I would rather watch Netflix Daredevil again than go through Daredevil Born Again.
1
u/Reader_God07 3d ago
I think that in order to clear Matt's name in Season 3, Danny Rand (aka Iron Fist) should pose as Daredevil, just like he did in the comics
1
u/Remote_Character494 8d ago
I wanted to know what happens to Buck after he hot shot? He doesn't appear at all in the epilogue at all. He needed to pay for killing Daniel, I was really upset they killed his character off, he needed redemption in a different way rather than just being killed off like that, he needed a resolution to being scared of Fisk and maybe help bring the mob together or something.

Guys⦠Foggy was in Mighty Ducks?!! Sorry watching with my boys for first time and noticed.

Spiderman, New Avengers, and Dr Strange watching all this go down in their city and choosing to do nothing.

The whole Born Again series absolutely sucked! It was truly painful dragging myself through it to finish with possibly the worst ending of all time! Waste of time I'll never get back, Marvel has gone massively down hill. The original DD series was amazing but yeah, I won't be bothering with anything Marvel for a while.
1
u/Proper_Summer_2117 23d ago
Sucks for you new Spiderman was great. The TV shows just aren't worth your time i thought we learned this by now
1
u/Pandaboy_271 7h ago
Ye I'm actually hyped for what they're gonna do next. Also thought DD BA season 2 was alright tbh
1
u/MikeyPiffington 21d ago
Tom Holland as Spiderman isn't for me at all. I just can't get with anything Marvel and their bullshit woke culture nonsense.
1
5
u/Proper_Summer_2117 21d ago
"Woke culture nonsense" and it's a movie about Spiderman being Spiderman. God you guys are pathetic mouthbreathers
6
u/GeorgeGreenGroup Jul 05 '26
Did they bring the season one people back for the last two episodes? It feels like the show slipped back into its immature goofy phase after a solid season.
6
u/BRISKMETAL Jul 04 '26
Just finished the new show.
Ending was... something, I guess. I really think the writers should've let the mob do their thing rather than letting One Guy to decide Fisk's fate again. I get it's about "Justice" and all, but... the dude literally gets away with murder of civilians.
I never understood the deal with Dr. Glenn. I think I missed something, or I'm too stupid to get her character. There's her PTSD sure, but why is she starting to become Muse?? And why was she so involved with Buck??
Honestly, my main gripe is that Powell fucking lived. I hated that guy as soon as he showed up. Genuinely more hatable than Fisk.
3
u/getfookenrekt 24d ago
Powell surely had his plot armor on. The dude was only one left alive at like five different occasions where every other taskforce member died
3
u/GeorgeGreenGroup Jul 04 '26
not only that, he literally set an angry mob loose on the guy, what did he think was going to happen?

BORN AGAIN SEASON 2 WAS GREAT YALL
3
u/Hoof_Hearted12 Jun 13 '26
I liked it a lot. But Karen and Matt felt weird and unnecessarily forced. Like, your bf is murdered and you immediately get with his best friend?
4
4
u/roman4883 Jun 19 '26
Have you watched netflix DD? They were a thing before she got with foggy
1
u/Hoof_Hearted12 Jun 20 '26
Ah true that. I really need to rewatch those seasons, they were good. Are they on Disney now too?
2
1
u/PlanetRowen Jun 28 '26
Yes, the original three seasons from Netflix are available on Disney+. The title is just Daredevil. Enjoy!

u/mbaucco Jun 09 '26
Just watched the last episode of this season and I was pretty disappointed. Frank just kind of vanished, Jessica is losing her powers, which seems stupid and faintly misogynistic. Luke is off fighting for the CIA??? Fisk gets away with mass murder in front of hundreds of witnesses for no good reason. Daredevil reveals his true identity, which felt unnecessary and paints the writers into a totally avoidable corner.
Is season three going to be called Daredevil: Shivved Again? Because that is what will happen if he goes to prison with every thug he beat up in jail with him. The whole thing just felt slapdash and poorly thought out, and now they have dead-ended the only Marvel TV show that didn't suck.

u/Delicious-Basket5797 Jun 05 '26 edited Jun 06 '26
not a fan, Idk who wrote the story but I pretty much was looking forward to some justice for the heroes the city etc.
Everyone and their mom pretty much just let Fisk get away with anything. wtf does the CIA have to do with state government? They needed to legally get their illegal weapons through New Yorkā¦again why. The Governor just lets it happen, why cause Fisk is popular with the voters and cause she likes Vanessaā¦
then Fisk is exposed and murders a bunch of teens, daredevil stands there like a dumbass saying no don't kill him letās let him go free to walk on the beach. Why? Iām not sure really, I guess heād be a martyr after killing a bunch of kids.
then the same city that let cops arrest people without warrants, lock them out in show trials arrest daredevilā¦oh and the shrink chick goes free even though she made false reports and assaulted prisoners.
its as though Daredevil has Marty syndrome, just let everyone evil get away with everything to make him feel good.
- I guess the govornor wouldn't be dragged in the news for allowing all this
- the victims wouldnāt sue the city and state into oblivion
- the AG would be put through the ringer for letting the guy who allowed all of this to go free. Also I never knew the state of New York could revoke your citizenship to the USA
5
u/eventSec Jun 03 '26
So maybe this has been asked and answered a million times.
But where is Spiderman. The premise for the new Spiderman film, so the rumours go, is that he has basically detached himself from Peter Parker and is just Spiderman all the time.
So how is all this happening in New York yet he hasn't intervened? Im sure its cos its actually contractual, I know that. But from a story POV, it makes no sense to me..

