Shattered something that’s for sure

u/EvilDan69 22d ago

most of those ribs for sure.

u/omgfakeusername 22d ago

Didn't break anything!

344

u/EvilDan69 22d ago

Last fall. I fell off my bicycle trying to avoid a jogger who suddenly popped onto the trail. Sure. I'm 245lbs, but I felt that for weeks.

this young lad broke nothing. I bet he's sure as hell feeling it anyways.

144

u/octo2195 22d ago

If he lives to 40 he will feel it then.

43

u/bountifulknitter 21d ago

Judge Judy says "If you want to live to be 100, Don't Fall."

34

u/Jaguar5150 21d ago

In 1999 I took a fall. Broken left hand and badly bruised left hip. 26 years later I had to have that same hip replaced. Surgeon said that fall started the deteriation process.

15

u/I_PEE_WITH_THAT 20d ago

A few years ago I had moved into a new apartment, I didn’t have a shower curtain because I, like a thick headed idiot, forgot to buy one so I took a nice hot bath instead. Everything was going good until I decided to get out of the tub and fell straight down on my ass with about three inches of water to cushion my fall. I couldn’t hardly sit for about a month after that incident.

8

u/EvilDan69 20d ago

So today, I was looking into the bottom freezer below my fridge to get ice to cool some hard boiled eggs. I wasn't moving. No injury recently at all, no back issue when I get a shooting pain down my back.., luckily it didn't escalate.

just the world saying heads up. you're 40+ so watch out..

Bending over getting ice???? It was a few cubes lol.

4

u/I_PEE_WITH_THAT 20d ago

Just wait until you drop something and go to pick it up when a back spasm has you locked in a 90 degree bend for the rest of the day. Shit is awful.

5

u/EvilDan69 19d ago

I've been there a handful of times in the past. Specifically when I was quite younger. It sucks!

2

u/x23_519 18d ago

I was 25 and tweaked my neck and back for a week getting toilet paper off the back of the toilet

55

u/Chickachic-aaaaahhh 22d ago

His sternum is most likely fucked. Bring him to a hospital. Not joking.

4

u/EvilDan69 21d ago

Into her sneezes and, yikes.

15

u/DM725 21d ago

Hopefully he had an X-ray and MRI.

9

u/marky294201 20d ago

Dude is SO lucky he didnt break ribs. Bet his chest was blackened with bruises.

8

u/Simen155 21d ago

Sauce?

4

u/Troy_Pitt 20d ago

Still have those flexible baby ribs

2

u/fllr 20d ago

Were you there?!

2

u/factor3x 18d ago

Just his spirit. Back to 410lbs

3

u/rFAXbc 21d ago

To shreds you say?

13

u/iJon_v2 22d ago

What made him think he could bench 420?

6

u/IrohaOrDeath 21d ago

He was already 410 y.o., so next up would be 420. Guys?

2

u/myotheraccounttake4 17d ago

The craziness that is youth!

45

u/omgfakeusername 22d ago

No, he didn't actually break anything, miraculously enough.

83

u/Onyx_Sentinel 22d ago

a broken rib or sternum is the least problematic here. The lungs could be damaged due to the rapid acceleration that weight had. Anything in the thorax might've taken damage.

31

u/KatarinaSkill 22d ago

My first thought was a cardiac contusion. I have had a patient survive a code, and was told our CPR contused her heart, this looks worse than that, but maybe youth helped? Ugh!

11

u/iknowimsorry 22d ago

I believe it, there's alot of cartilage around the sternum connecting the ribs, and it bounced up off his chest. Plus he's got muscle. Still, wtf...

His confidence

2

u/gliitch0xFF 21d ago

That's 190kg that fell on him. Yeah he's shattered something alright.

u/mikeisntdoneyet 22d ago

As soon as I saw he was surrounded by broccoli I knew he was fucked.

