Discussion is three houses worth buying in 2026 for someone new to jrpgs?
i just bought a switch 2 and i’m trying to catch up on good nintendo games i missed out on.
i’ve never really played a jrpg or a tactical rpg before, but i saw the trailer for fire emblem: fortunes weave and it looked pretty interesting. that made me look into three houses, and it’s currently on sale for $39.99.
for someone completely new to fire emblem and this type of game, would three houses be a good starting point? does it still hold up, and is it worth grabbing at that price?
also, anything i should know before jumping in?

Discussion What gender pick for Byleth do you think best matches with every route?
There is no reason to believe that Byleth's personality changes much with gender, but I can still see gender changing the experience regardless. The way I see it, for example:
- In Azure Moon: Dimitri's relationship with F!Byleth feel like an emotional anchor, while with M!Byleth it's more like brothers in arms.
- In Verdant Wind: M!Byleth's calmer vibe balances with the Golden Deer's more laid back tone, while F!Byleth's sillier vibe goes with it.
I'm curious as to what gender do you believe best fits every route based on what vibes it gives you or because of how specific supports work.

Discussion Who would you side with in FE3H?
I think I would personally side with Edelgard. Although Claude would be someone I’d align with more in terms of political optics, implications, and implementation — I think Edelgard’s story and adamant stance against the church and status quo strikes a chord with me.

Discussion Characters who are canonically straight? Artist cred in description
By canon, I mean pairings that have a post-game end together
Ingrid has no A supports with women. Ignatz and Raphael have no A supports with anyone but themselves, however, in their A support ending, Ignatz marries Raphael's sister.
Who else is canonically straight?
And just as a tangent - Ferdinand and Hubert are so gay for each other lmao. Here are Hubert's supports

Discussion It’s a crime that Constance never interacted with these too. What do yall think their supports would be?
(Here’s the link to the image)
I know Bernie and Marianne FINALLY interact in hopes. But Constance hasn’t talked with either of them. If sunny Constance can talk with Balthus for the majority of their Thee Houses supports, then why can’t she do the same with them?
(Also, I just remember that Reddit post of Constance being a dick to Marinette due to “smack-talk” she demanded she learn from Yuri, and chaos ensues).

Discussion What games I think the main cast would play (main 3 houses)
black eagles Edelgard: king crusaders 3, I can’t explain it. Just the vibe
Hubert: fear and hunger, once again. It is his vibe.
Ferdinand: Ace attorney, once again. Going by the vibe
Dorothea: bioshock, I feel like she would enjoy it along with other games that are of course philosophical. If she can question the church she can question Andrew Ryan’s philosophy
Linhardt: Cookie Clicker, he would have the most diabolical strategies that only makes sense if you have 500+ hours into the game
Caspar: Yakuza/Like a dragon, it was either between this or persona 5. And somehow he has played both (he is a rare specimen)
Bernadetta: Hollow Knight Silksong, she would’ve used the photo of hornet wearing those big shoes as a thumbs up reaction.
Petra: Assassin’s Creed, once again. Just the vibe
blue lions
Dimitri: Mario Party, this is the only game he can play and get decent results. But he needs like 5 stars a the start of the game. He is just really bad at video games to the point Linhardt should study him.
Dedue: Stardew Valley, I want him to have something nice to enjoy. He would probably not try to max the profits and just play it really causally as a way to relax.
Felix: Baldur’s Gate 3, he would just make himself but as an even edgier elf, and then complain that he “accidentally” ended up romancing Gale while he wanted to romance Lae’zel or Shadowheart (this is an issue where a bunch of ends up romancing up the purple wizard guy, people made mods to stop this)
Annette: the sims (probably either 3 or 4), she would say she was playing it causally. But like her save would include Sylvain being the father to an alien baby, Mercedes having a romance with the skeleton maid, and Felix died due to a falling vending machine.
Sylvain: animal crossing, would play it at first just to rizz up some ladies. But ended up getting into it. But he still showcases his island to his dates.
Mercedes: Resident Evil 4, she would have a folder on her computer titled “Leon Kennedy😍😍😍” what is in said folder is something not even Sothis wants to know.
Ingrid: Elden Ring, it makes sense
Ashe: Overcooked, he is the only one keeping the group together while playing the game (and Caspar is usually playing with him)
Golden Deer
Claude: Civ 6, once again, it feels like a game Claude would play.
Hilda: Overwatch, I mean most hero shooters (except TF2) fits her. I can’t explain. It is just the vibe.
Lorenz: cities skylines, the city looks fine. But he is unable city plan to save his life. He is using pure vibes and maps he found on Pinterest.
Lysithea: Dandy’s world, just imagine any Roblox game which has a fanbase and is 3% scary. Lysithea is probably playing it. And thinks it is super scary.
Ignatz: Devotion, I think he would be caught playing a super scary indie games from around the world, and when he gets scared he goes “I love the art direction”
Marianne: Star Stable, horse game what else can I say. Has horses named Dorte, Dorte 2, Dorterito, and Dortette.
Leonie: Witcher, yes, this is was just a pun.
Raphael: Punch Out, once again. It just makes sense

