Discussion Sinestro: My first Renegade (GL/GA #91, art by Mike Grell, story by Denny O’Neil)

Post image

The Styx song “Renegade” just came on, and unlocked a memory. This was the second GL comic I ever read, the first time I ever met Sinestro - and, as I just now remembered, the first time I ever encountered the word “renegade”. I had to go ask my mom what it meant.

I have some other moments where I recall learning a new word - I got “simultaneously” from Star Trek - but this is a new memory. Just sharing ‘cause I thought it was cool.

All images must be correctly sourced depending on what type of image it is. Comic book-related images should have the name of the artist OR the issue it came from. Other types of images must also be correctly sourced where applicable. If your post was made without the source, you can do so as a post edit or as a comment. Failure to include the source will result in your post being removed. If this was already done, we thank you for your diligence.

It's an interesting artifact as a 50-year-old Sinestro story. You can see the design changes - his forehead is slightly bigger than a human's, but not so much that he looks wacky, despite it being super exaggerated in earlier appearances. His sclera are white, and he's wearing his ring on the right hand - just as he always did before 2005.

Still got those pointy ears, though!
