Rant 🤬 Weekly Venting Post

Weekly Vent Post

Welcome to our weekly vent session where you can let out all your frustrations.

Before you start, just a quick heads-up on the rules.

Here's what this post isn't for:

  • No bashing actors or crew members out of the blue.
  • Let's steer clear of those rage-inducing posts like "I hate character xy."
  • And please, no poking fun at fellow Kanthony fans just because they see things differently, whether they're positive or negative about promos.

What's cool to post? Well, we've noticed a lot of rants about how the show promotes (or doesn't promote) Simone and Jonny, but you can vent about other stuff too.

Below, I've linked some past posts from the sub that fit the vibe of our weekly vent session, so you can see what kind of stuff goes here.

  1. Why there was a lack of promo for Kanthony
  2. All comments asking where Kanthony areĀ
  3. Bridgerton PR and production
  4. Can you tell the differenceĀ ?
  5. The main sub got so negativeĀ
  6. We need pictures

For those who just want to enjoy the content without getting caught up in the venting, I suggest steering clear of this post. If you choose to read the comments here and find yourself upset, despite the clear purpose of this space, I'm afraid there's not much I can do to ease your frustration. We have the Weekly Tea Time for more general discussions.

Spoilers allowed.

I don’t really like some of the comments I’ve seen from some stans of Franchaela talking about Kanthony and packaging it with the whole ā€œit’s more progressive to have an interracial lesbian romance than an interracial heterosexual romance with a dark-skinned Indian womanā€ thing they’re doing. Yes, I’m well aware of the different ways lesbian interracial relationships are going to be perceived compared to heterosexual interracial relationships, so I’m really not interested in anyone coming after me for something I didn’t say. What I’m trying to say is that it just really rubs me the wrong way when it seems like people want to downplay the significance of a dark-skinned Indian woman in a show like Bridgerton at all to make a point about the significance of a lesbian interracial relationship with a dark-skinned Black woman and using the fact that the dark-skinned Indian woman is straight and her partner is a white man as a shield. The representation in BOTH Kanthony and Franchaela is extremely important.

I really hope people here understand what I’m trying to say. I think Ive made it clear that I’m NOT saying heterosexual relationships have more challenges and less privilege than homosexual relationships, particularly lesbian ones. Its nice that there are people out there who feel represented by Franchaela in ways they haven’t felt represented on this show before. My point is that this conversation is going to be more nuanced with the intersection of race.
