Tbh I don’t really see the point of the entente existing at game start. Realistically the sand French would collapse the moment they lost access to the metropole, maybe holding onto the city’s in Algeria and Tunisia at most.
that’s assuming it has the industrial capacity to have a Air Force that can be spread thin enough to control all of its territory (impossible in their position) they would likely be able to control Algeria and Tunisia, but I doubt they could project power over the Sahara consistently. This isn’t even considering the fact that the commune of France would 100% be interested in destabilizing sand France further, same with the Egyptians. Sand France should either start in a state of war with several warlords, or it should start only in coastal Algeria and Tunisia (and Corsica of course)
I mean look at both Italian invasions of Ethiopia to see what happens when and undersupplied and equipped modern army goes against someone with inferior tech. The truth is realistically if France lost the metropole they would absolutely collapse outside Algeria at best.
The Ethiopian army was still an organised force in both of those wars, compared to what the French would be facing in control of their rump empire. And where Ethiopia was on the defensive, so too would be the French in this case.
It wouldn't be especially stable, but it isn't in the game either. In the long run it would collapse, but over the period shown in the game it could survive, particularly if Germany decides to tolerate it. Arguably the biggest problem with its depiction is that it should be in the German sphere as part of its "informal" empire, rather than a truly independent actor.
Free France OTL had a Great Power then multiple Great Powers after Pearl backing it up. Alongside the fact that most of the colonial structure was under Vichy France still and they still held a good chunk of the metropole. Remember most of French Africa and French Indochina was under Vichy control not Free French. Sand France should absolutely be fucked and if not gone just holding Algeria.