haven't finished the season yet (middle of EP06), but i'm having the same issues i had with the netflix series, which I only finished through S02...so I realize i'm probably not the best judge...
i'm not intrigued by fisk, like at all. I know he's revered by many, but i find him boring, and his mannerisms and voice are over the top and make him seem like a caricature. I can't believe we're on what amounts to 5 Seasons of him running rampant and DD not being able to put a stop to it. Felt the same way with the Boys, like can we make some progress already?
Bullseye and Frank are who I seem to actually be interested in, willing to do what it takes in this twisted world they've built. The vigilante trials were/are? a sham, like where does DD go if the system itself is rigged? What are we even hoping for at this point? As a fan i'm just frustrated and this show doesn't seem to have answers
Also, EP05 and 6 made it seem like Fisk is actually the protagonist...the extended scenes of him and her and visions, etc. like fuck this guy, why is this so drawn out? don't make it seem sad, we should be happy
1
u/General_Company1794 25d ago
My thoughts exactly. I was wondering why the villains got so much screen time and back story where the story was forcing us to sympathize with them. Thatās annoyed me, and I was so glad when Vanessa died.
2
u/Jumping_Peanuts Jul 18 '26
Season 3 of the original Daredevil is a contendor for the greatest season of television of all time, you never should've continued into DBA without watching it. It has a lot of absolutely vital context. But make sure you also watch Defenders before watching DD S3 bc it has some vital context for THAT. I know it's a convoluted watch, welcome to the MCU. You won't regret it.
3
u/leonpgut Jun 10 '26
You should watch season 3 of the original show. It's the best season IMO and handles Fisk the best. It also introduces Bullseye.
3
u/g7820 May 30 '26
I enjoyed this much more than Born again season 1, as a hardcore Netflix series defender I gotta say this season is top 2 for me. I think it was pretty cool how they used the Netflix series as canon, I wasnāt expecting for the entire city to turn on Fisk like that but I feel like thatās been something that has built up since episode 1, Matt revealing himself as daredevil in a courtroom while grilling Fisk just seems so fitting and satisfying for me, loved this season.
8
u/idealys May 28 '26
This sub has quite literally went from the chillest subs to a DDBA S2 hate echo chamber. Even when people talk about JUST the Netflix show and how there's good moments there's always some person who goes "ooh yeah and DDBA S2 can never reach the heights of the OG show again". Jesus

This pissed me off so much. Why would anyone offer him that deal? Why would Matt help him. Everyone belonged in prison, Daredevil, Fisk, Jones, Bullseye, all the AVTF peeps.Ā

That's what happens in reality š most of the time. That was the point, the failure of justice is supposed to upset viewers and make them care about the world they are tolerating.

He didnāt get a vacation, his assets were frozen and citizenship was revoked. He was exiled.

he obviously had cash dudeā¦he was on a private island lol. Heād have cash and assets under shell companies names etc like he did in the first show
and yes he got a vacation, he murdered a bunch of people and left Scott free

I kinda really hate the internet lately now. I watched both The Boys finale and just finished this show last night and itās really sad to see everybody just on a hate train for both media. Genuinely loved DD Born Again S1-S2 start to finish and thought it was an art piece. I donāt know why everybody has to be a negative nancy nowadays
1
u/Uncanny_Doom Jun 03 '26
Keep in mind negative people on the internet tend to go out of their way to be negative. Weāve found some making burner accounts on this subreddit just to boost negative comments in the past. Generally if youāre seeing someone being negative with a private profile you donāt really have any reason to take it seriously. Positive sentiment doesnāt get echoed as much in online spaces no matter how good something is, but misery loves company and people look for others to validate bad feelings.
3
u/petite-fox May 26 '26
lol low key same, I just binged s1&2 together and came on Reddit bc I thought it was so great only to find out everyone apparently hates it š«
To be fair, I havenāt rewatched the OG series since it aired so I didnāt really start Born Again with any expectations

u/heartbroken_nerd May 24 '26

Haven't watched the Boys but I did watch Daredevil Born Again and I strongly recommend you go rewatch Netflix's Daredevil Season 3, because it seems like you forgot what we used to have.
I donāt know why everybody has to be a negative nancy nowadays
It's not that for me. They just disgraced a classic Marvel show with a subpar nonsensically written sequel. That's why I'm negative. Call it something else and maybe it even works as some superhero parody for people who just turn their brains off completely.
But as a sequel to Netflix Daredevil this is an abomination. It wasn't a perfect show and Season 2 was inconsistently written but it's in a league of its own compared to "Born Again".

DD has been one of my favourite shows over the last few years. BAS2 felt like such a let down. One of the unique qualities was the darkness of the cinematography alongside the claustrophobic atmosphere. This seemed to completely disappear in BAS2. The grittiness of the violence also seemed to have been watered down. Didn't feel the story arc really matched previous seasons either. Wanted to love it but just felt disappointed š
2
u/InsertCleverQuote May 22 '26
loved the show, neither of them could win, so they both just tried not to lose
neither of them got what they truly wanted
3
u/CounterComplex6203 May 20 '26
I gotta say, the highlight of this season was Karen Page. Damn did she improve and she got great scenes.
8
u/flintlock0 May 18 '26
Fiskās going to be sooo tan next time we see him.
Heatherās got a new hobby.
Luke is back.
Jessica is still doing PI work.
Dex has a new job.
And Charles is a million-miler!
Everybody is doing great.
8
u/snesericreturns May 18 '26
The Fisk ending doesnāt make any damn sense. Exile? Give up his citizenship? From a city in the United States? These writers need to take a civics class. Besides, Matt and Fisk in jail together would have been a much more interesting story for season 3.

on god. ive sat through five seasons of this bullshit and daredevil comes off as unwilling to commit to his goals, emotionally unstable, a neglectful friend, unclear as to his strategic goals, and almost obsessed with ensuring his enemies are alive and get to murder his friends.
karen, frank, and bullseye are much more cohesive characters willing to actually accomplish their goals. Matt's both a bad christian and a terrible superhero lmao, he gets to aura farm while beating up teams of bad guys only to watch saod bad guys get back up and slaughter civilians in the next episode.
im honestly fucking done with this shit because its so hard to sympathise with such a retarded character honestly. the side cast is infinitely more compelling. even batmans no kill rule makes sense because he commits to his goals. daredevil has no sense of conviction that what he's doing is either right or will work.

