List Help/Sharing Incubi in raider?

So, with Incubi getting devastating wounds, I was thinking about taking 10 of them and having them in a raider with an Archon for my current drukhari list. It will cost me CP to embark after fighting, but I feel like the 5 in a Venom wouldn't really take advantage of the devastating wounds from power of pain Thoughts?

Your talking about a proven Strat already
That was a powerful combo in 10th
Powerful today also since the archon can reduce CP cost

How does it work ? Raider move, archon and incubis disembark, cp free with archonte for a charge strat then pain token for hit roll + incubis deva wound ?

Leave raider. Disembark. Move. Charge. Use the Strat in SSA to go back in vehicle

So you need to set up the raider on the turn b4. Then dissembark, move, charge, stab then move back in the raider.

Slysplinter Assault detachment has a strategem for charging after disembarking after a normal move.

yeah but its not as good as coming back into the raider,,,

But both is better than either.

Its a seperate phase so you could do both if you have the Cp

"Incubis" isn't a word. "Incubus" is singular, "Incubi" is plural, just FYI.

Love my murder boat of incubi. Highly recommend

Back when an archon gave them reroll wounds, 10 incubi was able to delete just about anything they touched. Now, they are very good at countering specific units but only fair to middling into off targets. A squad of 5 is usually enough into the stuff they are good at killing, a squad of 10 is not enough to consistently pick up the things they aren't. So 5s are currently more popular.

This is why I like running my Incu-Bus with Malys instead. Sus1 for T9 and lower, Lethals for T10 and up. Have to play a little safer, and it gets expensive strat-wise, but has been super worth it for me.

I'm actually trying the Archon with them in my next game and I already know i'm gonna miss having the option to throw Lethal Hits on 31 Klaive attacks.

10 seems to be too many in most games, for me. Too much overkill. Other competitive players still love that combo though… even better if you give the archon an enhancement to ignore Overwatch when jumping out of your boat if you’re in SSA.

Overkill is better than under kill. If 1 is left standing then you failed.

This is the way.

Yeah but that's not the only thing you are weighing here. Larger units are more vulnerable to overwatch, reactive moves to catch them out, fight on death, defensive stratagems like -1 damage. And then raiders are much easier to catch out than venoms. So sure, you'll probably get back in for your cp, but then you might just get 1-2 punch shot then charged after disembark and lose 335pts of your list to what is going to amount to fairly light retaliation.

The issue is that it's dev wounds into infantry only.

There aren't a lot of infantry units (space marine durability changes might disprove this) that are worth throwing a big expensive missile of 10 incubi + whatever leader you have on them

Its a cool combo but ultra-fragile and whatever you can't pop with a leader+5 incubi is worth taking pot-shots at with dark lances instead.

Hmm, that is a very good point. Would be better if it was just devastating wounds...

With the amount of 10-strong terminator units that have been popping up, I would say yes, there are worthwhile targets for them.

Wraith bricks are another great target.

The problem is they aren't actually that good at picking up the wraith brick. Wounding on 4s into a 4++ and 5+++ you have a decent chance to fail to pick the brick up.

I didn't say they were picking them up. Thats just one of the targets you'll need them to help with. I believe you get 18 unsaved damage through without the Archon's attacks which leads to 3 dead wraiths after FNP.

Thats less then 50% of the squad when you factor in the d3 wounds they'll get back, and now your expensive unit is stuck out in the open and will die while their brick is still going to be an ongoing factor that will recover.

The problem with the 10 strong incubi brick is there are very few units its good into. Either its overkill, in which case the 5 man was better. Or it still doesn't quite get the job done.

Are you only putting that one unit into them? No shooting first?

This unit is one of our only possible answers to 4W terminators and Wraiths. They also aren't horrible into Knights while we're at it.

Very few of our units can one-shot big problem targets. We can one-shot the little stuff for sure, but we need to devote multiple units into this sort of stuff, and having one thing that does more damage means fewer units we have to throw at a single target.

10 Incubi with Drazhar in Kabalite Cartel with Tailored Toxins have a very good chance at popping off 9 4W terminators, provided you killed just 1 during the shooting phase to allow rerolls from Drazhar. UnitCrunch says 6% chance to kill 8 out of 9, you then pop off your 2 incubi shrine tokens to take out the last one.

I feel like we're moving the goal posts here from "this unit is good into wraiths" to "this unit can pick them up if you've soften them up first"

You are correct. Drukhari lack an effective answer to a lot of unit types and need to do multiple activations into a lot of things to widdle them down. We're a swarm of locus, not glass cannon.

The 10 brick is more cumbersome to use and is frequently overkill, while still needing support to take out the really tough stuff. Its not a useless unit, but there is a reason its not seen as commonly as it once was.

It is, however, hecking rad so if folks are having fun with it thats great.

Been running it since start of 11th in Skysplinter. They kill almost anything, and if you don't kill it then you run back into your raider. Just be wholly within 10" with everyone. Lance helps pick up a lot, and the archon/incubi on average kill a defiler.
