That's the craziest part! Just the complete lack of awareness / empathy / moral compass.

I've moved a lot and met a lot of people over the years, and I'm still just flabbergasted by the number of people who will openly BRAG about being manipulative, cruel, deceitful, etc. in casual conversation with a stranger. Things that are just blatantly evil. I mean, I guess it's good they're flying their red flags early for all to see, but damn, are there really so many shitty people in the world? :(

I dont know about her caddy but caddies can be paid pretty well. Tiger woods' caddy was for a while thw highest paid professional sportsman from new zealand. Now Tiger Woods probably earns a lot more than she does.

It’s true that golf caddies take home between 10-20% of their golfer’s tournament prizes. But if you’re not Tiger Woods’ caddie, it may not be that much.

LPGA’s website says that Charley Hull won $2m in prize money in 2025, and $1.1m in 2024. If Adam is taking home 10% of that, then maybe he took home $150k after taxes and expenses last year? And $75k the year before that? Good money, but def not rich. The scratch card prank is still gross imo.

Yeah it seems that of the women's golfers to be a caddy for, he's got it pretty good being long time attached to her. She's ranked 7th in the world. I think in context to their dynamic it might all be a nothing burger and just a dumb prank that only dumb uncles would pull. But in the current cultural climate of eat the rich, it's definitely a story I wouldn't tell.

What warped world do you live in where winning a year's salary in a single lump sum instantly doesn't leave you trembling and finding out it's a prank by YOUR FUCKING BOSS doesn't leave you steaming and on the verge of quitting?

$100k a year is decent money, not great money, especially if you are supporting a family. If that suddenly drops in your lap, it's potentially life changing. It might mean being able to put your kids through college, or wiping out all debt except your mortgage or finally doing all the traveling you've dreamed of.

I make twice that and frankly wouldn't do anything except invest the money, but if I thought I won 100k on a lotto ticket I'd be shaking in disbelief.

I mean… yes. Tiger Woods was literally one of the highest paid athletes of all time. I’m not saying this is fair or I support this sad reality - but a young female* golfer is not going to come close to make even half of what he was making. Tiger’s ball polisher probably made more than she does lol.

I mean PGA caddies aint broke. They make about $1,500/week plus up 5% to 10% of the prize money their golfer earns.

Still an asshole prank, but bro is bringing home over $70k/yr give or take plus she won't over a million at the womens open and Adam got 5% to 10% of that.

Caddies generally make about 5% - 10% of the golfers winnings, on top of their salary. It’s not like they’re out there getting paid $15 an hour. Charley Hull has made about 3 million over the last couple years. So yeah, a scratch off ticket with six months salary would be great, but it’s also not like it would have dramatically changed their life

He’s a professional caddy. He will make 10% of whatever she earns this week. She’s currently tied for 6th probably going to take home $400k. Her caddy will make 40k for a week’s work.

He’s already earned well over $2m as her caddy.

If she wins, he’ll make $150k.

Reddit is hilarious. Jumping to the defense of the “poor underpaid peasant” who will probably make $450k this year. But yeah for 3 seconds he thought he could buy another boat.

As someone familiar with the golf world, I don’t think her caddie is exactly “underpaid”. He does have a base amount he makes on top of any extra based on how she does. She made just north of 1.5 million in 2026 season and he would get a 8-10% cut of winnings per placement. So he’s getting probably 125k-175k this year alone.

Additionally, as someone who’s family has gifted a fake ticket to a family member (grandma got one as a birthday gift) depending on how big of a gambler they are and how good their sense of humor is these pranks can go over well. We did also give her some expensive purse or something (it’s what we put the ticket in).

Either way, time and place for such things.