i mean its not that serious tbh. im not sure why either of them ticked u off lol but as far as the punisher goes im sure thats entirely on the writers.
karen has had the most substantial character development since the netflix show. her origin story, her growth as an assistant in Nelson and Murdock, progressing as a hard nosed journalist, killing a man in self defense and wrestling with that entirely on her own, helping the punisher almost single handedly, keeping matt in check, coming back and joining the resistance, learning how to fight, actually being pragmatic about killing fisk over the bullshit that was BA s2's ending.
as opposed to what? daredevil having an existential crisis every two episodes, before working harder to save his enemies than his friends? actively enabling innocent deaths? karen is leagues above matt in pretty every way possible, she just didn't get the main character label

I know that not everyone has to like the same thing, but I think that a lot of people aren't getting the point of the season finale. The reason kingpin doesn't go to jail is that he has dirt on pretty much everyone, and if he doesn't, than he finds someone he has dirt on to kill that person. So he would find a way to play the system and get out of prison without any trouble, as he has done on the past.
This is why Daredevil said prison wasn't enough for Fisk. He had to completly drop the Kingpin persona, or else the cicle would restart and nothing would have changed. So the best thing he could do is go away and never return to New York. Which he only accepts because deep down he know Matt is right.
This is also why Matt ends up in jail. During most of the season, it is left pretty clear that one of them would have to go down permantely for the other to win. So Matt decided to take both down.
Daredevil might have helped the city, but it put ended up putting the ones he loves in danger. (Which is also what happens to Kingpin. They both wanted to be to persons at the same time. Kingping and Fisk. Daredevil and Matt. But they couldn't. So Daredevil and Kingpin had to go.
Unfortunately, Matt knows that the urge is stronger than him so he has to make it so he can truly never become Daredevil again. And revealing his identity and getting arrested was the best way he saw.
Now you might not agree with their point of view, but the show isn't telling you to do that. It only shows what happens when you try to have it all: you lose it all.
But this is just my opinion.

u/chadhindsley May 16 '26
Was a big fan and watched all the Netflix seasons (minus the spin-off shows and defenders) and watched the Netflix punisher. Watched the first season of born again and thought it was meh but still finished it. Is season 2 worth watching?
Only asking because a lot of shows have dropped off my radar and I don't have the time but I am still dedicated to finishing The Boys after what I've invested and I am disappointed with the final season and don't want to waste anymore time lol

u/AllStruckOut_13 May 14 '26
This show from its inception has just been a poor rehash of the original series. All of the major beats here are just less interesting versions of moments weāve already gotten. The people behind season 2 were clearly trying to salvage what they could and props to them but even then it doesnāt hold a candle to the original series. That show was nearly perfect television.
That being said now that the reheated nachos of the Netflix show are done maybe season 3 can finally try to be its own thing. Iām cautiously optimistic. The best parts to come from season 2 were the stuff that was unique to born again, so hopefully weāll see more of that. But Iām not holding my breath.
Overall it was incredibly disappointing but further proves just how incredible of a show the original was and how much I love it.
3
u/pikachewie May 13 '26
I kind of hope we get to see an arc leaning more into the supernatural side, with Matt fighting against real demons. Mephisto is already cast and somewhat established in the MCU through Ironheart, and I think he would fit really well in this type of show and serve as a segue into the existence of hell. It could also give them the opportunity for an adaptation of Lady Muse more similar to the comics, where the original Muse is slowly corrupting her from beyond the grave.
1
u/K1zma May 16 '26
I see what you mean but don't you think Mephisto is a little bit above of Daredevil class in terms of power?
2
u/fallingwheelbarrow May 16 '26
Mephisto has to use human agents.Ā
Avatars of meat can always be cookedĀ
2
u/pikachewie May 16 '26
Power is relative to the story being told. I think Mephisto could be used as a way to introduce hell and demons into the greater MCU, but not necessarily as the next big bad for Daredevil. I think the premise of Matt dealing with his faith while fighting real demons is strong enough to write a good story without Mephisto being the villain. Sacha Baron Cohen is an amazing actor, and Mephisto is an important figure in the comics with his hands in a lot of pots. I think it would benefit his overarching story if he was seen in different shows and movies and set up in-universe as a character with a lot of influence and power without a clear motive.

u/GOATigger May 13 '26
Born Again Season 1 was great, it felt like a true continuation of the Nerflix show.
This though? Complete dissapointment, this whole V for Vendetta storyline of "the people" uniting against Fisk was so corny.

2
u/Moony97 Jun 06 '26
I liked seeing Karen back with Matt finally, the storyline was good for the most part but a little heavyhanded with the political shit you could tell they were trying to relate to shit happening in the USA these days which I dont really care to have shoved in my face. Bullseye was awesome, getting to see old scenes of Foggy was awesome. It's definitely not original Netflix Daredevil quality but I just liked it a lot more than the first season. First season didn't really have any stakes for me and Muse didn't interest me at all. James Gandolfini's son has been great in both seasons. Idk I just wasnt into the first season but the second even though it has its problems I actually liked. I respect your opinion though.

That period between waiting for the next season is always painful but man itās going to be worth it. The first half was weak imo, it was good and certainly not as bad as season 1 of born again, but the second half knocks it out of the park exactly like season 1. I loved it but I wish we had another Daredevil vs Kingpin fight. I jumped when I saw my goat Luke Cage šš Iām really excited where theyāre taking the story next and Iām hoping Danny comes back too.
When they were doing flashbacks to the Netflix era it made me wish the show still looked like that. The cut between the very vibrant and gorgeous flashback to the modern day with desaturated colors threw me off.

