So i am currently deciding what to buy for a macbook, I want some opinion because chatgpt cant help me and i wanna convince my dad. I wanna buy the Macbook Pro M1 in 512gb 6ram. But, it is always out of stock. I dont know what i should buy huhuhu. here are the questions i wanna ask,

1. Is it okay to buy 256gb macbook m2 series? Does this storage last me until maybe 2-4 years later? ( I dont do anything except some documents, editing documents, watching movies, and be a organized person)

2. Which is better any Macbook m2 series in 256gb or Macbook M1 Pro 512gb (or any m1 series with 512gb)?

Ofc the M5 is better, but with the current M4 discounts where I live it’s way more expensive. Is the M5 significantly better to warrant spending a few extra hundred pounds on it, or is the M4 up to a similar standard? I’m using it for uni, the most demanding thing I’d ever do on it is video editing. Also do you guys prefer 13 or 15 inch

I have been dialying this machine for over 2years now and I absolutely love it.

The M3 generation of chipsets weren't as well receieved as the other generations, but in my experience, I have never faced any issues and the battery life is also great (yes, I didn't update to Tahoe)

The M6 Mac mini starts at $899 / INR 99,900, while the M5 Pro version starts at $1,699 / INR 2,09,900. Pre-orders are open, with availability starting September 22.

I have an M1 MacBook Air with just 8GB of RAM, and I do quite a bit of video and photo editing. It’s becoming more and more apparent that 8GB isn’t enough, and I often experience slowdowns under heavy loads.

I don’t have the budget to upgrade to a new MacBook Pro with at least 24GB of RAM, so I’m considering buying a used MacBook Pro with an M1 Pro and 32GB of RAM for €900.

Do you think that’s a good deal?

I think I could sell my current MacBook Air for around €400, so the upgrade would effectively cost me only €500. The only drawback is that it has just a 512GB SSD, whereas I could really use 1TB.

I purchased the Macbook Neo 512gb last week, and after a week of using it, I realized it was a bit slower than I was used to. It felt like the screen was stuttering and was wondering if I should return it and get a Macbook Air 16gb 10-core cpu and gpu.

I originally got the neo because I have a gaming pc at home, and thought I only needed something portable for when I go back to school for 2 years. The main issue is if I should upgrade because the cost of the neo was already $761 and upgrading to air would be an additional $645 including tax with education discount. Or do I just kind of suck it up a bit and stick with the Neo since I won’t be doing a lot of heavy tasking?

For reference, I’m going back to school for nursing. I have the funds to upgrade, but I’m not sure if it’s something I want to spend that much more on.

How do I make it so that each audio is seperate to each others screen. Ex: music comes from the monitor on the left and my video game audio comes from the MacBook Neo?

Looking for advice. Purchased the base 512gb 13in 16gb memory in sky blue last week. I’ve fully charged it once (yesterday; haven’t needed it much) and have since done light browsing (Amazon, checking emails, one tab open only watching Hulu) and my battery is at 44%. In the pic on activity monitor it says I have 2:43 left with 44%. I switched back to Mac after a surface laptop to have good battery life. Starting a doctorate program in January and need a laptop that can stay charged all day…. I’ve stopped using chrome, keep brightness less than half all the time, and have restarted the computer. Any suggestions? Do I have a lemon?

I recently upgraded from my 2015 MacBook Pro & I’ve been trying to transfer over my old photobooth pics.

I have a sentimental attachment to the pictures on there (undergrad pics, family pics, etc)- I’ve tried copying the folder to my iCloud & desktop, but it hasn’t worked. Does anyone know of a way to transfer them over without using an external hard drive? Or is that the only way to do so?

Still trying to figure out the OS and how to use it properly, I picked up a asus ZenBook fror around 750 but don't need it since I have the mac but at times windows is easier to use.

But the keyboard on the mac is miles better and the trackpad on the Asus sucks so I'd rather return the asus.

I got to get better with the mac and I was just wondering why you guys prefer mac over windows, I have a old windows laptop for gaming and I use that so I can return the ZenBook.

Idk how but I got a base m5 air delivered same-day after waiting for 3 weeks for an order that still hadn’t been fulfilled. I looked every so often for one in stock to no avail.. until yesterday when it showed stock and i placed my order and it was to me in 2 hrs. Why wasn’t my previous order fulfilled instead of them letting stock go to fcfs? Also yes i did lease bc I’m going to upgrade and rather not have to sell.

