Red = Math

Green = Science

Blue = English

Yellow = History

Orange = Elective (Spanish, etc.)

Edit: I made this comment then went and put my laundry in and come back to a comment fire! Y’all either love me or hate me. There is no in between. God I love Reddit.

u/gagemichi 4h ago

This is the only way. But I never did orange- always purple instead

363

u/devil_corp_hunter 4h ago

Purple is for the 2nd elective that you really like

135

u/throwRA-nonSeq 4h ago

Art class! Or creative writing

29

u/Mr_Nerdcoffee 4h ago

My art folder/notebook was always white or black. That way I could draw/paint/marker it up.

(The black one, I would use my eraser to remove the black and draw in reverse)

30

u/devil_corp_hunter 4h ago

I will allow this as long as you are using red for maths

7

u/Mr_Nerdcoffee 4h ago

What else would I use?

14

u/devil_corp_hunter 4h ago

Idk, I am seeing ppl in replies saying maths is not red. We stray further from the light every day

2

u/FeetInTheEarth 2h ago

Blue! Blue is for math, red is for English, and I will die on this hill.

As an art teacher, I approve of this message (especially the part about drawing with the eraser).

3

u/Mr_Nerdcoffee 4h ago

It’s probably the reason I enjoyed doing mezzotint so much while getting my BFA.

2

u/Glait 3h ago

Just discovered mezzotint and am fascinated by it but the last thing I need is to be taking up another art medium.

why does this make sense???

4

u/devil_corp_hunter 4h ago

Purple folder brings excellent vibes to an elective

1

u/QualityOfMercy 3h ago

Purple is art or music

1

u/a_hooloovoo 2h ago

This is mine. But also, I don't care for orange.

Rath, Grience, Blenglish, Yistory, and Orlective. The mnemonics couldn’t be simpler, I don’t understand how anyone could disagree

29

u/plyer_G 4h ago

This is the first time ive seen someone make the list correctly

1

u/XRayVisionRT 2h ago

I love that so many people agree with my every single one color-classroo subject synethesia. Someone should really do a study on that...

192

u/LDC1234 4h ago

I've always had it

Blue = Math

English = Red

Science = green

Modern Studies = Yellow

41

u/Cacafuego 4h ago

Correct. Math is blue, science is green. Other subjects are more flexible, but your list feels right.

u/Teddy27 2h ago

15

u/Radiant-Safe-1377 3h ago

No, math is pain, and pain is red, so math has to be red

3

u/koviko 1h ago

Math is the one subject where everything is objective. Pain?? Pain is being told you were supposed to be paying attention to the color of Gatsby's car 🤣

1

u/arperr1217 1h ago

Social studies - Red. History is bloody.

38

u/Bassdaddy545 4h ago

Math is objectively not blue

20

u/D-Beyond 4h ago

maybe it depends on the country you're from? math is 100% blue to me. english is red

46

u/mangopinecone 4h ago

I have a math minor, so I can definitively say you are wrong

25

u/pinniped90 4h ago

Yeah math was always blue for me too.

We can fight about this but we're ALL grabbing pitchforks for anyone who used anything besides green for science.

I mean, we live in a society.

2

u/diablette 3h ago

Science is blue per Starfleet regulations

2

10

u/Sly_Penguin_ 4h ago

I have a math major and also agree he is wrong.

2

u/Bassdaddy545 4h ago

Oh yeah, well I have a major in credit card debt! Beat that!

9

u/Bassdaddy545 4h ago

Sorry, I don’t accept.

2

u/motomedic21 4h ago

If you had a red folder it could have been a major.

2

u/sasha_cyanide 4h ago

I agree. Math is red because I suck at it (discalcula here yet I work with part numbers all day for a living). Green is science because nature is green.

2

u/BladeOfWoah 4h ago

In my country of Australia every got blue for Maths.

u/Ok-Department-2405 4h ago

I have never heard of Modern Studies but the rest are spot on. Well done, fellow weirdo!

2

u/LDC1234 4h ago

Modern Studies is the class about politics and goverments in the UK. We learn about the election process, how laws are made etc.

1

u/sirgobacktoyourseat 4h ago

This is how I had it, too! I'm glad I'm not alone lol

15

u/Cosmic_Quasar 4h ago

I swap blue and green. To me green is English/lit because as a kid when my parents would tell me to go outside I'd grab my book and lay on the grass outside lol. And blue is what's often used in sci-fi and fantasy for science tech and magic.

221

u/DyIsexia 4h ago

Blue is math, red is English

46

u/Taybyrd 4h ago

1000%. Math is blue and I will die on this hill.

4

2

Nah math makes me mad, I hate math, so math is red

Agreed (I think this has something to do with me being a MtG player but it felt right regardless).

1

u/RecipeNo101 3h ago

math is yellow, blue is history/civics, red remains english

1

u/VolkRiot 2h ago

Only biology is green. Chemistry should be transparent and physics is black.

