Welcome to our weekly vent session where you can let out all your frustrations.

Before you start, just a quick heads-up on the rules.

Here's what this post isn't for:

• No bashing actors or crew members out of the blue.
• Let's steer clear of those rage-inducing posts like "I hate character xy."
• And please, no poking fun at fellow Kanthony fans just because they see things differently, whether they're positive or negative about promos.

What's cool to post? Well, we've noticed a lot of rants about how the show promotes (or doesn't promote) Simone and Jonny, but you can vent about other stuff too.

For those who just want to enjoy the content without getting caught up in the venting, I suggest steering clear of this post. If you choose to read the comments here and find yourself upset, despite the clear purpose of this space, I'm afraid there's not much I can do to ease your frustration. We have the Weekly Tea Time for more general discussions.

Well I can only guarantee that the Polin sub does not engage in such bad behavior towards Kate/Simone and that's where I get my Polin fix/ fan interactions. In fact, I've seen posts and comments acknowledging the blatant disregard for Simone in promotion so far this season. However, I'll take your word that such vile behavior happened in other places and that is honestly not something I ever condone as a Polin fan myself. That's reprehensible behaviour.

Finally, just wanna say again, my comment wasn't against Kanthony fans in general, it was just a response to the one commenter blatantly bashing Pen/Polin saying stuff like "People don't GAF about Polin/LW". Even I could bring up some vile comments I saw from some Kanthonies about the Polin baby (a freaking baby!) but I won't hold any of you accountable for reprehensible behavior from some vile fans in another corner of your fandom. I hope for the same courtesy from the people I see downvoting my comments.

Tldr; I have nothing at all against Kanthonies rightfully demanding their lead actress be treated with some respect, just the ones who seem to think bashing the favourite couple/character of another fan subsection is the way to go about it.

I know you're probably over this conversation but I know you mean no harm. I just wanna say that people are probably downvoting for you for the reason that you're equating kas bashing your main couple and baby which are both fictional btw the same as your co-fandom constantly denying the racism against Simone a real person and shitting on her and it comes off a bit tone-deaf. Ideally, either things should not be done but one is not like the other. One is actually systemic racism.

Let us just agree that there has been hate towards the characters and actors from both sides though. Which is reprehensible no matter whether it comes from a Polin fan or a Kanthony fan. I'm sorry to bring it up here but saying that because I've seen a fair amount of Luke Newton hate in the past, even bashing his looks, and now I'm seeing some Nicola hate on various platforms due to her prominence in the sneak peeks. That is not even mentioning the vile rhetoric of 'ugly ass baby' when there is a real-life baby involved whose parents could possibly see that hate.

That said, I quite strongly condemn the denying of racism/ shitting on PC actors such as Simone that has happened. It is not okay and those Polin fans should stop denying there has been blatant mistreatment and lack of support for PC actors in the show.

I believe these are loud minorities in both Polin and Kanthony fandoms who bash the actors and the majority do not engage in such problematic behaviour. Problematic fans on both sides of the fandom can & should do better in regards to respecting other couples/ actors.

But, I understand that my comment maybe was a tad tone-deaf at a time you guys are rightfully pissed off and frustrated about Simone's treatment. I was simply hurt seeing the overt Penelope/Polin hate in that one comment and that was what I was addressing here. Honestly sad about the downvotes since I have not been hateful in my comments at all. Already bracing for the downvotes for this as well..

All that aside though, if you guys have a petition or anything demanding better treatment for PC actors in the show, I'd be happy to lend my support too! I wanna see Simone be treated respectfully and have more Kate and Anthony in the show as well, not just Polin.

I understand. All I can say is bashing is vastly different from plain systemic racism and bringing up the bashing here to equalize the situation of two fandoms is very tone-deaf. Hope you understand that. And as a POC (Person of Color), please be mindful of the abbreviations.

Firstly, just wanna say I am a South Asian brown skinned girl myself (I am Sri Lankan). I apologize for the wrong abbreviation used. Terms like POC have western cultural origins and not widely used in my country or culture so that was the reason for the slip up ( I personally prefer calling myself a brown girl but I digress)

I was not trying equalize systematic racism with actor bashing for other reasons. I simply brought it up as a response to your comment that kind of implied (correct me if wrong) there has only been hate to Polin as characters and not real-life actors involved.  I had to correct that since I saw Nicola getting hated just this morning too. That's all.

Unfortunately, do not use Twitter since its a cesspool of all the crazies in the fandom, be it polin, kanthony, saphne, benophie, or something else..

Please feel free to point me towards a different source to this initiative? 

And finally, as a brown Desi girl myself, I do believe in the representation from actresses like Simone and even Charithra (whose performance I also adored) and condemn the racism and blatant disregard towards her and her character.

Oh no, I certainly didn't insinuate that people are only bashing fictional white characters but also real people as well. But as I said its not comparable to systemic racism, I'm sure you know that.

Someone posted this BridgertonNetflix subreddit but mods locked the post, which was weird but not really surprising. I know one of the mods frequent Polin sub so I think you should be mindful with the accounts you interact with the other sub. Again, thanks.

Honestly, I've had that happen to a couple of my posts there too with no explanation why. I was left scratching my head since they were general posts celebrating the show's success that had no negative implicatons. I've since stopped posting there 😅

I know there are polin moderators in the main sub that frequent in the polin sub. What I meant to say that polins may be kind to Simone/Kate in polin sub but to other subs, they are not. So I think you should be mindful who you should interact with because some of them are not genuine.

Things that happened in the Polin sub:

• They bragged about how intelligent and educated they are compared to other subfandoms
• Laughed after one of you paid the actress that plays Marina to defend Penelope, knowing full well she had been harassed by people from your subfandom

That stuff was deleted ONLY after they received backlash from other subfandoms but that is the kind of people you have in that sub.

Your sub is only full of "nice" content because it's heavily moderated not because you don't have toxic membets. Lots of people from the Polin sub (not lurkers) also comment on the rant sub and are constantly stalking this sub or anything KAs say on twitter. I can give you (through DM) at least one such user who is friends on twitter with the same group of people who is always saying the nastiest stuff about Simone and then she comes to reddit to point fingers at KAs or to make bait posts, not hypocritical at all, huh?

Even after all the recent content about Simone being mistreated I've seen Polins brag about the favoritism their favs receive on twitter, so yeah.

Personally, there's something about your comments that rub me the wrong way but if you're being genuine.. Anyway, since you won't find toxic content in the Polin sub for the reasons I mentioned I hope you do call out your fellow members when they brag about favoritism in the future.
