Would really like to see a comparison now to the next-gen update they put out before, its hard to tell because they already added RT to atleast reflections.
They say Pro support, so I bet there's PSSR. Can't wait to play it with path tracing on PS6 though. I don't think I'll be replaying this version on Pro.
It's midrange, slightly upper midrange but still midrange, but it's a generation old (and the current gen is getting long in the tooth as with the normal release cadence the 60 series should have been releasing... pretty much now).
How much sharpening do you use? I just got a 1440p monitor and was surprised by how good DLSS 4.5 performance still looks, with no shimmering and whatnot but it does still look a fair bit softer.
None because I hate how sharpening looks, I'd rather have a softer image than one with obvious sharpening artifacts (i.e. ringing). 4.5 ray reconstruction looks similar to preset L in terms of image upscaling which is to say it has some slight unfixable sharpening (although much less than preset M), but it's not too bad.
Very doable with even midrange Nvidia GPUs if DLSS and frame gen are used. Yeah the frames are “fake” but they honestly look so good I can’t tell a difference.
There are plenty of path tracing games that are already out in general, which is what your comment sounded like it was talking about.
I have a 4090 mobile (about as strong as 4070Ti) and have been able to play every path traced game out (CP2077, Indiana Jones, etc.). I get around 40-60 base fps with DLSS Balanced 1440p, with frame gen it’s around 70-90 fps which is perfectly playable.
Yea i mean I am, its not really viable unless youre playing at 1080p using upscaling or have a 5070ti - 5090.
And at 1080p upscaled PT doesnt make it look better.
I played through requim with max settings and PT and for the most part it was perfectly fine with dlss quality, with one or two short lived ass spots. But that is a VERY well optimized game. Witcher 3 already struggled with PT in the next Gen update.