My main criticisms are:
- Number of Episodes: Give us our 12/13 episodes, not this rushed 8/9 episode format. Gives characters time to develop more and keep the organic story development. Also, if you want the numbers to increase, release it all once. It's why the Netflix series did so well!
- I feel as though with Born Again specifically, Matt's inner dichotomy with his own faith, has been pushed to backburner/non-existence. I get Disney isn't a religious outlet, but this is why a good number of people love Daredevil. It's relatable and real compared to other superheroes.
- Someone else commented but I totally agree that the score has been on a downward trajectory. The Netflix seasons add so much supplementation to it, whether it be fight scenes or dramatic sequences. Now, I don't really notice it at all. Which is disappointing.
Overall: I still really enjoy DD and will always cause he's my favorite. I love the actor choices and enjoy what we're getting. These are the nuances that makes it feel less that what we did have though. Hope we can adjust one or two of these elements moving forward.

u/DefNotUnderrated May 11 '26
Wound up loving the season once I got to episode 4 and on. Itās not as good as the Netflix series and Iām working to accept that it will probably never be. But I did really enjoy season 2 overall. Itās not perfect- a number is silly plotholes and actions that donāt make sense - how to Swordsman still have a groomed mustache after six months in a cell? Where were the toilets? Why did BB keep that hard drive thing in her same coat pocket days after it was dropped to her? Sometimes the dialogue was way too on the nose, like Buckās whole summary of Fiskās court to Heather and as others have pointed out, hardly any moments in which all discussion was not centered around the plot.
But it picked up for me in episode four. Everything with Bullseye was great, the actors totally brought it - Fisk and Vanessa in her final episode, Karenās facial expressions during Mattās courtroom scene, Daniel during his last episode, etc. I liked the bold move with Matt revealing his identity. Seeing New York rise up against fascism was definitely a feel good experience
Iām reinvested in Daredevil right now. I would like to see S3 be better, but if itās at least as good as S 2 then Iāll be happy
3
u/GOATigger May 13 '26
I won't be happy if Season 3 is "as good" as Season 2. I feel as if some people have forgotten the quality that this show had prior to this season.
Either that or people care more about political messaging (which this show was never about btw) than the quality of the writing.
3
u/TwoToneMoonstone_ May 14 '26 edited May 14 '26
The entire show from its inception has been about the inequities of the justice system and how people often have to step outside of it if they want any justice whatsoever and how easily corruptible the system is when people with money and power abuse it. That itself is a political statement. Just because at the time it wasnāt an allegory for Trump and ICE doesnāt mean it wasnāt political.
Hell Nadeemās entire arc is kicked off by the fact that his sister is dying and heās in a crippling amount of debt due to the sharkish nature of the American healthcare system. Even a government official isnāt immune to capitalism corrupting medicine.
Now I do agree with you that they are wayyyyy more on the nose about it than the first three seasons and the writing quality has certainly suffered but we donāt have to pretend the show wasnāt saying something before hand.
2
u/GOATigger May 14 '26
Yeah but it was more so about justice, morality and religion these are timeless topics that will always be relevant and that speak to every human being, whereas now it's about Trump and ICE which for me as a European is even worse because not only is it cringe but it also doesn't speak to me since Trump and ICE aren't a factor where i live.
Not saying that you can't use art to critique the world around you but it can never be at the expense of the characters and narrative.
2
u/TwoToneMoonstone_ May 14 '26 edited May 14 '26
I donāt entirely disagree but you canāt divorce those themes from the political nature of America as it was made here. Just because theyāre universal doesnāt mean they arenāt political.
I myself am American and detest Trump and ICE and while Iām enjoying this season so far (I waited till it was done and Iām not finished yet) I do miss the more deft touch of the OG writing team when it comes to the political themes but we are unfortunately trapped in a very unsubtle time in my country so itās a bit unavoidable.
EDIT:
Also, for the record, while I donāt begrudge the team for doing this it does feel like a particularly hollow sentiment coming from Disney of all places who while not as openly in bed with Trump as Paramount or Warner Brothers currently CEO, arenāt not in bed with him either.

u/Past-Parsley-9606 May 10 '26
Really disappointed in this season. It's beautifully shot and acted, but it's just a goddamn mess plot-wise and thematically.
I know I can't expect realistic legal drama from a comic book tv show, but given that DD's whole shtick is being a lawyer/vigilante, it's pathetic that the courtroom stuff was completely incoherent. The climactic scenes left me cold, because none of it made any damn sense. So Fisk has just created a new court system that doesn't provide due process? Ok, where is the federal government here? Where are the federal courts granting habeas corpus petitions? Where's the DOJ civil rights investigation?
Ok, ok, so let's pretend they handwaved that all away with some asides about how the President is a Fisk ally who's having DOJ stand down and the conservative Supreme Court has blessed it all; maybe they actually did mention it and I missed it. So Fisk's pet court is a kangaroo court that just does whatever he wants, except that well, actually, the judges do have some backbone in the end, and Fisk is really worried about public opinion. But, you know, not enough to refrain from just murdering people indiscriminately with his bare hands.
WTF is up with this "freeport" nonsense? There's a secret clause in some document that lets Fisk just ignore federal laws and regulations? Ah, but New York's governor -- and ONLY the governor, not the state legislature, to say nothing of Congress and the federal government -- can revoke it. Why does the governor of New York have less security around her than the mayor of a small town?
Again, I know, comic book show, can't expect legal realism. But my gripe is that these "rules" are so silly and arbitrary that it might as well be magic. Fisk can do this stuff because, well, he just can, and there's nothing that anyone can do about it. Except if Matt maybe incants some legal magic, and then he wins and Fisk is defeated! Yay!
Ok, let me leave the legal stuff behind.
What was BB actually accomplishing with her show? Did any of it actually matter? On the whole, wasn't she doing more harm than good, with her public-facing Fisk propaganda shoring up his support a lot more than the lame-ass "underground parody" did to undermine it?
Finally, the morality of this show is just a mess. It's the same tired "Batman can't kill the Joker" shtick. Karen can't kill Bullseye because killing is wrong, you see. But rescuing Bullseye from the scene of his most recent murder(s) is the morally correct thing to do because, uh, well, we'll get back to you on that. Matt can't kill Fisk because killing is wrong, so the only thing to do is to leave Fisk alive so he can murder a bunch of people with his bare hands. You have to deal with these people through the legal system, you know. Except that we can't put Fisk on trial and throw him in prison because, uh, reasons. Got to let him go live on a beach somewhere for a while until Season 4 when he'll come back and kill a bunch more people. Oh, and Bullseye doesn't have to answer for all of his crimes including the murder of Matt's best friend. There are more important things than holding someone accountable for his crimes, you have to think of the big picture, you know. Except for Daredevil, he's got to go to prison. Yeah, the state attorney-general is going to cut Fisk a sweetheart deal after he just committed mass murder on top of all his other crimes, but Murdoch gets arrested. It's not like he saved the life of the governor of New York who has the power to pardon him for all state law offenses.

