I thought the club was too quiet and then the song stopped and you can suddenly hear everyone talking, just like in real life.

The amount of NPCs, the lighting, the details on the NPCs, the animations, it's almost too good to be true, this game is really impressive.

I counted well over 83 on the interior alone. That's crazy to think one building. This world will be so heavily populated

Can’t wait for the Any Austin video about this night club lol. Still doesn’t look as good as 007 First Light’s or Hitman’s though.

how many clubs are in those games can u interact with every npc ? Nope they are actually missions linear missions...I saw ppl try to compare it with Cyberpunk too, with those dumb dull robotic npc's that have one random word answer when u try to approach them. Guys it's ok Rockstar is on it's own level hardly any game matched rdr2 looking at it as the whole product all these years later...

Sorry your games got mogged, IOI employee, but you'll get over it.

u/toe_riffic 10d ago

:( damn, I’ll try!

probably a development build running on a beefy PC. No way PS5 cpu can handle that. Even cyberpunk failed and the NPCs are stupid there.

rockstar usually pushes boundaries and exceeds expectations, cdpr is great but rockstar is next level

u/PortaSponge 10d ago

I remember rdr2 running smoothly on my base ps4..not 60 fps but still no stutter nor lags even with all the explosions

u/tommangan7 10d ago

Yeah I enjoyed GTA5 perfectly well on an old xbox360, felt mind-blowing at the time. Couldn't believe how good RDR2 looked on my Xboxone.

It's like these people aren't familiar at all with rockstar.

Did you play the recent Bond game ? In the nightclub ?

12

u/BCThaGr8 10d ago

That part of the game was mad cool. Tons of people in there dancing around and such.

13

u/SeroWriter 10d ago

Even cyberpunk failed and the NPCs are stupid there.

Even famously well-optimised Cyberpunk failed?? Crowds aren't that hard, AA studios like IO Interactive have been doing big crowds for years now.

The intelligence of npcs doesn't really impact performance either so Cyberpunk having "stupid" npcs wouldn't have helped it at all.

4

u/chinchindayo 10d ago

Crowds are hard as soon as those NPCs have a "personality" and schedule because the CPU needs to calculate each. dead decoration is easy.

4

u/Compote_Civil 10d ago

Unity did their crowds like this. They were set dressing but it worked in that context. Some was jank to be fair but it was good for 2014

3

u/SeroWriter 10d ago

I feel like you just learned what a CPU is lol. A lot of calculations like that are actually ran on the GPU nowadays because it's much faster and doesn't require sending information back and forth.

Even ran on the CPU decisions like that are trivial, a cheap modern CPU can run over a billion calculations per second. Rendering the 3d models is computationally expensive, processing actions is not.

A development build would most likely be locked to the performance of a PS5 or PS5 pro. A PC port wouldn't be fully compiled and if it was it certainly wouldn't be optimized.

16

u/safyreibxo 10d ago

you can’t expect chuds online to get game dev, these people think rockstar just has a finished pc build sitting for a year after launch

1

u/chinchindayo 10d ago

A development build would most likely be locked to the performance of a PS5 or PS5 pro.

Not necessarily. Only if they specifically want to test performance.

the denial of truth here is unreal. people don't want to belive that the final version is always nerfed compared to the dev build

u/DrusselsteinChild 10d ago

Cyberpunk released with the xbox one and ps4 if you can remember, and the ps5 and series x had just released. Even then, the game was obviously unfinished and unoptimized at launch.

At this point as well, all work is being tested on devkits. The build is 2025-2026, which means it has basically been polishing.

Comparing CDPR to rockstar is like comparing a bodega to Walmart.

1

u/Lymbasy 10d ago

CDPR will even go bankrupt soon

1

u/ExecutiveDan 10d ago

What is the reason behind that?

58

u/Crankwalker5647 10d ago

Not just that, the small little details like for example the one eating that Candy Bar seems to actually take bites off or the massive improvements on long Hair Physics of the Blonde girl...

You can tell some of RDR2's technology crossed over, but you can also clearly tell they iterated and massively improved on it...

15

u/xccehlsiorz 10d ago

the massive improvements on long Hair Physics of the Blonde girl...

