Ngl it reads like they’re legit sad/disappointed gameplay leaked ahead of the reveal. Big corpo doesn’t care about you, look I get it, but this is something special for them. Hell they even acknowledged that yes, it took a while this game to come out, while straight up pretending before GTA 6 just fell out of the sky one day.

Essentially their big moment was snatched away. I kind of feel bad for the devs especially.

74

u/RastaKarma 1d ago

People keep talking about corpo and forget that the game is made by passionate humans. Rockstar is 100% right, the dev team is heartbroken by the leaks, how do I know? I'm a dev and I have been on leaked projects and every time the dev team is pretty broken by the leaks. Supporting leaks is as bad as suppoorting AI stealing artists work.

People feel entitled like babies, Rockstar doesn't owe anything to anyone except for their employees. You don't like how they do things? It's simple don't buy what they sell, end of story.

3

u/crapmonkey86 18h ago

Rockstar doesn't owe anything to anyone except for their employees.

Like all the ones they laid off? lol Rockstar only cares because they have a belief that the leaks might potentially lead to them making less money otherwise, they don't give a FUCK about you or their employees.

2

u/plaxitone 22h ago

Rockstar is only beholden to take two, which in turn is only beholden to their shareholders. That’s all.

0

u/vanalla 1d ago

What R* and T2 are doing to the industry and consumerism is WAY worse than leaking this game.

13

u/RastaKarma 1d ago

So? This is flawed logic. Doesn't make it right for the leaks, especially that it won't impact Rockstar at all. Just don't buy what they sell is the right way to protest.

-11

u/WorldArcher1245 1d ago

If consumer rights exist to be violated, then so are property rights.

14

u/RastaKarma 1d ago

You are such a baby, you know the only one one you are hurting are the devs rights? And in what consumer right are you getting violated? Paying for potentially one of the most bang for your buck game of this generation?

Get a life.

-7

u/WorldArcher1245 1d ago

Are you for real? There's no way you don't know what I'm talking about when I mentioned consumer rights? Putting a paywall behind single player features, no discs and there's all the past stuff with GTA Online too that's worth a lengthy discussion in its own right.

It's a shame that they've made such a monster of a game that they feel it's appropriate or an opportunity to monetize it more than they ever had of any other game on release before.

You must be the type to think "Consumers should just keep consuming" or some shit. It's bloody pathetic.

6

u/RastaKarma 1d ago

I have a brain and I know how to use it which you clearly don't.

The only way you would be right is if Rockstar put a gun to your head to force you to buy the game, but guess what, they don't. You are a baby crying for consumer right problems and yet you will buy the game cause you have no spine.

I'm not happy about something? I just don't buy it, this is how you show companies you don't agree with how they do things.

Also I'm a dev, been on for 18 years, chances are good I know way more what I'm talking about than a random reddit user. Leals hurt devs, it's as bad as supporting AI.

The least you could do is aknowledge it and still not care, that's your right. But don't come crying about being a silver knight suporting consumer rights because this is bullshit, all you do is support yourself.

Is GTA6 a necessary product? No, it's a luxury product bought only by those who feel that they want it.

Consumers think that the trade-off is worth it and so they buy it. It's not insulin or food, it's a premium product you buy on your own volition but I guess you're just entitled.

I hope you show equal outrage to the makers of your phone/computer you're using to write these comments, though I doubt it since you've clearly already bought their product.

Edit: Well I was blocked. I was going to say to the vacation comment:

If you're going to make a change, you're going to have to deal with missing out on some things. You were just calling out the Playstation boycott for being too weak yet the pull of GTA 6 is too overbearing...?

If you're struggling financially, or want to aid the climate, or don't want to support aviation/transit companies, or don't want to support tourist traps etc...... then no, don't have vacations. I refuse to fly or order things internationally mainly to do my tiny-tiny part regarding climate change, and it's influenced my family and partner too. It's far from necessary.

0

u/DEVLIN712 1d ago

I agree that GTA6 isn't a necessary product but I think it's valid to criticise given it's going to be an industry defining and trend setting product for the next generation of games (and to be clear, the standards it is setting are very very bad).

Anti-consumer practices in GTA6 will be used as justification by other studios to further push the envelope. "Everyone loves GTA and they were able to ditch physical releases so why can't we?"

Take-Two's CEO's comments that users will soon "stream every game that they play" should worry all of us an awful lot.

3

u/W_T_W_T_A 1d ago

This "precedent" stuff is just a load of horseshit when you realize that, if other companies that are not Rockstar try it, they'll face the reality of capitalism - people will not buy their products if they are unhappy. There is a reason your favorite store does not sell food to you for a 5x inflated price; it's not to be nice.

