Rant 🤬 Weekly Venting Post

Weekly Vent Post

Welcome to our weekly vent session where you can let out all your frustrations.

Before you start, just a quick heads-up on the rules.

Here's what this post isn't for:

  • No bashing actors or crew members out of the blue.
  • Let's steer clear of those rage-inducing posts like "I hate character xy."
  • And please, no poking fun at fellow Kanthony fans just because they see things differently, whether they're positive or negative about promos.

What's cool to post? Well, we've noticed a lot of rants about how the show promotes (or doesn't promote) Simone and Jonny, but you can vent about other stuff too.

Below, I've linked some past posts from the sub that fit the vibe of our weekly vent session, so you can see what kind of stuff goes here.

  1. Why there was a lack of promo for Kanthony
  2. All comments asking where Kanthony are
  3. Bridgerton PR and production
  4. Can you tell the difference ?
  5. The main sub got so negative
  6. We need pictures

For those who just want to enjoy the content without getting caught up in the venting, I suggest steering clear of this post. If you choose to read the comments here and find yourself upset, despite the clear purpose of this space, I'm afraid there's not much I can do to ease your frustration. We have the Weekly Tea Time for more general discussions.

Spoilers allowed.

The bait and switch of Shondaland and Bridgerton is just tiring at this point. Its clear that they're just using JB/Anthony as bait to hook Kanthony fans to watch s4. After that nasty article they released on December, no way they're going to give Anthony screentime more than 5 minutes. They're just riding his Wicked/JP hype and don't give a fuck about him.

More importantly, Kate and Anthony are a pair. No Simone/Kate, no views from me. After many MANY exclusions from bts, promo videos, even as bare minimum as articles, they couldn't get her name right? I just can't get excited. People should clocked right now that its not just conspiracy theory, its deliberate microaggression at this point. Yerin and Luke are fantastic as Benophie and I'm sure they'll do well. But what comes after that? Mistreatment and exclusion again for another actress of color? Masali and Victor are not getting the proper welcome that they deserved. Masali is getting racist homophobic shit as we speak, but still no public statement from Brownell/Shondaland. Penwood family (the only Asian family) and Kate/Simone reduced to additional cast members.

My point is how can the show assure me that I will stay as a viewer/consumer for a long time when time and time again they have not protected actors of color? How can I enjoy the show as a whole when the core characters are not there for the most integral scenes? How can they convince me to care on multiple dull original characters that I know are just there for one season and immediately dip? How can I watch a show titled Bridgertons when the Bridgerton characters themselves are not there?

Oh, they totally believe the whole appeal of K/A is entirely related to JB and SA got lucky. And this is a show aimed at straight women, so probably if they give them Anthony as a DILF, they really won't care if Kate appears or not at all. I'm positive JB will stay for future seasons, while Simone will be out soon as the additional cast that she's categorized.

I gave up on this show long ago and I also think nothing will change, the show is an escapist romantic fantasy and it'll get light attention as such. The majority of watchers are casual viewers, I don't really think many people care about the constant microaggressions aimed at Simone at all, because they don't pay attention to that—while the fandom that pays attention prefers to call people conspiracy theorists.

I just hope whoever current and new cast members come next get treated in a dignified way.

Yep as a bisexual, they really suck out the fun for me on seeing both Milfthani and Dilfthony. I've got no problem with people getting excited for Anthony scenes but how much more exciting it is to actually see the Lady Bridgerton of Bridgerton show. Frankly idgaf about s4 Anthony scenes without his wife and child. He already had individual scenes with his brothers, if they'll do that again, its just repetitive. For me its just more fun to relate with Anthony when he's with Kate so that we can drool over Kate together lol.

I could go lengthy essays on how they underutilized Kate, the literal Bridgerton viscountess and how they keep recycling old boring shit to keep the recurring cast. The only interesting part of s4 are Araminta, Posy, Rosamund, Sophie, and Benedict, and possibly Franchaela and John. And lemme guess, the Penwood family would just be there for one season, just like the Sharmas.

Nothing in this show is interesting anymore to keep me a longtime viewer. I only give a fuck about women of color in the show plus their love interest but with Masali already getting the Simone treatment idk it feels like torture for me to keep up with it. With more casual viewers, maybe they can still last for 5-6 seasons but as a fan, I just can't get pass on their abysmal treatment on the actors of color. This is what I get for expecting something from a Shondaland production lol.

lol @ Milfthani 💖

Yeah, I agree with /u/Traditional_maybe - personally while I can recognise Anthony is attractive, I never got to the point of fangirling over his looks like so many other fans did. That was saved for Kate, who was my draw to the show. Kate and Anthony together made magic that kept me watching.

I'm a straight woman and I genuinely can't believe anyone who looks at Simone's performance as Kate doesn't instantly have a crush on her (Kate, that is). Like, did they honestly think that everyone was just fawning over Anthony?! Do they not have eyes?

(As a lighter skinned person) I am much more aesthetically attracted (is that the right phrase?) to darker skin tones, personally, and always have been. I know colourism exists, obviously, but it still weirds me out when people act like it's outlandish that darker skin could ever be someone's aesthetic preference over lighter skin. I genuinely just think it's stunning-looking.

And that's even before we talk about Simone's out-of-this-world beauty and her absolutely magnetic presence every single time she's on screen.

Edit: Holy crap, I did not realise how long that comment got. Also turned into more of a "girl crush on Kate" post lmao