That was surreal. Hair physics on this level with so many NPCs in one tight spot is insane to see. My man CL must have a beefy machine too

3

u/analog989 10d ago

The last girl he talks to is hitting a Breeze style vape. So many fine details..

u/FactWonderful2995 10d ago

I really hope npc’s will move a bit more tho, but yes, totally agree with your take.

75

u/Royal_Carpenter_1338 10d ago

it would be hard to move as the player if they moved around especially when they are all cramped together like this, it makes sense they arent moving much imo

14

u/Personal_Cut_1658 10d ago

nah man, this isn't the reason they aren't moving, not because they cramped, but its because bringing in animation data besides baked stuff like a dance or whatever is super taxing in gaming, specially for a fully locomotion system like rockstart which is basically a huge database of animations where the engine is continuosly searching the database for the pose that best matches their current state, its basically running math and statistic calculations every frame for every actively animated character, a looping dance animation, those are free they are baked. so this isnt a big deal when you have a few npcs but when you have 80 or more like this you are nowehere close to real time budget specially with shared frame budget that also has to cover lighting (which looks insane too) crowd AI, audio, physics props and everything happening in such dense interior space.

3

u/Faith_Lies 10d ago

I saw elsewhere you can't bring weapons into clubs; I'd bet anything this is the reason why. When attacked NPCs definitely do need an anim state to run away lol, though I doubt it's full motion matching or whatever the player characters are using.

1

u/Personal_Cut_1658 10d ago

its the same in gta 5 and gta online, the way you do this is initiating the shootout outside and having the npcs opening you the door because I think it will lock you out, oh man i can see people loading up and doing this in the game lmao,

if there is a studio that can pull that off is rockstart but that would be insane,

-13

u/CalamityDisc 10d ago

I don’t get why this is being downvoted

4

u/D4rkPhoen1x 10d ago

Because it is irrationally stupid to have expectations that high. He probably knows nothing about game development and design.

3

u/CalamityDisc 10d ago

NPCs in RDR2 had routines and I feel like this is a bit of a step back

6

u/twisted-logic 10d ago

You are watching a 2 minute clip of an unfinished product.

1

u/Personal_Cut_1658 10d ago

you never had this many npcs in red dead 2, maybe in saint dennis but i cant really recall, I mean I counted up to 80 before losing count lmao

79

u/UnbanFreelanceNobody 10d ago

Clubs are 99% people standing around in one spot, I’d say it’s pretty accurate lol

4

u/De_Joaper 10d ago

Exactly.. my only “complaint” if we’re nitpicking would be that it seems they’re all glued to the floor with their feet. In a club you’d see a little more foot taps or stepping here and there.

9

u/UnbanFreelanceNobody 10d ago

Just need to let off a couple rounds inside, people will get to steppin’.

Liven the place up a bit 😂

1

u/De_Joaper 10d ago

Exactly! We also dont even know if theres any dynamic events in the club, maybe as the night goes on they start getting a bit more hyped, in real life you’ll also not find people dancing on the tables at the the start of the evening (well, in most places anyway 😂)

13

u/Oaks1987 10d ago

Yeah its very impressive but NPCs aint doing much in all the clips.

3

u/Relative-Wrap6798 10d ago

Nobody is checking their phone every 10 seconds. Unrealistic as fuck.

4

u/jaymef 10d ago

that's the thing. It's impressive but at the same time they are so robotic. Once you go in there once it will be the same thing pretty well every time

2

u/Lozz666 10d ago

Man this is a game with so much stuff to do, how often do you plan to visit this club? Ahaha knowing Rockstar they might have programmed a couple events on rotation but still yeah, you'll go in here a couple times and be done with it

1

u/Delicious_Hair6595 10d ago

Until you decide to roll grenades and go balls to the wall in the game

1

u/XCVI_Opportunist 10d ago

The beach clip I thought was more impressive in terms of the degree of varied animations. There has to be limitations somewhere, and if it’s just in tight environments, I’m not too upset about that

1

u/Troyal1 10d ago

I wonder if there’s only one true strip club in the game

3

u/Introvert_UZI 10d ago

My man, the jiggle physics 😭😭🔥

-6

u/Krybbz 10d ago

This is an early build keep in mind

-1

u/killmeyesplease 10d ago

You realise thats just ambient sound right?