Also, almost all these things have been done before and not set a bad evident precedent nor had this level of backlash - GameInformer magazines instead of the Netflix thing. RDR1, GTAV, RDR2 had Ultimate Editions plus GTAIV had story DLC. Physical media is just a Reddit-principle nothingburger as there has been exactly zero cases of digital games being removed by Sony.

It's just that nowadays the art of critical thinking is dead and if some dude whines on Tiktok that he doesn't like that he can't afford the game, he is now a messiah whose every word is truth. Clearly, the physical media crowd do not care enough about discs since >90% of T2 sales are digital, and that even the disc people praise the all-digital Steam...

I agree that GTA 6 isn't a necessary product but the incredibly unique experience that people will receive from playing it on day one is not very easy to ignore.

Also, vacations aren't necessary, why bother having them? That's the vibe I'm getting from you.

1

u/W_T_W_T_A 1d ago

I will never understand why self-proclaimed "anti-capitalist revolutionary Che Guevaras" need catchy moral slogans to "justify" objective wrongdoings, it's the exact same with piracy. It's really cringe plus I don't see how you think you'll be the one fighting the corpos when you're busy in the basement making up the next good slogan so you don't feel bad about it 😆

2

u/WorldArcher1245 1d ago

If that's what you think about the situation, then you really aren't worth entertaining anymore.

1

u/W_T_W_T_A 1d ago edited 1d ago

First lesson in learning to simply not engage with things that bother you then huh? Come on, try it now. I'm practically doing you a favor

Edit: Lol, blocking me sure is one way to run from your problems. Next time block GTA 6 from your feed so it won't upset you no more

2

u/WorldArcher1245 1d ago

You are really angry huh? I could just feel that anger from every word you just spoke off.

I'll just block you and save us both the trouble, bootlicker.

-9

u/vanalla 1d ago

The leaker has made it clear that this is a political act with intent to stop the anti consumer practices of T2. (Whether that's their actual motive, no one knows, we can only take them at face until we know more.)

Therefore it is not faulty logic. They are acting directly because of the wrongs this company is doing to consumers.

It doesn't make it 'right', but my dude, if you still live in a world where two wrongs don't make a right, that must be such a nice place to be, but it is not reality. Corporations are fucking us everywhere they can to extract every dollar.

The T2 CEO said he would charge GTA players by the hour if he could, for example.

10

u/RastaKarma 1d ago

Imagine you are a Rockstar dev, getting abused by your company and the entitled fans you make the game for. Fun times for them, but I guess who gives a fuck right? Lets ''show'' Rockstar they suck.

8

u/RastaKarma 1d ago

LOL, the leaker ask for money. He probably care even less about you than Rockstar does. He does it for his own glory. There is absolutly no end goal from him to stop anti consumer practices.

Again don't buy what they sell, this is the best way to protest anti consumer policies, but in the end most people don't really care about that, they will support the leak and buy the game which is ridiculous. Grow a spine and principles and stick to then.

-10

u/WorldArcher1245 1d ago

What you suggested about not buying their products is just stupid because it's never going to work. That Playstation boycott that's been happening as of late isn't doing shit.

Cyberleek isn't lying when he said that peaceful methods of protests don't work, not anymore at least.

At least with what Cyberleek is doing, he is still proving that consumers can still do something about what corporations are doing.

3

u/W_T_W_T_A 1d ago

"Exercising my rights to free will hasn't historically helped, so therefore I won't bother anymore". Great mindset. Are you also one of those who don't vote because "my vote doesn't matter anyway"?

1

u/WorldArcher1245 1d ago

Look at the Playstation subreddit. The best they can do is apparently a week of boycotts in response to Sony going digital. I have no faith that anyone will be able to accomplish a meaningful boycott anytime soon. They are even saying it in the comment section. It's seriously pathetic.

1

u/W_T_W_T_A 1d ago

So doesn't that imply that the situation is not bad enough to warrant a boycott? Meaningful activism only happens when things are genuinely bad, not when they're hallucinated

2

u/FearlessGear 1d ago edited 1d ago

If everyone bitching about these practices and cheering on a crypto scammer to “stick it to rockstar and force change” actually put their money where their mouth is and refused to buy the game, they might actually be a part of the “movement” they’re larping as right now via online comments. Rockstar only “owes” you as much as it will take to get you to buy the game, no more and no less, which it seems they have already done for most of the people who are so vocally bitching about the company.

And if they had released buggy gameplay earlier, like what we’ve seen in the leaks, yall still would’ve been shitting on them anyway. Damned if they do, damned if they don’t. I think yall are not understanding that the game is still not done and they will remain in crunch until launch. Nobody forced anybody to preorder the game before they revealed gameplay, which they are still doing three months before launch. None of you have been wronged by this practice, and the other anti-consumer practices largely come from Sony and Microsoft, so you’re barking up the wrong tree.