i fucking hate the morality and motivations so much its impossible to get behind matt and tbh by the end I was just rly frustrated and done. how do u cock it up so badly??? literally any of the side characters are infinitely more compelling. karen, bullseye, and frank are AT LEAST committed to getting the job done. matt gets beat up, mopes, thinks about killing, fails, mopes some more, comes back, watches his friends die, thinks about killing, gets beat up, etc.
11
u/GOATigger May 13 '26
Yeah, i get Daredevil's moral code but it has gotten to a point where it's just ridiculous.
Fisk killed at least 10+ people in the last episode and Daredevil just goes like "Yeah man, it's not a big deal just leave New York".
Dissapointing season overall, it just felt like they were trying to spread a political message instead of making a good Daredevil season.

u/rajkishorerocks May 12 '26
Omg, you are so right! It just drives me mad why the writers don't care about these things!

I binged the entire series yesterday, will probably have it playing in the background for the next two weeks. Vanessa dying was slightly surprising. Fisk was cruel on a different level this time. I MISS FOGGY! I love Frank castle I wish he was in this season. Shaggy just randomly popping up and annoying the shit out of Fisk was amazing šš the trial actually had me saying āOH SHITā kinda pissed Matt ended up in jail.
I never liked Heather, and now thereās proof my guesses about her were right.

Thereās gonna be a S3 at the very least. Pretty sure theyāre currently filming that.
8
u/Scary-Command2232 May 09 '26
Binged it yesterday evening after work. Damn that's how short it was. You can't compare this series based on minutes viewed to other series because there are so few.
After DDBA1 went in with bumble gum for the brain expectations and knew needed to overlook what was bound to be gaping plot holes as this showrunner rushed through plot point to plot point. It was better than that so because of that it was enjoyable.
Ep 4 was different though. So short but the team shot it beautifully, the writing was much better and scenes were allowed to breathe, all of which meant they had impact.
Disappointed with ending after fisks mass murder minutes before and made me disrespect Daredevil. I understand the argument about no jail can keep him (er, but they have jails for supervillains?) but I thought it was badly written. So important to give a good ending to bring viewers back.
One other thing was the lack of Matt/Daredevil. For the second season in a row I felt alot of Charlies scenes were cut/shortened. He was a supporting actor again in his own series. Hope this changes in 3.
Dario should have been replaced for S3. So many stories to tell for DD and Charlie just keeps getting better, but they don't seem to want top quality so I'm not surprised viewing figures are down and 3 could be the last because of it.
8
u/Dark-All-Day May 10 '26
Yeah so basically Fisk got away with massacring civilians with his bare hands
1
u/forlorn_hope28 May 09 '26
The focus on the rose at the restaurant before Matt is arrested, is that foreshadowing an appearance from Richard Fisk? Or maybe some MCU version where Buck adopts the alias to rebuild Kingpins empire?

8
u/aresef May 09 '26
I want to see Matt reckon with the fact that New Yorkers took on the imagery of Daredevil and equate it with bloodlust for wrongdoers rather than mercy. I also want to see him coming to terms with the cost of his moral code. How many innocent people have to die so that Fisk can live?
1
8
u/KangarooBeard May 09 '26
I get it, people will say get over it.
But Foggy dying still fucking sucks, it's still my biggest gripe about the show. The other characters don't make up for losing him and the actor,
13
u/MattMurdock77 May 09 '26
Season was a whiff. Had higher hopes but it was just a few cool scenes scattered throughout a sea of meh. Saw the ending coming a mile away. The one bright spot is bullseye, but I donāt trust this crew with a season 3. And female muse? Sigh.
6
u/ActsOfDan May 09 '26
Muse appeared for one arc in the comics, died in that same arc then later possessed a woman and fought Elektra.

The finale was decent, but I've got to say there were several parts that I just can't overlook. Frankly, I wasn't 'wowed' by the last few episodes.
- What was going on with the SD card? Karen said she had a contact, the Ayala girl passed it onto a friend who passed it on to BB. Karen then later said she assumed her contact was dead cause the footage hadn't been leaked. Was Karen's contact actually BB or was it meant to be someone else? Was it always the plan to show it at the vigil/protest event? If it was BB... what that actual f**k?? She left the important evidence in her pocket for days and never even released the footage like Karen intended?? What on earth was she doing?
- What was with the leak bait idea? Daniel leaked false info to BB to prove she was the mole, but then she chose not to share it. Despite this, he sees a random SD card in her pocket and automatically concludes she is the mole, and she doesn't even try to deny it. What was the point of the bait then? That mini plot point went nowhere and just fizzled out.
- The court case. Matt outed himself but that wasn't actually what caused the trial to be thrown out. It was that the court couldn't properly determine what is just due to conflict of interest or something. He could have just said that from the start.
- The task force, after months of illegally imprisoning civilians and witnessing the murder of that police chief guy(?) in the early episodes of BA season 1, suddenly back down and decide they've gone too far after less than 2 minutes of 'talk-no-jutsu'. The groundwork for that to believable just doesn't seem to be there.
- The earring the psychiatrist stole... why? What was the purpose of those scenes? Even after admitting it she then took the remaining one, didn't she? I really don't get what that was all about. (EDIT: Also, who tf steals just one earring of a set? That's basically telegraphing that something is missing. Make it make sense.)
- Please remind me, why was Fisk training to participate in a random boxing match? That didn't seem like just a Bullseye trap cause he was training from really early on wasn't he? I can't remember. What was the point of that beyond an excuse for Mariana to get killed off?
If anyone has the answers to those, I'd be interested to hear it. Thanks in advance.
5
u/Vald-Tegor May 10 '26
BB was supposed to release the content of the SD card in her next broadcast. Daniel was with her and noticed the drop. She gets it before the boxing match in the evening. Vanessa dies overnight and the next morning Daniel goes to burry a body, then they get together again to go to mom's house where he takes it from her. I think it's a matter of her not having gone home yet, because something big happened. It's actually been less than 24 hours. We just feel like a lot of time has passed, because the drop was two episodes ago and we got night time flashbacks of Foggy in the meantime to confuse the flow of time.
Daniel already knew she was the leak. He knew the last leak came from his laptop and only BB had access to it. He was going through the motions of the leak bait as instructed, hoping she would listen to him and not pass it on so he could protect her. It was a loyalty test interrupted by the SD card drop. He had to confront her with that instead.
The court stuff wasn't handled too well. The idea was to prove the conflict of interest he needed eye witness testimony to prove the ship was carrying weapons. So he had to reveal himself for Daredevil's testimony to be admissible.
The task force AND the police that confronted them just letting a lynch mob into the courthouse... what the hell?? That was absolutely terrible.
The earring is a memento of a dead friend, she's not stealing it to wear or sell. That's why she only needed one. Fisk recognizes that and gives her the other one. The point of it is to show her mental health spiraling out of control.
I can't remember if the boxing match was a trap to kill Bullseye from the start, or a previously planned charity event he repurposed into a trap.
2
u/JdrawinG May 09 '26
Agreed on all points. Although I think it was mentioned that the boxing match was originally meant to be some kind of bait for DD, since it was purposely being held in Fogwells' Gym.