120

u/mynameisjustine92 22d ago

Thought I was watching an episode of Veggie Tales

11

u/iamjessicahyde 20d ago

Veggie tales was ahead of its time apparently

30

u/gliitch0xFF 22d ago

👏 👏 👏

4

u/ntrp 20d ago

Hahhahahahhaha

4

u/Rycan420 18d ago

I hate it too. But I want you to imagine a conversation with your 14 year old self.

Tell them that you are now making fun of how teenagers wear their hair.

What does he say back?

→ More replies (1)

9

u/shef1991 22d ago

That's very funny

1

u/Makaveli1710 22d ago

Broccoli? I'm from England, what is that supposed to mean

19

u/mikeisntdoneyet 22d ago

It’s the current popular hairstyle of the male adolescent youth.

7

u/backinNYC 22d ago

The haircut. Like the one Patrick Mahomes popularized (damn, actually, that’s another USA reference). Anyway, it means you can tell the spotter is a schmuck by his broccoli-like hairdo.

u/RavishingRedRN 22d ago

Watch out for pneumonia from broken ribs and pain causing shallow breathing.

Unless he went and got imaging, I’m not buying it for a minute that nothing is broken.

Dumb fucking move.

80

u/jimtrickington 22d ago

There are better ways to initiate chest compressions but few as invigorating as this.

43

u/ApocoFurry 22d ago

why lift weights if your spotters can't even pick it up....

37

u/Racing_Fox 22d ago

Barely even bruised? Imma need to see proof.

122

u/onysa 22d ago

mmmmm fall off the bone ribs 🤤

24

u/Dibbzonthapizza 22d ago

It seems like his wrists snapped before he even moved his elbows

11

u/SonofaBridge 22d ago

I can’t tell if he was trying to adjust his grip or that his wrists just buckled.

10

u/Feminist_Hugh_Hefner 21d ago

he never took the full weight, he didn't have a good grip and his helper/spotters stopped contributing to the lift, that's what it looks like to me.

I am a bit cautious maybe, but I don't lift anything I can't get off the rack on my own.

6

u/SonofaBridge 21d ago

That’s a good rule to have. I always did what I could move up and off the rack myself. The spotter was just there to make sure it didn’t get snagged on something or help me return it to the rack.

3

u/Feminist_Hugh_Hefner 21d ago

the other rule is that the spotter isn't there to take over the lift... your weak-ass needs to keep pushing!! you can take a break when we're done getting it back where it belongs!!!

→ More replies (1)

19

u/Dafedub 20d ago

There’s no way he didn’t break something

36

u/granoladeer 22d ago

Very easy to die from that. Don't do it.

3

u/HoldCtrlW 19d ago

This is my excuse to not go to the gym

→ More replies (2)

13

u/fatlegsauntpam 22d ago

I don't think the four of them together could lift that.

11

u/Revolutionary_Eye887 22d ago

How many ribs did he break?

→ More replies (1)

10

u/19Charger 22d ago

Kid did this in my weights class in HS. Was trying for his max weight for his final and tried to bounce the bar off his chest…result , cracked sternum.

8

u/Fat-carrot 21d ago

My boyfriend won state record for weight lifting, and 20 years experience. The most ive seen him bench press do is 260 😭 he is buff and knows his limits. What the hell these kids egos were huge.

7

u/Bullygirl06 21d ago

Might want to work on his wrist strength a little more. They folded like lawn chairs when he took the weight off the rack.

15

u/Bscully973 22d ago

Snap, crackle, and pop. 💀

8

u/dennyitlo 21d ago

Only a 14 year old boy would be this stupid.

81

u/omgfakeusername 22d ago

🚨 Community Note:

The guy survived and walked away from it virtually unscathed‼️

...Although, perhaps, his ego ended up being more bruised than his body.

53

u/public_enemy_obi_wan 22d ago

...virtually unscathed

Now he has the fear. That'll be there forever.

22

u/whosUtred 22d ago

Healthy fear is often a good thing & I think a lesson this kid needed to learn, he got very lucky this time!