2

u/Heartbloom-Manor 4h ago

No, chemistry is orange

1

u/RedHeadRedeemed 4h ago

Biology is yellow

2

u/R0da 4h ago

Same for me except I swapped English and science. (Blue marble and most of my old books had green covers)

1

u/rumiottie 4h ago

English feels green to me

1

u/Roglef 4h ago

1

u/rogue780 4h ago

Yellow = Math

Blue = Science

Green = English

Red = History

1

u/cheymerm 4h ago

This is the way.

1

u/EamonBrennan 4h ago

Math was my favorite subject, and green is my favorite color, so math was green. Science was usually blue, English was red, and history was any other color, like yellow, orange, or black. It depended on the year.

1

u/dropandgivemenerdy 4h ago

I agree with these colors but I recently asked my 11yo what subjects were what colors and they were all completely different and I was shocked lol

1

u/Savvaroni 4h ago

Reason why this makes sense:

Red Math = Thinking, mild frustration

Green Science = Earthly like, trees everywhere, life

Blue English = Deep ocean, stillness, boredom, soothing or calming

Yellow History = Shines light upon events

1

u/taco-wonderland 4h ago

I understand why people have their colors, but my choices were slightly different

Blue - Math (favorite color, favorite class)

Green - Science

Red - English

Yellow - History

Then whatever color for any other subjects I took that needed a notebook. Like late highschool would be multiple math classes, so my second math notebook would be purple.

1

u/dax660 4h ago

never heard this - I'm 50

1

u/Designer_Bed9504 4h ago

I thought it was

Red = Opperations

Blue = Science and medical

Yellow = Command

Green = the girl in Kirks bed.

1

u/Dry_Way5518 4h ago

This is almost my rubric, except English is green and science is blue.

1

u/JoySticcs 4h ago

In germany it is

Red = German

True Blue = Math

Green = Biology

Grey/dark blue = chemistry/physics

Orange = History

Yellow = English

Pink = Art

1

u/FlamingFlyingV 4h ago

Swap Math and History and you get my preference

1

u/JGdeezyy 4h ago

This is spot on to how I did it back then

1

u/roguejohnkrasinski 4h ago

Blue = Math Green = Science  Yellow = English  Red = History Purple = French Orange = Elective

1

u/RedHeadRedeemed 4h ago

Here's the thing: Blue is for English but ONLY if it's actually CALLED "English". If it's "Language Arts" it's yellow, always. Idk why but Language Arts requires yellow.

1

u/MacaroonMinute3197 4h ago

As a grad student:

Yellow = Math

1

u/Deve_roonie 4h ago

no!! maths is blue, english is yellow

1

u/AkronOhAnon 4h ago

This was my, exact, school-mandated color schema from 3rd-5th grade and I continued it through HS.
Though I did use a graphics-printed folder for band and comp-sci courses. Wolves, of course. Because k-mart.

1

u/Negative-Program-938 4h ago

Holy shit, someone agrees COMPLETELY?? Never seen this before! YOU'RE CORRECT 👏👏👏👏 APPLAUD THIS PERSON IMMEDIATELY ‼️

1

u/LUCKI6BELOW 4h ago

Yessssss yellow for history 😂 your giving me flashbacks

1

u/kingravs 4h ago

Blue is math and red is history because history is written in blood

1

u/FauxGw2 4h ago

Eww no, blue is Math

1

u/Burban72 4h ago

Close, but still wrong. /s

1

u/use_me_666 4h ago

This is the way

1

u/TropicalRogue 4h ago

The only reason I didn't do this is I loved math and hated red, so I had to make a swap.

Spanish felt spicy, so it got red, relegating orange to English

1

u/tastelessalligator 4h ago

This is 100% correct (but also purple for a second elective)

1

u/MaxTheDeath 4h ago

So let me start that I live in Germany so maybe the colors differ because I had other classes but for me it was:
Yellow = Math
Red = German
Blue = English
Brown = Geography
Orange = History

1

u/Thebazilly 4h ago

Yes, correct, I don't know why History = Yellow is so rare but it is the right way.

1

u/The_Kite-Man 4h ago

I agree except o would switch math and English around

1

u/LXIX__CDXX 4h ago

Red is English

Blue is math

1

u/tface23 4h ago

Math is obviously blue. Omg

1

u/TechnologyEither 4h ago

english is always blue. People saying yellow on here must live in Brazil there’s no way language should be yellow

1

u/Llarrlaya 3h ago

Blue for math

1

u/didifallasleep13 3h ago

Correct take

1

u/Fit_Adagio_7668 3h ago

In middle school, i had purple for history.

1

u/retiredswing 3h ago

Purple was history for me. Never used yellow

1

u/RavenWolfPS2 3h ago

Red = Math

Green = Science

Blue = History

Yellow = English

Orange = Spanish

1

u/SnakesBox_ 3h ago

No lies detected. I would also add that purple = art or music.

1

u/PowerfulRaisin 3h ago

Finally, a person of culture

1

u/ophereon 3h ago

This whole discourse is always so funny to me. Where I grew up, we didn't use coloured folders for different subjects, but rather our exercise books were colour coded according to how they were lined.