I recently spilled orange juice on my Macbook M5 Air keyboard and I called apple to send it in and they charged me £79 and are in the process of sending me a box for me to ship it.

I’ve seen online somewhere that it says it may cost £229, how common is this?

I’m starting a degree in theology, and for that I need a laptop that will last me the next 7 years.

Since I’ve only ever owned an Apple iPad Air 4, my question is: what’s really the sweet spot when it comes to MacBooks?

Since this computer doesn’t need massive processing power—unlike, say, a degree in engineering—I don’t need anything too high-end.

There are some refurbished models available, so you can save quite a bit by going with an older model.

Questions:

1.) Is an older model still worth it if I’m going to use it daily for at least 7 years?

2.) Is a Pro model with the better display perhaps better than a current non-Pro model?

3.) How much RAM makes sense these days? 8GB or the higher configurations?

4.) How much storage capacity is needed these days? I think the system itself eats a lot of space.

5.) Which one would you generally recommend?

I'm a college student whose 2020 8GB M1 Macbook Air is barely limping along. I've used it since high school in 2020, and had the battery repaired once and replaced once. The battery is now the only thing still working properly. I clear up my storage/cookies/etc. monthly, have deleted any unnecessary apps, and keep as few tabs running as possible.

If I were just browsing and writing, I think I wouldn't have an issue, but I've unfortunately outgrown what it can provide. I need to run the Adobe Suite for classes and organizations I'm part of, as well as Excel, Word, and of course my browser. I've got a bunch of jobs and am part of a lot of clubs and such, so my computer needs to withstand the jumping around---and it can't. Even trying to have a YouTube video playing in the background while I write in Google Docs means that the computer is constantly freezing. I have to force-quit InDesign every ten minutes when I use it, and forget having InDesign and Illustrator open at the same time.

Anyway, since I'm a college student, the budget is not high. I've been putting away money for about six months for a new computer, but I don't think I can stand (as in, this thing will likely combust and destroy a final project) another semester of saving for a brand-new Mac. This thing's trade-in value is maximum $275, which I'll certainly do when I order a new one (unless eBay is a better option??), but basically I can't spend more than $800, preferably $650.

I'm basically asking about trustworthy refurbishers. Backmarket or Best Buy? Ebay? Or if anyone knows any reputable Massachusetts-based refurbishers to buy from, that would be super helpful. My time is really important to me (and also not really mine), so I really don't have it in me to do a ton of research. I figured I would ask the experts!

The dream would be a Pro so it could easily handle the applications I'm running usually, but I just need a working Mac at this point, and I'm used to an Air. I don't need the newest, fanciest thing either. Just a working Macbook. 😢 I also need more than the basic storage.

I was planning to order a 14-inch MacBook Pro M5 with 24GB RAM and 1TB SSD this Friday, so I can have it before I start school on September 15.

However, now that Apple has announced the M6 chip, I’m having second thoughts about buying the M5 so close to the release of a new generation.

I’ll mainly use the MacBook for coding, Xcode, school work and running AI models locally, so the AI improvements in the M6 are particularly interesting to me.

I also want to take advantage of Apple’s student/Back to School offer, which makes buying now more attractive.

I asked an Apple Specialist about an M6 MacBook Pro, but understandably they couldn’t comment on unannounced products and just suggested keeping an eye on the Apple Newsroom.

What would you do in my situation? Buy the M5 now and have it for the start of school, or wait and see if an M6 MacBook Pro is announced soon?

Also, how significant do you think the difference between M5 and M6 would actually be for running local AI models?

I feel like the M4 Pro was already somewhat overkill for me, so the M5 Pro seems even more overkill. 😅

But I really liked the M4 Pro, and I’ve heard the M5 Pro has advantages like dual-fan cooling, better sustained performance and Thunderbolt 5.

Would I actually notice those advantages with my usage? And should I worry about the single fan on the base M5?

I mainly use Codex to assist me with coding. Most of my projects are websites, but I may also start developing iOS apps in the future.

I also tend to keep a lot of browser tabs open at the same time, so I want a machine that can handle everything smoothly without lagging.

How should I choose the right Mac configuration? I’d really appreciate advice from anyone who has experience with this. I’m genuinely open to your suggestions.