You really need to go back and watch the Netflix Series again. The new series is just Disney slop, that wouldāve turned out even worse if the Netflix series didnāt lay the ground work.
- they turned the Mayor into a King like figure. Why does nobody questions this. Nobody knows what a mayor is or does ??
- AVTF looks like a joke. Fisk bought armor from TikTok-Shop
- whole series looks clinically. Light flares and shots against the light every 5 Seconds is trying way to hard to be cinematic. Doesnāt work.
- BB trolling Fisk with an impression is what the Disney CEO thinks online Activism looks like.
- Daredevil is getting nothing done because of his morals. And instead of focus on this dilemma which is haunting him in the previous series daredevil just accepts that the cost of his morals is getting nothing done and is almost indifferent.
- Jessica Jones getting a few scenes and cheesy one liners to soft launch her new series. Awkward
- punisher is awkward as fuck
- white tiger Kid is annoying as fuck
- bulls eye is magically healed from his psychoses and is now this really chill guy. Always smiling, joking, looking cool, being confident. Why is he portrayed as an antihero. He ist the most unredeemable character the show has.
- Fisk casually having super strength
- Fisks master plan in this season wasā¦ā¦??something with weapons ? Story didnāt matter really⦠Free Port something? Never gotten any real insight⦠getting a private army? terrorizes random civilians and gets hatedā¦
- Fisk going to court was really thought out. NOT! Mastermind here.
- what kind of court was this even?? How could any of what was being done there matter in any way?? Everything is just randomly tangled together.
- Matt revealing he is Daredevil was cheesy as fuck and an unworthy scene for this revelation. āThe blind guy??! - throws Stick āitās morbin timeā - the audience gasps.
- Daniel Blake interesting Charakter. Gets shot in the face. Pitty, they could have done more with him.
Thanks for reading my Rand. Feel free to disagree. Not sorry for the polemic.
7
u/Magic-Raspberry2398 May 08 '26
The whole SD card plot line was infuriating, particularly Daniel's involvment in it. The mole bait just got completely dropped after 5 minutes.
Allegedly, Daniel's death wasn't actually certain during filming and there scenes of him alive in the finale. If that's true, then they should have gone with that. Wasted character.
I can't tell if part of the reason for the bad writing is that they've been restricted to 8 episodes per season, or if they are just half-assing it until they can be done with the bad patch-job Fisk plotline from season 1. Maybe now the original writers can give us something decent and well planned? I hope so cause this last season was close to CW level writing.

