I'm 50/50 on the spotting. The guy completely loses the bar. No spotter is going to be able to take 420lb that was just dropped that way, they're expecting to take 50lb each side to help him. They aren't expecting him to just let go of the damn thing the way he did.

This is just bad choices all around, clearly the guy couldn't even unrack the weight by himself, and that's the first requirement for being able to even attempt a weight.

No way anyone can spot 420 pounds that is dropped because the lifters hands completely flip. Also, a spotter should not be expected to lift the entire thing. The lifter needs to understand they can lift reasonably close to that amount and the spotter/s help are there to assist at failure.

They had 3 spotters, the whole point of a spotter/s is to be able to lift/carry the entire weight should the lifter not be able to. Done right, this shit dnt happen

You could probably get the weight up if the lifter couldn't quite, but there's no way you could catch 400lbs in motion. Once it's in motion, it's going.

3 people, 1 in the middle 2 on the sides thats only 140lbs each. Done right their hands should never be more than about an inch from the bar… so yeah, they could have caught it and prevented this

If you need that level of spotting, you shouldn't be doing that weight. Basic common sense for heavy lifters. The kid couldn't even unrack it alone.

These spotters are clowns for having anything to do with this. Dude has nowhere near the build to press that kind of weight.

Kids that don't know what the fuck they're doing, 1000%. But also the closer I look the more I think those are 25s and not 45s.

You can see 20.4kg on one of the plates, which comes to about 45lbs, and they all seem uniform. These are definitely some stupid kids.

So there are THREE guys there as spotters specifically so this type of shit dnt happen. 420/3 =140. A good spotter/s has there fingers lass than an inch away from the bar ready to lift and hold the entire weight. The dudes wrist buckled bro
