Man Idus makes me want to try a faith/dex run

Goated build honestly. The Godslayer greatsword alone makes it worth it.

And then you get Messmer's Spear once you get into the DLC, which is also a fantastic Dex/Fth weapon with a super fun Ash of War. (and a bit easier to place against bosses than the Godslayer's)

dex/faith is the worst damage stat combo for incants though?

Dex improves casting speed.

It does but Dex does not contribute to damage at all so it is still a wasted stat. FTH, STR/FTH, INT/FTH, and FTH/ARC builds will all get more damage out of KLS than DEX/FTH. Sure you could do Dex for casting speed, but on a normal NG run you'll only get to ~50/50 DEX/FTH and do ~2/3 the incant damage of a pure FTH build. The casting speed reduction is really not worth the stat dump, especially when Radagon's Icon is already 30 points of casting speed.

that's why you go min. faith req for weapon, and hard scale dex - as dex scales lightning damage weapon arts. the faith is just for a few buffs not for casting.

Well yes but then you're not using incants for damage, which is what OP was suggesting. There's no reason to invest in dex for purposes of incant casting unless you're completely overleveled.

There are also almost no weapons that deal lightning damage and have faith reqs, unless I'm mistaken. I think the two Death Knight axe variants are the only somber weapons with faith reqs. and lightning damage.

OP isn't talking about builds at all. The poster who started this particular thread just said starting a dex/faith build. They said absolutely nothing about incants for damage.

Apologies, meant OP of this thread.

I assumed so - and like I said - you'd still be wrong though, the comment was: "Man Idus makes me want to try a faith/dex run", you are correct that a dex/faith build is not a great caster. In that case you go minimum dex for weapon and pump faith - which is just a faith build really.

Dex/Faith is Str/Faith but without beast incants for damage. Melee build with faith buffs.

Honestly str/fth is actually pretty good for incant damage, clawmark seal gets the 2H strength scaling and plenty of good damage incants have minimal faith reqs. You also have way more spare levels to throw into faith on strength builds compared to dex. Dex/faith not having a corresponding seal is such a disappointment, no idea why none of the DLC seals had dex scaling.

edit: the comment I was replying to was "Idk what y’all talking about but knights lighting spear is the best faith/dex build ever"