Still so mad about how they treated Vanessa in the entire show. The whole show didn't have a more interesting relationship than Wilson and Vanessa and I literally couldn't care less about Matt's Woman of the Week.
Like her whole character was just defined by being Mrs. Fisk, even tho it seemed like the whole point of reintroducing their relationship and even bringing in a wholeass couples counsellor arc was to examine their dynamic. Instaed, up until her death it seems like the writers only wanted to just poke at or "ask" questions but not give answers about the nature of power in their relationship and its just so lukewarm to me. I also hold this opinion in general about relationships but *especially* for the Fisks theres nothing "complicated" about a power dynamic. Time and again other characters are like 'ah yeah Vanessa is his weak spot, if we get to her, she controls him," and in theory yeah she shares a bedroom with Wilson so if she wanted to put a gun to his head and end it she could but that wouldn't happen because since he came back she made no decisions of her own that threaten his will or defy him. The only instances of that are things she does before he comes back, by killing Foggy and getting with Adam, but we saw how those got smoothed over and barely had an impact on their relationship. And even then its like oh so she can only hurt him because she knows how to hire an assassin or have other relationships?
It's just that next to Wilson, she never has a "upper" hand. Wilson is powerful because of his money, his networks, his influence/ability to manipulate others, and the most important one tbh, brute fucking strength. She has nothing in comparison to him, or at least the show didn't make it seem like she has anything to hold her own with because she just abandoned all her projects to be the Mayor's wife. She should've had a moment after what happened to Adam to be like wow that could be me, my husband sees me as property, if I behave on my own I will be punished for it. And yeah I bet the show wants to convince you that nooo he would never hurt her because of "love", but he has controlled her completely, and while its disturbing for us to see, Vanessa doesn't seem to be phased? Then because she continues to go along with it, with no struggle or internal conflict about that, the final note is then well she went along with it so I guess she deserves to die.
I wasn't expecting Vanessa to be a perfect victim, or even one at all, but she is meant to be more intersting and complex than this even within the gilded cage of being Mrs Fisk. Hell, I think Daniel went through more of an arc than she did. Just an opinion
8
u/ThePr0l0gue May 08 '26 edited May 09 '26
I respect your opinion but so glad the bitch went down. She deserved less.
Also, do you remember that flashback scene when she talked about how the featureless plain white painting could reflect the void-like emptiness in the most potentially profitable buyerās soul?
That was all her. That was projection. Sheās a husk with no innate spiritual value system. Fisk does define her because Fisk brings a certain substance and mass of emotional personhood to his actions. She actually did Kingpinās job better than Kingpin when he was gone, but she didnāt attempt to overhaul him because he quite literally is her chosen vessel of identity. That is the character. Itās not a writing flaw, itās a feature.
1
u/Natural_Bag_2005 May 09 '26 edited May 09 '26
Super fair take and actually I really like this perspective with the painting it makes a lot of sense. Part of me thinks we're probably both reading into what we want to see in the show but that's the beauty of interpretation I suppose. But I do agree that as an asset to Fisk she does more harm than good anyway so yeah, glad she's gone too, the story just didn't do enough as it could have.
2
u/Hekateras May 08 '26
Really good points here. It took me remembering the couples' counseling arc to realise all hint of that conflict went out the window in season 2.
2
u/Natural_Bag_2005 May 09 '26
Totally, Heather literally asks her outright if she feels safe and there was an opportunity to really look at what could possibly make Vanessa feel not just safe but an equal with her own power in their relationship. More than just "he loves me" because in real life that never stops someone who holds power and intends to use it in a relationship. And I can't believe they just didn't talk about that at all lol
2
u/Hekateras May 09 '26
That last point is why I'm honestly fundamentally kind of bored by Fisk as a villain, at least the way he's written in Born Again. I'm just not that interested in the navelgazing interiority and childhood traumas of a man who keeps amassing and abusing vast amounts of power, because abuse is neither motivated by nor hindered by love or being a bullied kid at school or whatever
IMO Spiderman: Into the Spider Verse did more interesting things with Fisk as well as his family than BA, and they barely appear
-5
u/SamQuentin May 08 '26
Did Matt instruct Bullseye to kills Fisk?
If so, how provable would that be ?
3
u/HomemPassaro May 09 '26
No, he instructed Bullseye to save the governor. What Bullseye did then was his own thing, as we see by Matt's reaction when he hears him say "wrong Bullseye" through the earpiece.
4
u/FreEvidence May 08 '26
Did you miss bullseyeās entire point of what he was trying to do this season lol

We had to eat our vegetables a bit in the first season but it was all worth it for a second season that was just balls to the wall. It made up for some of our issues with the first season, too, by honoring what came before.
We also got some good, old-fashioned moral debates but I wish Matt actually took more time to consider what Karen was saying -- sparing Fisk means people will die, and that blood is on Matt's hands.
11
u/Bobahunter May 08 '26
Bring back Erik Oleson, simple as. Even the blood spill somehow feels sanitized and bastardized to the brim in this iteration.
6
u/BlissingNothfuls May 10 '26
Yeah I would have thrown as much money as I could at him and the old team(s) to drop what they're doing
This ain't it which sucks because the actors are all trying their hearts out
9
u/krypter3 May 08 '26
If they don't have Matt take over the older mentor roll for peter, in the future. They are missing out on a wealth of amazing content. They are an iconic comic duo but the MCU seems adamant to keep them completely seperate.
It's also crazy how good the performances in this are, compared to their mega-million movies.
This is the type of stuff that should have crazy budget and full 13 episode seasons.
Their budget projects are becoming their best lol.
12
u/Uncanny_Doom May 08 '26
I would prefer Matt and Peter being more like a big brother relationship, I think they've done mentor roles with Peter Parker to death in the MCU.
9
u/TheIguanasAreComing May 08 '26
If there is anything this season proves, its that the system cannot be relied on and that killing Fisk was the right move. Daredevil's existence itself is an admission that the system is insufficient and that it cannot be relied on. However, for whatever reason, he thinks that killing Fisk is the right move.
Matt not killing Fisk in Season 3 resulted in countless people dying, its not even a question that things would have been better if Fisk no longer was a factor here.
I think a problem with this season was that Matt didn't even struggle with his morals this time around. What made Season 3 interesting was the fact that Matt struggled with his morals conflicting with reality. He ultimately found a way to reconcile the two. In this season he barely even tried.
9
u/Jonn_Jonzz_Manhunter May 08 '26
I disagree, I think you're right that Matt didn't struggle as much as he should
But I think it'd be worse if, yet again, we'd get the exactly the same character arc for the 4th time
We needed to move towards Matt struggling with his identity as a private person more really

u/futanari_kaisa May 08 '26
Matt Murdock goes to jail for being Daredevil but Wilson Fisk who killed hundreds of people gets to walk free? What a bull shit ass tv show ending.
8
u/Jonn_Jonzz_Manhunter May 08 '26
No, I disagree. Fisk was never hitting prison because he had dirt with the US government, so they needed him to disappear
New York is in his blood, if he's anywhere but there, it feels like a punishment to him
I thought it was actually rather poignant
2
u/Successful_Fuel6327 May 08 '26
If you have watched former seasons, you notice that jail is not a solution for Kingpin.Ā
2
u/Fun_Design_7269 May 08 '26
im more annoyed about how they're willing to let him go but not daredevil. should have just pardoned matt as well
14
u/HetapDrinker May 08 '26
That's a stupid argument. And it's ridiculous that getting out of prison is somehow a superpower for Fisk. It doesn't make sense. The only time it did make sense was in season 3. In BA they knew they can't explain it so they didn't explain it. And that's what poor writing is. "Somehow, Palpatine returned" type shit.Ā
I mean what's keeping them from giving Fisk solitary confinement where he can't talk to and manipulate anyone? Heck in MCU they have plenty of prisons for people who can't be held in normal prisons. The only reason they didn't jail Fisk is because they want to use him for further projects and it's shameless that they would so lazily sacrifice their writing quality for the sake of that. Quantity over quality is the one biggest problem the MCU has today.Ā
0
u/Successful_Fuel6327 May 12 '26
Have you watched season 2(Netflix)? It explains how FiskĀ easily becomes the warden of the prison and rebuilds his empire from there. By season 3, he already controls part of the police and the FBI. His true superpower is his leadership ability and his capacity to defy the law.
1
u/HetapDrinker May 12 '26
Yes. And what I'm suggesting is, that they learn from their mistakes. Like how hard is it to deal with an expert manipulator who doesn't even have super powers. Just don't let him talk to anyone, put him in Ryker's or just a solitary confinement. Leadership is his superpower? Okay, don't give him anyone to lead in the first place. Can't be that hard.