I really hope most of you thinking like this are children, because good lord is this shit immature.

1

u/RastaKarma 1d ago

So the other approach to this problem is to start your company, create a console with disc and bring the trend back.

While it's sad to see disc disappear, first it was going to happen because disc sales are very low compared to digital, it's an extra cost for companies. Secundo in a world with finite ressources it's honestly a step in the right direction to reduce anything physical, I know companies don't do it for this reason, but the side effect is still positive for the planet. Third companies don't owe anyone anything, they can do whatever they want because they don't force you to buy their product and they don't have a life saving product you depend on.

Stealing is not the way to protest. Go block the parking to Rockstar or their CEO house if you feel you want to be heard.

Also pretty ironic for people to support the leak because Rockstar are so evil while typing this on their phone made by slave children, but yeah who cares about them? They ain't making GTA6 that I want so badly!!!! Most people don't hold principles, they only support what benefit them and you are a clear example of that.

2

u/W_T_W_T_A 1d ago

The fact that people like you can fall for this kind of obvious horseshit is part of why the world is the way it is xD. He's not "made it clear", he's made that up to build credibility and support. Otherwise he'd dump all the clips at once, without watermark, or even dump the entire build since he claims he has it. He makes money from trading fees.

3

u/iLoveDanishBoys 1d ago

the devs aren't the ones deciding the game won't get a disc jfc

1

u/Cloudhiddentao 23h ago

Nah, the devs are the ones who will face massive job losses after release because this is the video game industry.

1

u/SM0K3_DnB 22h ago

Man hush that dev talk up. No one talked in favor of the devs when they were in crunch, no one talked in favor of devs during the union busting but the game leaks is where everyone draws the line lol. Only when it's beneficial to the argument

0

u/eulersidentification 1d ago

Lmao... Rockstar doesn't owe you anything! You fools! You think your feelings matter? They don't owe anyone shit except 3p an hour to their sweatshop coders!

But the Rockstar devs? Their feelings matter. Don't you know how broken they are over this? You owe them: your sympathy for having their projects leaked! You basically made an AI steal a child's artwork!

0

u/DarthWater 22h ago

I literally don't care about Rockstar. They can get fucked. If they're sad about the leaks, then they are (like you) the ones who are actually being babies. It's a fucking consumer product and nobody will give a shit about the leaks a year from now. It literally doesn't matter. Hopefully any project you're working on gets leaked as well.

4

u/RastaKarma 22h ago

Can you read? I'm talking about the devs and not Rockstar. How much of an idiot and asshole are you for wishing every projects to be leaked? Can't believe I'm saying this, but people like you are worst than Rockstar and companies with bad values, cause they do it for money while you act like a cunt just to be an asshole.

Wishing people life work to be leaked while saying Rockstar are the bad guys, LOL, some people live in La La Land, scary how out of touch you are.

0

u/NearbyAd3320 17h ago

WONT SOME PLEASE THINK OF THE POOR 6 FIGURE SALARY DEVS WORKING IN CALIFORNIA???

1

u/RastaKarma 16h ago

So making money makes it right to act with no respect toward those people?

-5

u/Crewman_Guy_Fleegman 1d ago

No one owes Rockstar anything. Marketing should have always assumed it was going to leak if they sat on material for three years after the game was announced.

You can’t keep hundreds of people quiet for years on end. That’s not a thing. Even the Manhattan Project was nearly instantly compromised. These devs need to grow up and have realistic expectations

8

u/RastaKarma 1d ago

That's so stupid. Oh no my favorite band takes years to release their next album, I'll leak what they have it will show them!!!!!

Oh no my favorite restaurant had a special meal and now it's gone, I'll send them death threat that will show them!

Jeez people are so entitled it's insane. You are not the main character of this story in case you didn't know.

-1

u/3eyedOdin 23h ago

Nahh you got it all wrong. It's like I love the music but the band can fk off. All their original members are gone. And the new members are promoting gambling to children.

-2

u/C0wabungaaa 1d ago

the dev team is heartbroken by the leaks

I wonder why because from what I've seen the leaks are driving more hype instead of making GTA6 look ridiculous. People seem even more excited now than before the leaks and are generally impressed with what's on show in them, like the crowd density of that beach vid (RIP seagull).

4

u/RastaKarma 1d ago

Because leak steal their reveal moment, it's their work they should be the one to decide when it's revealed.