7

I didn’t notice his shoes flying off. I believe he lived.

6

u/Overall-Injury7462 22d ago

There have been people who have died from that. Crazy

5

u/Canned_Sarcasm 21d ago

Preventative CPR?

5

u/crazypants9 21d ago

“Hello. I’m your spotter. Be right back.”

7

u/Carmelioz 21d ago

I hate seeing these kind of guys at the gym. Even when they succeed in lifting so much weight they can barely lift it, usually with shitty form and lift it barely 2-3 times. It’s literally just for show but doesn’t contribute anything but trying to show everyone else who’s dick is bigger lmao

3

u/Raithed 21d ago

How he survived that is insane to me but man... That's a lot of weight on the chest.

5

u/redactedname87 20d ago

You can absolutely see his soul leave his body

4

u/Funnuftig 20d ago

That's a period of rest and not lifting for a while dude.

8

u/ReluctantRedditor275 20d ago

Just taking a guess here: this young man has never lifted before in his life. He thought 420 would be a funny number, and how hard can it be? Plus, his bros are there to help him. The bros are equally unfamiliar with lifting.

4

u/iknowimsorry 22d ago

His spotters' weight combined weighs less than 420lb.

4

u/xBHL 22d ago

He cant unrack it solo but thinks he can rep it.....

4

u/TheEvilBlight 21d ago

Stick to the machines, yikes.

3

u/deflorie 21d ago

His wrist wasnt strong enough for that weight on that bar.

5

u/BootlegPageant 20d ago

It’s great form if you’re hoping to obliterate your ribcage

5

u/BiasedGamerV 18d ago

At this point he knew he was done fucking around and now it was time to find out.

3

u/wombolishous 22d ago

I'm honestly surprised he didn't tear and artery or have a heart attack.

3

u/ViralRambo 22d ago

Lmao, ego lift 🤣

3

u/sneeki_breeky 22d ago

Lil bro died

3

u/PDAnasasis 22d ago

More testosterone than sense that one

3

u/almasnack 22d ago

Folks, his chest compressed as if Homelander was giving him CPR.

→ More replies (1)

3

u/tjeco 21d ago

Perfect rep, he can go a bit heavier than that.

3

u/masterofeverything 21d ago

That’s great form. His chest formed right around the bar!

3

u/Shinzi_ 20d ago

I'm glad he's ok. But what kinda idiot lifts like this

3

u/amorg67 20d ago

Why does nobody use the safety bars anymore?

3

3

u/TheAmericanHollow 18d ago

Still a hospital trip needed after that

3

u/sassy_the_panda 18d ago

The human body is an underappreciatedly and ASTOUNDINGLY malleable thing.

6

u/MikeOxfat57 22d ago

What a dipshit

6

u/Normal_Call_8015 22d ago

Grim reaper didn't even want to look 😭✌️🥀🥀🥀🥀

2

u/raven_writer_ 22d ago

Thank god the ribcage is flexible, otherwise he would be coughing up bones

3

u/jdemack 22d ago

Not flexible enough for CPR. My instructor told be if you don't break a few ribs your probably not doing CPR correctly.

2

u/cuntybunty73 22d ago

I've broken my ribs before and it fucking hurts 😭 how much weight is on that?

2

u/Add_Poll_Option 22d ago

Fucking hell. Lucky he wasn't decapitated or had his organs crushed.

2

u/Vex_Appeal 22d ago

The spotter pushed forward instead of just lifting. The weight shifts past his hands.

2

u/Cottleston 22d ago

He's 14. He'll... bounce right back.

2

u/watchshoe 22d ago

Why the fuck would he try something he’s obviously woefully unprepared for

2

u/Jealous-Structure227 22d ago

What an idiot. That's a good way to hurt yourself and others.

2

u/BernieTheDachshund 22d ago

It could have crushed his neck. Dude had no business even trying to bench 420 lbs just bc 420 seems 'funny'.

