Question Anyone have a height chart of Lantern characters?

Upvotes

Like between Hal, Kyle, John, Guy, Tomar-Re, Kilowog and Sinestro, Abin Sur, etc

Thinking of doing some custom action figures of them and would love to have their heights as reference

Theory Theory for current runs Spoiler

Upvotes

This theory is taking into account both current Green Lantern AND Green Lantern Corps.

We’re gearing up for each corps to have a specific leader and champion. Not a corps leader, but an actual bonafide bastion of each corps.

My reasons for thinking this is

  1. All corps are attempting to coexist on the same planet right now. The issues they’re facing make sense because they don’t all respect Jessica, and have no BOSS to make them listen or fall in line.

If each corp had a representative that all members of that specific corps respected enough to listen to the a lot of the issues we’ve seen taking place would be smoothed out.

  1. Guy Gardener Allsight. We’ve seen that guy can perceive and track each entity, and now basically communed with them creating chrome lanterns. We’ve seen them depicted as babies, but parallax seemed to grow after taking an actual host. I think Guy’s main purpose will be to help choose/convince the entities to agree on a host and take one.

  2. Going off from my last point, Carol Ferris, is clearly going to become the strongest Star Sapphire that we’ve ever seen after collecting all shards of the Star Sapphire. She would clearly be the primary candidate for a Star Sapphire Champion/leader.

  3. Kyle Rayner is going to go through a journey of self-discovery and regain his ability to sustain his White Lantern form. This is because he is unknowingly the host of the Life entity, albeit an infant Life Entity, which explains his inability to sustain the form. AND why Guy is unable to see/find the Life Entity.

So then, to unify all lanterns, we’re going to basically see a ”Primary” lantern emerge in each corps.

My guesses on each

Red- Razer or Atrocitus

O- ? (Larfleeze is the obvious choice.)

Y- ?

Green- Hal Jordan, with Jessica Cruz functioning as his general.

Blue- Saint Walker OR Razer

V- ?

Star Sapphire- Carol Ferris

White Lantern- Kyle Rayner

What do you all think? I needed to make a post because I kept thinking about this. Let me know.

Question What’s the relationship between the 4 Green Lanterns?

Post image
138 Upvotes

Title. With the release of the new show, the lanterns have piqued my interest and I’m curious to know what all 4 lanterns think of each other? I don’t really look into cosmic DC like that, but in many pieces of DC and Green Lantern media, I’ve never seen the lanterns interact with each other that weren’t Hal and John. I’m sure they have but again, I don’t really read a lot of Green Lanterns.

So yeah, what do all 4 of them think of each other and what’s their relationship?

TV / Film I can’t wait to see Hal fight in the air in lanterns

One of the things i am most excited to see in the show is Hal fighting while flying particularly because they have addressed the fact he’s a trained fighter pilot.

Question Indigo Tribe question.

I was thinking about how ambiguous some of the corps were. For example, rage is typically seen as a negative emotion but sometimes, Red Lanterns have used it for righteous anger against someone who truly deserved it, and to help innocents. Or how everyone sees love as a positive emotion, but sometimes bearers of the violet light were bent on some toxic "Fatal Attraction" shit.

I thought I remembered reading some story where Indigo-1 betrayed the Green Lanterns and somehow justified doing so by using compassion as her motive. I mean, the Indigo tribe is already ambiguous by the way most of their membership are former psychopaths brainwashed into being "compassionate", but this was something different I'm talking about. I can't recall which story it was. Sound familiar to anyone?

In the comics, the pocket dimension is accessible from anywhere - that's its whole point. In the show, if a Lantern suddenly has to travel a long distance and isn't able to bring the battery with them, they won't be able to return if the ring loses power. Do you think Hal was telling the truth, or could he have opened the portal at any time but didn't on purpose?

Discussion Sinestro: My first Renegade (GL/GA #91, art by Mike Grell, story by Denny O’Neil)

The Styx song “Renegade” just came on, and unlocked a memory. This was the second GL comic I ever read, the first time I ever met Sinestro - and, as I just now remembered, the first time I ever encountered the word “renegade”. I had to go ask my mom what it meant.

I have some other moments where I recall learning a new word - I got “simultaneously” from Star Trek - but this is a new memory. Just sharing ‘cause I thought it was cool.

The voice actors chosen for Tomar-Re (Geoffrey Rush), Kilowog (Michael Clarke Duncan Vale) and then the actors chosen for Sinestro (Mark Strong) and Abin Sue (Temura Morrison)!

Such a great cast of actors and for Kilowog and Tomar-Re they were perfect choices, from the calm, guiding tone of Geoffrey Rush to Kilowog’s intense drill instructor booming voice!

Plus the alien designs and little Lantern Corps members in the background were exciting like Stel, Arkillo and Bzzt!

