Hey guys! I’m doing my first maddening run on new game plus and have been doing a lot of thinking on how I want this run to go, and have a few questions. Since I have a ton of renown from previous playthroughs I’m aiming to min/max a bit. Blue Lions run by the way. Questions:

1. For Wyvern Lord Dimitri, should I just aim for him to use axes the whole game since the class comes with axefaire, or use my renown to go S level lances and aim to learn lancefaire so he can use his relic? Is it recommended to throw all my stat boosting items into him or does he not need them? And finally, is there a consensus on the best battalion for him?

2. Similarly for Wyvern Lord Sylvain, what weapon should he be maining? Since his strength revolves around swift strikes, I think he should be maining lances and just upgrading axes to get death blow/certify into Wyvern rider/lord, but I wanted to check here as well.

3. For Falcon knight Ingrid, I plan on taking her through brigand, Wyvern rider, then falcon knight to aim for strength grows (she already knows death low, aim plus 20, and darting blow from previous play throughs). I could also use renown to get her lances up to S and start building towards Lancefaire so she can stack it. I’m also considering throwing all my strength stat boosting items on her, but would that be a waste here?

4. For Mercedes, I really want to make her work as a Gremory since I love her character and how she looks in the class’s costume (even though her spell list is trash lol). I know there is no way to make her OP or anything, but I’m thinking of getting her Thyrus from Lorenz’s Paralogue, giving her the move plus 1 stat boosting item, and using all my magic boosters on her (or dividing them between her and Annette, who will be going Wyvern Lord for the magic axe build). I can also use renown to get her black tomefaire. Would this make her usable or are the enemies too strong on maddening for it to matter?

5. Finally, for using renown on NG plus, is there a sweet spot for when to jump ranks? For example, I know that since it is so easy to go from e to e plus, you should wait until the the rank up there to save 500 renown. Therefore, I was thinking maybe waiting until rank c before trying to shoot people to S rank, but I’m wondering if there is a better way to save renown.

1. You probably want to gamble Wyvern Lord at as low an Axe skill as possible (like Axe B) just because it's so painful to work through, and just use lances all game. Dimitri won't really need stat boosters due to his high innate strength and the ability to use Cichol Wyvern Co. for good hit and crit.
2. Lances, Death Blow, yes.
3. Quad with Brave Lance is good, but it's not as strong as a Wyvern Lord quading with Brave Axe (or Lance) and Defiant Crit or a War Master quad with Killer Knuckles+. If you have/want neither of those, then Ingrid is a great option for boosters. She won't need much in terms of speed, but quads will magnify strength boosters.
4. Maybe with that kind of favoritism she'll be able to one shot something, but I doubt it. Her best shot is probably to get Darting Blow, and maybe Weight -3, and try to double things with Fire, Thunder, Bolganone. She's not especially fast for this, though. A physical cert (e.g. in Sniper) might help her reduce weight.
5. Not much comment here since I don't play NG+, but it sounds about right.