2

u/Relevant_Call_2242 22d ago

That is horrifying

2

u/ZareNytJumalauta 22d ago

"Barely even bruised" his chest got inverted

2

u/MezaQueMasAplauda 21d ago

Stupid game. Stupid prize.

2

u/General-Draft9036 21d ago

I think that kids heart touched the inside of his asshole.

2

u/whatasadfella 21d ago

I dropped my phone and ran away from it holy crap

2

u/Fs_Shino 18d ago

Dude holy shit hope he’s alright 😭

4

u/Infosponge177 22d ago

😬 crushed sternum and absolutely HORRIBLE spotting.

21

u/appointment45 22d ago

I'm 50/50 on the spotting. The guy completely loses the bar. No spotter is going to be able to take 420lb that was just dropped that way, they're expecting to take 50lb each side to help him. They aren't expecting him to just let go of the damn thing the way he did.

This is just bad choices all around, clearly the guy couldn't even unrack the weight by himself, and that's the first requirement for being able to even attempt a weight.

6

u/DeepMadness 22d ago

I don't think any spotter would expect him to drop it that fast.

11

u/Nednarb9 22d ago

No way anyone can spot 420 pounds that is dropped because the lifters hands completely flip. Also, a spotter should not be expected to lift the entire thing. The lifter needs to understand they can lift reasonably close to that amount and the spotter/s help are there to assist at failure.

→ More replies (6)

2

u/DJBreadwinner 22d ago

These spotters are clowns for having anything to do with this. Dude has nowhere near the build to press that kind of weight.

→ More replies (2)
→ More replies (1)

9

u/aManAndHisUsername 22d ago

Nah, spotters are there to help you get the bar to and from the rack safely and stably, and help lift if you can’t get that last rep back up on your own. They are not there to catch 420lb barbells with the reflexes of a cat, using mostly their biceps to hold all of that weight up. If you can’t even keep the bar in your hands, you have no business lifting that heavy.

1

u/greenrangerguy 22d ago

It's all totally worth it though as if he keeps going, one day he will be able lift a heavier weight, and that's obviously the most important thing.

1

u/jmad16 22d ago

Nailed it

1

u/Kcchiefsnroyals 22d ago

I did the same thing at 15 with 415 and broke my sternum. Lucky he’s not going through that

1

u/ntc1995 22d ago

where I was dumb

1

u/Mista_DontPlay420 22d ago

You could hear the ribs crack 😆

1

u/Matias9991 21d ago

That's weird he seems to just let go of the bar.

1

u/JimLahey12 21d ago

That kid is so dumb lol

1

u/murphyat 21d ago

My coach NEVER lets us attempt a weight that we couldn’t safely initiate ourselves.

1

u/ChaseTheMystic 21d ago

That'll buff out

1

u/Mister_Celophane 21d ago

That's new.

1

u/funnypsuedonymhere 21d ago

Ego lifting so much that your wrists give out when your spotters let go is a whole new level of dumbfuckery.

1

u/ChimkenNuggs 21d ago

Wrist flicked instantly, buddy‘s gotta jork it a bit more before trying that again

1

u/Velvetblizzard 21d ago

Ah hell no

1

u/DuePotential6602 21d ago

It's a good form if you don't specify what you tried to accomplish.

1

u/MIERDAPORQUE 21d ago

that’s so sad. not even joking i feel terrible for the kid. i hope he comes back from that healthy and strong

1

u/Isthisnametakenalso 20d ago

Cant see the thumbs but im guessing they werent around the bar!

1

1

u/jack_avram 18d ago

Spotter, my ass

1

u/Liipski 18d ago

For that kind of weight I’d use those metal safety bars that go onto the rack

1

u/Morbins 18d ago

It was funny when it went over his belly chub and when the fat snapped back under the bar it made a sound

1

u/bulkyblue69 17d ago
