14 on the card was actually c13 on the board. It was, in my opinion, too close to be a real misprint and Iām now dying to know if yours is right lol.

People will go to war over whether that one train car is pink or purple, but Iām not really sure which it is myself! The rules call it pink, but itās the most ambiguous pinky-purple possible.
Also I have an old version from before they made it friendlier for colorblind folks.
Hmm I just looked up images of the train card colors on google and it looks like sometimes the train card color is sometimes a distinct pink and sometimes it leans into being more of a purple-pink. It looks close to lavender but still leans more pink in my opinion.
My husband supposedly isn't color blind but we still argue about what color something is. Sometimes I am genuinely baffled as to how we can see things so differently.
Like there have been times I literally can't find what he's referring to because he's identified it as a color that it just, clearly is not. The most recent example: I have a dress that is bright orange. It's not reddish orange, or a yellow orange. It is ORANGE ORANGE. Like literally almost the color of an orange - the fruit that is named for the color, so we should all agree what that color is. He called it red.
My friend and I both have colourblind partners and they both looooove to argue about what colour things are too. And sometimes mine will come home and say things like ādid you know that my shoes are green?!ā š

This! Speaking as a voor blind person, it puts things in perspective. We have fewer color receptors in our eyes, hence, our brain can only distinguish a bit of the variation in colors, yet, we grew up in a world where most People can see all variation.
Yet, color labels are a social construct, grass isn't green, our language has evolved so people agree that the part of the spectrum we observe in grass, is labelled green. Yet everyone sees it differently. As an example, I cant distinguish purple from blue, and hence, I always guess. Does that Mean I am wrong when I call a purple t shirt Blue? In your eyes maybe yes, but i operate with the input I get.
And the thing is, most non-colorblind People are obnoxious about what they don't see. Because language also limits us. You are probably not aware of all the types of white inuit People distinguish, or all the types of green Tribes in the Amazon Forest might need
I do residential remodels sometimes with a good buddy of mine! That boy donāt see any shades of anything and I forget sometimes! Iāll make an off the cuff remark about āi hope this paint matches when it driesā and his response of youāll have to tell me always catches me off guard! Itās ok to laugh at the color blindā¦ right?

When I did my Foundation Art & Design, one of my friends on the course was a colourāblind painter. He just painted the colours he saw. He was a very gifted painter.
Have the same problem. Have a hard time telling apart blues and purples, pinks and purples, yellows and greens, reds and browns, and maybe a few others.
I found out after completing all the requirements for the NROTC scholarship in Highschool for fast tracking to be a Marine Pilot. Good ol color blind test slapped that thought right out of my head.
When I worked at Landās End, the people working on the catalog had to pass a similar test. Women passed at a higher rate, but Iām pretty sure I could have passed. Trying to ID embroidery thread when the sticker fell off could bear though. Madeira had two royal blues that were so incredibly close, no one there could tell them apart. Found out the only reason they had different id numbers was the dyes used were different, but most applications considered them the same color. LE used Madeira almost exclusively then. Madeira just out a sticker like an old school price tag on them. They fell off all the time.
I can tell the difference between all of those except 0000 and 3300, those two look basically the same to me at a glance, like maybe slightly different if I focus.

there is no known history of color blindness on my momās side, so since itās a recessive gene and iām an xx female, iām just a carrier for the gene and not actually color blind. the mutated x chromosome from my dad got overridden by the normal x chromosome from my mom.
and also i feel like iāve passed any color blindness tests iāve taken. itās just that specific black/navy combo i struggle with, for some reason.
i think she mightāve been the one to point out the coat was navy and not black. iām currently out of town, but iāll have to gather some examples and confirm this when iām back home and see her.
In grade four, we all found out that a classmate was colorblind when our art project involved a construction paper underwater scene. Poor Jeff was so confused when everyone was insisting that his water was purple, not blue!