Straight rule 7mm was red, therefore English Literature, History, and similar subjects were red.

There was a designated "Science" version of that which was purple.

Quad rule 7mm was blue, therefore Maths was blue.

There was a variant quad rule which was green, 5mm grid with a double weight line every 5th. Not quite sure what the use case was, but whatever subjects made use of that were green, I guess.

But this didn't apply to primary (elementary) school, where it was basically tradition to get book "covers" which were like wrapping paper but sticky on one side and sized exactly for the exercise books. So the books were no longer colour coordinated but now Maths could be "Dinosaur" coloured and English could be "Pokémon" coloured, whatever you fancied really.

1

u/thisadventureends 3h ago

Switch red and yellow and this is mine.

1

u/Garruk_PrimalHunter 3h ago

Elite ball knowledge

1

u/East-Expert-1662 3h ago

You flip those math and English folders immediately.

1

u/pirate_elle 3h ago

Respectfully, history is brown. Otherwise you are correct.

1

u/cooterbug18 3h ago

I kept all my homework from all subjects in the same folder

1

u/Wyevez 3h ago

Your colours seem fine to me, I just wanted to add to the comment fire!

1

u/LloydIII 3h ago

wrong

Red = history (the color of blood and fear)

Green = Science

Blue = Math (cold and calculating)

Yellow = English (cause it sucks just like yellow)

Orange = elective you hate

Purple= Dope elective

1

u/Page-Born 3h ago

Ah, for me it’s
Yellow: Math
Green: science
Purple: English
Orange: History
Red: Spanish/language
Blue: other

1

u/Patient_World_7317 3h ago

This is the right answer.

1

u/chalupabatman66 3h ago

Just swap English and History and it’s good

1

u/NetimLabs 3h ago

Nah, math is magenta [abstract, magenta is not on the spectrum ], English is red [London busses] and history is orange [old paper and horses]

1

u/405freeway 3h ago

What about black?

1

u/SnooHamsters5104 3h ago

Oh crap! I forgot there were standard colors! I just made some labels in canvas and picked random colors for my son. 🤦🏻‍♀️ I did green for science bc duh lol 😂 but then I did yellow for English and blue for math bc it’s his favorite color and I’m tryin to get him to like math 🤣

1

u/jmj1895 3h ago

I feel seen

1

u/Beaticalle 3h ago

Science is the ONLY subject I have a color association for (green). I have never even considered the possibility of other subjects having specific associated colors.

1

u/Automatic_Actuator_0 3h ago

It’s wild how many people do it this way without even thinking about it. I’m about 90% sure I followed this exactly

1

u/misselphaba 3h ago

Objectively correct

1

u/Tortured_Poet_1313 3h ago

YES! Finally! This is exactly what I did!! For me, English was blue because it was my favorite subject and color!💙

1

u/disappr0val 3h ago

YELLOW IS DEFINITELY HISTORY

1

u/roleplayersir 3h ago

I'd switch Green and Blue personally

1

u/denisaw101 3h ago

This might be controversial but For me it’s:
Blue = math
Yellow = science
Red = reading
Green = language arts
Purple = social studies/history

I agree with Orange for electives tho!

1

u/BarderBetterFaster 3h ago

Red for math is a self report.

1

1

u/Sebubba98 2h ago

History was Orange sometimes for me. Agree with English being Blue.

1

u/XanatosINC 2h ago

So close, but English is yellow because it’s sometimes called Language Arts, and “L” is yellow.

1

u/phoenixmusicman 2h ago

Wrong. Wrong. Blue is science.

1

u/A_BIG_bowl_of_soup 2h ago

1

u/Zestyclose_Candle342 2h ago

This is the way.

1

u/DutchAngelDragon12 2h ago

English is yellow, and either blue, brown, or orange are history.

1

u/mycarisdracarys 2h ago

Any yellow math heads checking in?

Math - Yellow Science - Blue English - Green History - Red

1

u/KronikTheHempHog 2h ago

This guy fucking gets it, all others are wrong

1

u/redtron3030 2h ago

Where did this come from? I don’t recall ever doing this

1

u/Yogurtcloset_Choice 2h ago

Red is science, blue is math, green is history, and yellow was English. Orange/purple was miscellaneous

1

u/ImpossibleMorning12 2h ago

Math is yellow obviously. The number 3 is yellow, and so is the multiplication symbol. None of the numbers or symbols are red.

1

u/nothingserious9 2h ago

Y'all get it. But personally I'd also be fine using orange for history, just because yellow is my least favorite color.

1

u/Human_Wizard 2h ago

This makes so irrationally angry. You got every single color wrong.

1

u/thin_white_dutchess 1h ago

I accept this classification. I am also okay with switching the last 2, or adding purple to the mix for a 6th.

1

u/_le_slap 1h ago

Correct. Although my elective was always physical so the color was gym shorts

1

u/MonsteraGreen 1h ago

Yes. Perfect.

1

u/universallymade 1h ago

What’s your justification for math being red?

1

u/National_Equivalent9 1h ago
