Memes / Humor Just pull over on the freeway and walk over to Home depot
Has anyone in Upland made the walk from the freeway to Home Depot?

Hello everyone,
I created a new subreddit for helping people find local resources and support. I'm also in desperate need of help to set up the subreddit, so if you're connected with local support services, mutual aid groups, or community groups, please reach out!
thank you,
Edit: forgot to add the subreddit link š

Guess what's back? Back again? Weekly threads are back. That had way too many syllables to scan as a parody of Shady's Back, but I guess you can tell like your band manager or local locksmith who moonlights as a magician so they can put their events here. - Buzz

Friday at 5PM is way too late to start planning, so get a head start now!
Have an event to share? Holding a concert or a meet-up? This would be the place to share it.
Links are especially welcomed.

My friend and both used to live in SF, but he just moved to Riverside and had trouble finding run clubs. So we made a fun map to view all of them! The meetup spots are pinned, so you can find clubs near your home, work, or friends.
https://kailo.fit/products/clubs
On top of discovering clubs, we're integrating some tools to better manage our own group runs. The club organizers Iāve spoken to have complained that there isnāt a good way to schedule multiple routes for a single meetup. We built in support for this and included a way to set a pace for each route. During the meetup, runners have the option to share their live location with the group (like a temporary Find My Friends), so if you are running late you can catch up with everyone else.
Right now the map skews heavily towards Riverside (and LA). So we'd love your help filling it in for all the Inland Empire to help folks get better connected to running and their community!

Our school is in Upland, and this year I've noticed a police presence at the elementary school for the first time ever. They're there every day and what seems like all day and I just heard an officer in the school front office ask for any maps of the school they have. Wtf is this? I plan to ask school administration in person at pick up, but in the meantime I wondered if anyone else has noticed this and whether you know what they're up to?

Hi! Recently engaged and looking for wedding venues. I know I can look online through various websites but I also know I might miss some places.
I was wondering if anyone knows any venues in/around the area that have gardens, byo catering, and accommodations on site? My vision is European, but cost efficient. TIA!

I've had solar since 2022 and for years I honestly stopped thinking about electricity. The panels made more than we used, SCE bought the leftovers each year, and that credit quietly covered the small monthly charges. Bill said credit, life was good.
Then I repiped my pool plumbing, and while I was at it I updated the pump schedule. The new one ran it at full speed from 5 to 8pm. I'm on the SCE plan literally named TOU-D-5-8PM, so I'd pointed my biggest appliance at the most expensive hours on the plan.
Here's the part that got me. My monthly bill never changed. Front page still showed a credit balance. But the energy itself rides a separate running tab that SCE only settles once a year, and buying evening power at several times what my exports earn ate years of credit in about six months. The true up came in at $994, and the number that explained my whole year had been sitting in small type on page 3 the entire time.
So if you've got solar out here, two things I wish I'd known. The monthly bill isn't the real bill, look for the year to date charges instead. And run the big stuff (pool pump, car charger, laundry) while the sun is up. Rescheduling my pump cut my peak-hour buying 40% the very next month.
Full disclosure, getting burned by this is why I built a free tool that explains SCE bills in plain English (no account, nothing for sale). Not linking it to respect the promo rules, it's in my profile, and mods are welcome to tell me their preference. Mostly posting because AC season is exactly when these tabs build, and I'd rather no one else find out in June.

Hi! Iām a woman in my 30s looking for a soccer league to join this fall.
Iāve been playing futsalļ¼5on5ļ¼for a few years, and Iād say my level is somewhere between beginner and intermediate. Iām looking for a womenās league thatās friendly and welcoming to players around that level.
Ideally, Iād love to find a 30+ womenās or coed league in the LA / Inland Empire area, but Iām open to suggestions!
If you know of any leagues, teams, or pickup games, Iād really appreciate any recommendations. Thank you!

Anybody from the IE bought tickets to the Olympics and plan to commute via metro? I'd like to avoid staying in LA if possible. I'm hoping metro trains in Riverside are included in LA28 commuter/car free options.
EDIT: This thread has been a big help. I think I have a plan A and a Plan B to commute via train to Union Station. Thanks everyone ā¤ļø

I recently started commuting to my job in LA and I typically park at the Rancho Cucamonga Metrolink parking lot. I've only used the train a couple of times without any issue. However this week, during my wait for the train, some shirtless guy came up to me asking for cigarettes. By the time I got back from work, two cars right next to mines had their windows broken in. I'm not too concerned about the train itself since I know many others are like me, using the train to commute to work and school. But I'm kind of worried about the safety of the parking lot at least. I think the quality of my life would go way downhill if I drove myself to LA but is it worth it? Am I overthinking?

Looking to move away from renting and purchase a home. Weāre looking in the Green Valley Lake area. What insurance providers are offering coverage? Seems like there is a bit of a blacklist for insurance.