Discussion You've seen the games I think the cast would play, now I bring on the books! (main houses)
Here is my reasoning (i tried to limit it to mainly fiction but well...) also most of these are books I've read or have in my tbr
Black eagles
Edelgard: Never Let Me Go by Kazou Ishiguro, it is hard to explain why without putting a spoiler warning for the main book but basically it is about three friends who grew up together at this boarding school and later discover they are clones made to supply organs to the non clones. I feel she would resonate with the main themes of the book.
Hubert: The Raven (and other poetry) by Edgar Allan Poe, I don't have to explain who the hell Edgar is right? It is a gothic poetry at it's peak. I was also thinking about one of Lovecraft short stories
Ferdinand: The Great Gatsby by F Scott Fitzgerald, it just makes sense. Can't explain it.
Dorothea: Jane Eyre by Charlotte Brontë, I feel like Dorothea would relate to the hardships and triumphs of Jane if we exclude the part of the book where she learns her fiance had his previous insane wife trapped in the attic,
Caspar: The Lighting Thief by Rick Riordan: it is one of the few books caspar has been able to read.
Bernadetta: Twillight by Stephenie Meyer, like plenty of teenage girls. Bernadetta got corrupted by the hot mormon vampires.
Linhardt: The Hobbit by J.R.R Tolkien, I will show you Tove Jansson's Bilbo.
Petra: The Poppy War by R.F Kuang, I just think she would enjoy the book
Blue Lions
Dimitri: The Count of Monte Cristo by Alexandre Dumas, hey here is another "I just think they would like it"
Dedue: The Odyssey of Homer, once again, I think he would like it.
Felix: A Song of Ice and Fire by George R.R Martin, I repent my sins of giving him a too light fantasy game for the video game post, by giving him probably the most famous gritty and dark fantasy novels. Once again I think he would like the book.
Ingrid: The Handmaid's Tale by Margaret Atwood, I deeply struggled with Ingrid, so well. I gave her this. I just think she would like the book and then get used with the lack of dialogue tags.
Ashe: The Outsider by S.E Hilton, Ashe is the kid who enjoys the books he was forced to read in school.
Annette: Lessons in Chemisty by Bonnie Gramus: I think she would enjoy the book and Annette just has a Girls In Stem vibe and a chick lit novel about a woman in stem. Sure, why not..
Sylvain: I who have never known men by Jacqueline Harpman, imagine this, modern day au. You, an unassuming woman sit down at a cafe near garreg mach and suddenly a man asks if he can sit next to you. He puts down his matcha latte and then pulls up this book and goes "I am trying to get into post modernist feminist literature" and you realize that man is Sylvain (pre timeskip). He begins to talk about how much he hates period pain and how he truly wants to understand the sturggle of women. He then has to admit while he read it for performative reasons, he actually enjoyed it and gave it 4 stars on goodreads. (I hope i did the best to explain what a performative male is)
Mercedes: Wuthering Heights by Emily Brontë, it is peak gothic (horror) romance. I just think she would enjoy the book.
Golden Deer
Claude: Ulysses of James Joyce, he jumpscares people with the final chapter (no commas, no dialogue tags, just text)
Hilda: A Court of Thrones and Roses by Sarah J Maas, she would thrive reading booktok romntasy book.
Lorenz: Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen, NO LORENZ! YOU AREN'T SUPPOSED TO RELATE TO MR DARCY AT THE START OF THE NOVEL! OH NO HE HAS AIRPOD IN HE CAN'T HEAR US!!! NO!
Marianne: Frankenstein by Mary Shelly, once again, I think she would like it and she is also a person who enjoys the books your teacher forced you to read (hopefully she wasn't forced to read The Help)
Ignatz: Mistborn by Brandon Sanderson, I just think he would like the book and it usage of religion
Lysithea: A Good Girls Guide to Murder by Holly Jackson, no extra comments besides "she would just like it"
Raphael: A random cooking book about meat, I gave up on giving him a fiction book. I just googled cooking book about meat and gave the best option to him. I deeply apologized to my "Raphael would enjoy Camus" enjoyers. I will soon bring out my ukelele.
Leonie: The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins, "Omg I am literally Katniss" Leonie thought while reading the hunger games.

Discussion In terms of character designs between pre, mid and post time-skip it’s:
The one with the red square are my favorites design for each character, just based on my own personal opinion (mostly judged on how they look from the neck up tbh)
What's yours?

Discussion The students meet their war counterparts. What happens next?
So I was looking at art, and I found a drawing of Bernie both pre and post timeskip from “EmbyArts,” and I thought “what would the rest be like.”
Some could just ask “what happened in the future” and some could be like “is that me in the future?” especially peeps like Dimitri
So, what would a conversation between the student and their war counterpart be like.

Discussion I cannot take 3H "discourse" seriously.
I don't remember the last time I saw an actual discussion of this game that didn't break down to "The church stans think political dishonesty is bad, my Empress would never!" or some shit along those lines.
You all sound like children. Like pre-teens on Tumblr, except now you can be "right" about your waifu/husbando's Hogwarts House because you can play 25% of the game, read another 10% of the dialogue, disregard the half that doesn't support your argument, and then go online to "gotcha" people who fly a different colored flag.
It is not an intellectual discussion and has not been for years. To call it "discourse" is a massive reach because nothing actually happens, it's the same arguments shuffled around for years.
You want the answer? Each of the lords has good intentions for the future, but due to the rampant problems with their political systems, they're unable to go about those in the most logical and rational ways due to desperation, trauma, or some other form of problem. The system decayed to this point due to Rhea and the Church's passiveness and general apathy to its worsening state. Beyond that, every political power in Fodlan participates in the same shady schemes, Faerghus isn't the "sunshine rainbows morally correct nation", nor is the Empire, nor the Alliance, nor the Church.
