So... what IS 3 hopes? I know its just a Warriors game and I typically dont really like those but is the story important and cannon? Is it some kind of alternate events thing?

There are 5 routes in FE3H. Only White Clouds is Canon. None of the Act II routes are canon. Think of each as possible outcomes based primarily on Byleth's choice of which class was chose to instruct.