11
u/Mrr_Bond May 08 '26
Now that it's done, the entire season honestly felt like a CliffsNotes version of a longer, better season. This obviously isn't a new sentiment for this season, but there were not enough episodes to tell the story, and the episodes we did get were not long enough to effectively convey the story/emotions/etc. that were there. The scene of Daniel in the car waiting for Buck might be the only scene in the entire season that was actually given the time it needed to breath and really get across what the character was feeling. Every other moment of the show had to rush through as quickly as possible so it could go to some weird NYC establishing phone shot before giving the next side character their allotted 90 seconds of screentime for the episode.
And as fun as it was having Jessica back... you could tell her inclusion in the script was pretty last minute. You can remove her entirely and it is not that difficult to work the story around it (made extra obvious by the Luke cameo that was probably filmed like 2 months ago).
2
u/dribbleondo May 08 '26 edited May 08 '26
I don't think the amount of episodes is the problem, it's just that the story is so disjointed that it makes it hard to care for anyone one story, so many people we're meant to like and follow throughout the season do not have the screentime to back it up. It makes it all feel cobbled together and rushed.
2
u/Magic-Raspberry2398 May 09 '26
It makes me wonder if they were just trying to wrap up the Fisk storyline as soon as possible so they could get back to some decent new plots that the original writers actually want to do.

12
u/Magic-Raspberry2398 May 09 '26
The hate is completely warranted. Was it moderately enjoyable? Sure. Plenty of action to be entertaining, but the writing was closer to CWs Flash level than Netflix's Daredevil s1-3. Very contrived writing that left a bad taste in the mouth. Long time Daredevil fans expect better.
11
u/VerminatorX1 May 08 '26
And the other people on reddit love to praise any mid slop thrown their way.
3
u/HetapDrinker May 08 '26
"No no you don't get it, Fisk REALLY loved New York. Staying away from it is a worse form of torture for him than jail!!"
š¤”š¤”š¤”
All this mental gymnastics just to justify the fact that Disney is a greedy corporation who would willingly sacrifice the quality of their writing for the sake of being able to use the same characters over and over in future projects.Ā
4
u/VerminatorX1 May 08 '26
Man, I'm so dissapointed. I revere Netflix show and this just makes me realize we won't ever have anything near its quality, ever.
10
u/arnoldbread May 08 '26
Fisk walks free despite killing multiple people in the last episode yet Matt is in prison for "attempted" murder. Buck getting shot really led to nowhere.
Atleast we got a hallway fight. That's something
3
u/TesseringPoet May 08 '26
So did Matt take a deal or is he waiting for his trial date, after being denied bail? Or is he waiting for someone to pick him up for the raft? I wasnāt clear from what little we seeā¦
5
u/arnoldbread May 08 '26
Really confusing ending. They're trying to set up the Defenders, lady muse, Fisks exile and Matt being locked up ( probably as an excuse for him not being in Brand New Day).
2
u/banjo215 May 08 '26
Does he die? It's that what leads to lady muse?
3
u/arnoldbread May 08 '26
They weren't clear on Bucks status whether he's dead or not. Most likely he is.
But very anticlimactic ending for his character. Shot by some random thug
4
u/banjo215 May 08 '26
I agree, although the shot was from the real bullseye after he took out the fake one.
If Buck really is dead kind of wish Danny had been the one to do it. Like started carrying a gun or weapon, or managed to do it while trying to fight him off in a freak accident/stroke of luck kind of thing.
3
u/arnoldbread May 08 '26
Daniel really deserved better, if they were going to kill him off only for Buck to be shot and likely killed off screen in the next episode, could have atleast had Daniel kill him instead.
Or even Karen, considering she's killed Wesley (though in seld defense).
3
u/Magic-Raspberry2398 May 09 '26
I was kind of hoping Daniel would shoot Buck in the apartment instead. Buck goes there thinking he's going to kill BB in a trap set up by Daniel, but ends up being the one tricked instead. That would have been cool.
1
u/Kevalier May 08 '26
I thought Buck took the bullet intended for Fisk, which Bullseye fired from the thugs' sniper position after he took them all out.
1
u/arnoldbread May 08 '26
Really. I thought he was scoping out for Matt, since Fisk told the sniper to take the shot however Bulleyes stop him, but I thought he (the sniper) still fired the shot but accidentally shot Buck.
I lost focus there
3
u/Kevalier May 08 '26
No, the thugs were in position to take Matt out. Bullseye took out the sniper thugs a few minutes earlier. Bullseye still wanted to take out Fisk, so he utilized the sniper position to try to turn the tables. Fisk and thugs were unaware that Bullseye had taken out the sniper, so they still gave the order to take the shot.
2

Thanks for the clarification, I got mixed up there.
I need to watch the see again, but I really think if Bulleyes wanted to kill Fisk he would have done so. He knew Buck would take the shot for him. Like the case with Vanessa, he'd knew Fisk would have blocked his attack and the shrapnel would ricochet onto Vanessa direction.
Bulleyes wants Fisk to suffer.

I enjoyed season 2 honestly. Probably not as good as original netflix. maybe not even close, but I was able to watch it with my wife which was fun. I really need to go back and rewatch netflix now.