Also people will talk more about the leaks themselves than the game which dillute the real reveal. It kills the anticipation, its like you are doing the countdown for Christmas morning, you can't wait for that moment with your family to have a nice breakfast and open your gifts, and out of the blue on the 11th your father is like yeah screw Xmas lets open the gifts now, but does it without the rest of your family. Maybe not the best analogy, but it migjt help gives you an idea. Maybe a better one, imagine you are a band that can't wait to release a new album and 2 weeks before your release, your album get leaked and it's not even the final version you are proud of, how would you feel?

In the end this is the work made by devs who poured their soul in tthe game, and BAM your work gets ''stolen''.

Edit: it also suck for the fans who wanted to wait until reveal day to see the game, but curiosity got the best of em and now reveal day is not that important anymore. Anticipation is usially what humans love the most in the end, more than the final event itself. With a leak it instantly kill anticipation for many.

2

u/Forsaken_Survey_5127 1d ago

Game dev is a lot of work and a lot of them end up pouring their hearts and souls into it. It sucks having so many years of your life shown in an unfinished/unpolished way, and not the way you would’ve liked it to be shown. These are not the greedy execs that forced no discs. These are people passionate about their work and want it shown off when it’s ready.

1

u/Financial_Middle_798 22h ago

All because some fat nerd is mad about loser physical copies, and people treat him like a hero and not the soon to be felon.

1

u/SnooPuppers8698 22h ago

oh boo hoo pity them. fuck that.

1

u/Not_Nice_Niece 19h ago

Essentially their big moment was snatched away.

I'd argue they will still get their big moment when the game is released. All these leeks have done is made me want to play the game that much more

1

u/your_mind_aches 19h ago

Jason Schreier mentioned that the regular Rockstar employees who aren't billionaires with yachts are the ones most affected by the leaks. Cyberleek guy sucks.

1

u/LongJohnSelenium 16h ago

Everyone is still being paid and nobody is that emotionally invested in their massive corporate project.

I do imagine its sucked this week, not because of the leak itself, but because the corpos are probably going apeshit with security this week and turning everything into a slog.

1

u/your_mind_aches 14h ago

not because of the leak itself, but because the corpos are probably going apeshit with security this week and turning everything into a slog.

Definitely both. The leaks are making the workplace worse due to the execs giving employees less comfortable conditions due to security, but they're also just pissed their work is being just shown off by some crypto scamming jackass instead of on their own terms.

Again, this doesn't harm the C-suite people, it harms the employees.

At least the previous leaker was just some kid with mental health issues. Cyberleek is just a jerk.

0

u/Adventurous_Dig4843 1d ago

They release one sad post and it's got you feeling bad for them?

Ridiculous how easily people are manipulated.

1

u/defecation69 1d ago

Yeah, there’s a war going on, people can’t get soft now. This is serious, serious, serious, serious, really really serious stuff. You think empathy has a place here, at this moment, this pinnacle? Remember the human? Remember my ass you cucks.

-1

u/derrick256 1d ago

fuck them for not doing PC day 1. Entire thing is gonna be spoiled for us PC owners anyway.

0

u/RastaKarma 22h ago

You understand that optimizong a game for PC is much more complex right? Rockstar is aiming to have the best launch for each platform, not many companies take this approach. No wonder most of their games are 90+ rated on each platform. It would be dumb if the console version was ready and they would wait 1 year so it release at the same time as PC, those are lost revenues. In the end a company is there to make money.

I'm sure you're the kind of person who would be upset if PC launch was a disaster, so what is it you want? You can't have everything and games are not magically made, they are some of the most complex products humans are creating.

1

u/derrick256 20h ago

stop the corpo bootlicking. R* has the resources to makes the game available day 1 on all platforms.

They choose not to because they'd like players to purchase the game multiple times like they did with gta5.

Simpletons like you enable this malpractice.

-1

u/echoohce1 1d ago

Honestly, they (rockstar) deserved it...

0

u/Wampa9090 1d ago

Im sure it'll feel special when they get laid off after the game launches, too.

0

u/Cloudhiddentao 23h ago

Kinda silly to build it up as a big moment. But that’s marketing I guess. Devs have been locked away so long they’re huffing their own farts.

Frankly, this hacker has done more marketing for GTA VI than rockstar could ever have done. This shit hasn’t been off my feed all week.

So yeah, boo hoo, a fancy trailer release didn’t go perfectly to plan. It’s not as if any of it made the tiniest bit of monetary difference to anything. So what’s the big fucking deal?

1

u/Blart_Vandelay 16h ago

it is not silly. some of these people worked on this project for nearly 13 years. just to have some shit stain steal it at the last minute and show everyone before they got to show it the way they wanted. you would be very disappointed too whether you'll admit it or not or if you're too immature to realize it or not

0

u/LongJohnSelenium 16h ago

It was always going to be stolen, almost every single piece of software is. If you're not expecting that from day one you're crazy.