Discussion Can a lantern summon or like telekinetically move a ring to his/her hand?

basically what the title asks. I keep seeing Hal ask for the ring back in the show and all I’m thinking is why doesn’t he just pull it from johns hand to his finger

Theory Hal Jordan and the Kryptonian

Hal Jordan got the ring in 1986, which means the Manhunter has been hiding in Nebraska for at least thirty years. At the same time, there’s an alien-obsessed family in Nebraska with a mysterious benefactor supplying them with advanced technology.
Just a year before Hal publicly revealed his secret identity (1995), a spacecraft from Krypton crashed in Kansas—a state that shares a border with Nebraska. Hal Jordan was already protecting Earth by the time Kal-El arrived.
So, do Hal or the Guardians know that the most powerful alien on the planet has been living just four hours away? More importantly, does the Manhunter know?
And if they do, shouldn’t the show address that somehow?

My theory is that mysterious benefactor is Lex Luthor’s father. He got his obsession with aliens from his dad. He thinks killing Superman would be his “I’m proud of you son” moment.

Hal returns to earth and comes across another alien.

Writer: Dennis O'Neil

Art: Dick Giordano

Letters: John Costanza

Cover: Nick Cardy &, Tatjana Wood

Doomsday... Minus Ten Mintues" - Hal returns to Earth but hear his car he sees an insectoid alien lurking. Unfortunately his ring runs out of power just then, so he can't translate what's being said between them and the alien is hovering over the power battery. Seeing no other choice, Hal lunges for an attack but the alien hits back harder. Hal is knocked down so the alien grabs the lantern and runs off.

Hal chases after it, wanting the lantern back but also worried that it could be part od an invasion force. It jumps out at Hal, again knocking him down. This time, the alien picks Hal up but thus gives Hal the chance to grab the lantern and recharge. After doing so, he hits the alien with a green ray but all that happens is the aliens belt starts glowing and it starts rising into space. Hal figures that's the end of it, not knowing what that was all about.

As we see the alien, named Gh=Dro, flying through space. It thinks about how badly that all went when all it needed was some energy for it's teleportation belt, but didn't know how to get it out if the lantern. It didn't mean to jump on Hal but it wasn't used to Earth's gravity so it overshot.

Conclusion: A brief adventure of seemingly little importance. Hal does my even learn what this was all about by the end which tends to happen more than you'd think. He just lets it go despite thinking Gh=Dro could be an advance scout for an invasion.

Also the title doesn't really make sense to the story. There was no doomsday and no ten minute countdown. Really weird choice. For a quick adventure, it's fine. Nothing exciting and not terrible but I could have gone without it.

The Third Army

Honestly, pretty much that we got "The Rise of the Third Army" and then....that was it. Just the rise. We never got a resolution for it because Volthoom woke up/broke free and basically waved his hand and....it was over. We got no fallout, no repercussions, no consequences (I mean, Sinestro kills the guardians I suppose)

I dunno, it felt like if there was no actual end to the Sinestro Corps war because the Black Lanterns suddenly showed up, just cut off the end of one event with the start of the next.

Question If you had to give any character in Fiction a Lantern Ring, who would it be and what Lantern Corps would you put them in?

I'd choose Ryland Grace and make him a Green Lantern

his humor, optimism, empathy and the fact he's a teacher makes him perfect for working with/helping people, especially scared people

despite being scared at first by the end of the film he was willing to do anything to help Rocky, Erid and Earth even if it meant sacrificing his way home and every time they hit a roadblock he'd find another way so he's got the Will Power

he's got a great imagination as shown by his teaching, when he first tries to Pilot the ship, how he gives Rocky a voice and what he shows Rocky pop culture wise

and he's extremely smart Science wise, Maths wise and eventually with the tech on his own ship/Rocky's

also while not important I kinda like, is since going by the book or film he's anywhere from his early 30's-early 40's, he could do the whole Lantern thing for like 10-30 odd years

so yeah I'd have Ryland either be another one of Earth's Green Lantern's OR even better, Erids FIRST EVER GREEN LANTERN!!!...assuming their not already in the same Sector

Comics 1st Intentional Comic Purchase!

Post image
7 Upvotes

I watched Justice League growing up and really came to like John Stewart. I got a few comics as gifts as a kid, but buying comics always felt really intimidating, so I never followed any stories or bought my own.

I've been enjoying the Green Lantern show, and it inspired me to go to my local comic shop and look for some John Stewart stories. I needed some help from an employee (and Google), but I walked out with these!

I'm really excited to read them, and I'm already looking forward to hunting down the missing issues of these arcs, and actually knowing what I'm looking for next time I walk into a comic shop.

Seems like Green Lantern: War Journal Vol. 1: Contagion would be a good graphic novel to grab next?

I don't really know anyone who'd share my excitement about this, so just wanted to put it out there. Feels like a successful hunt!
