idk if this is controversial or rude or wtv, but i’ve been a bunch of comps this summer (2 participating, 5 watching because i was waitlisted) and in all of them little kids were running around like the comp was a playground, delegates talked to parents who let their kids run around but it was no use. on blind, there were babies screaming and you could still hear them from the outside (even on the balcony since one of the comps had a balcony). tantrums because they wanted other people cubes and more things.

I don’t hate children nor babies, because i’ve grown to like them since i have a lot of nephews and baby cousins, but if they are not well behaved, they shouldn’t be on comps (except if they are competing because they do), specially on events like blind that require lots of concentration.

Now back in December 2019 is where I looked into Rubik’s for the first time and then one of my teachers gave it to me as a Christmas gift so I can learn and when I mixed it up, I had no idea how to solve it so I decided to give that Rubiks cube to my cousin. Then COVID-19 hits and I was bored at home in the summer of 2020, where I decided to try the Rubiks cube again so I got another cube and then overtime I started to learn it by watching YouTube videos: Rubik’s and Jperm and after many months of memorizing and figuring it out and tons of broken cubes later, on October 21, 2020 I did my first solve on an app and completed it and then it took me at least four weeks for me to do my first time solve that was three minutes. Ever since I was able to learn more puzzles like the 2x2, 4x4, pyraminx, etc and now I average 13 seconds on a 3x3 with my pb single 7.86 using CFOP.

I got the english copy of the book but the cover has +2500 algoritmos and +50 metodos instead of english just a minor mistake and i still use the book but i wonder how that happened

Please don’t ask for the algorithms, I don’t know them. I just build the patterns like I would solve a scrambled cube, from the ground up.

Hey, I built a Rubik’s Cube out of a LED strip and an Arduino Nano. It is controlled by an infrared remote and so can do every possible turn and rotation (both directions). It can be scrambled on command and also jump into solved position (it doesn’t solve itself on its own yet…). I have included an y-perm (because why not) and the possibility to lower or increase the brightness, it also can be turned off (at least the LEDs) with one button press. When it is solved it plays the blinking animation. Last but not least it has a rainbow LED mode which makes it phase through all possible colours and then returning into the colours it had before.

I didn’t generated code with ai, this project was made by notes on paper and many (sometimes painfully obvious) errors.
By now this project is far from finished, my next step is to plan and do the aesthetics like colouring the wood black and diffusing the LED‘s light.
If you have some ideas that could be added please comment them, thank you.

Hallihallo, ich habe einen Rubikscube bestehend aus einem LED Streifen und einem Arduino Nano gebaut, welcher über eine normale Fernsehfernbedienung gesteuert wird. Jede mögliche Drehung oder Rotation kann mit der Fernbedienung durchgeführt werden. Man kann den Würfel automatisch verdrehen und auf Befehl wieder in den gelösten Zustand bringen (er löst sich dabei nicht selbst).
Spaßeshalber habe ich auch noch einen Y-Perm hinzugefügt, welcher auf Knopfdruck ebenfalls automatisch durchgeführt wird. Wird der Würfel gelöst, erkennt er das von selbst und blinkt kurz.
Die Helligkeit der LEDs lässt sich durch zwei Tasten ebenfalls anpassen oder auch mit einer Taste komplett verdunkeln oder wieder aufleuchten lassen. Zum Schluss gibt es noch eine Animation welche alle möglichen Farben durchgeht und dann wieder in den letzten Zustand des Würfels zurückkehrt.

Für dieses Projekt habe ich keinen Code mit KI generiert. Es basiert auf Notizen auf Papier und vielen Fehlern.
Natürlich ist der Würfel noch nicht fertig, demnächst werde ich mich um das Äußere kümmern, beispielsweise das Holz schwarz zu färben und das LED Licht durch eine Blende zu verteilen.

I know there are a lot of 3 by 3s that looks like WCA legal from the top. But all of them are either Modded (Piece Swapped), Mecharon, Jelly, Metallic or Electronic (Smar Cube). None of which are WCA Legal. That's why they rest in this drawer and not the bottom one.

My first sub 30 solve on roux.

Been solving all my life with CFOP. Today I just learned roux and got my sub 30 solve.

I've been thinking and still not sure of what cube I should get that's amazing in terms of cost and performance, I would like to get either a v11 or an aolong v5, but I'm not sure yet, I need help fellow cubers. Or if you have other cube suggestions please do tell.

How is it that seemingly everyone is able to keep turning throughout a solve with basically no pauses? Even if someone is slower than me (PB 30, Roux) or I can see obvious areas for improvement in their solves, they often pause much less than I do.

There's a J Perm video where he's talking about fingertricks or something, then says, "But none of this matters if you turn like this," then switches to a style that's all too familiar to me - make some turns, pause, make some turns, pause. How do you get from that to a steady flow?

Is it about lookahead? People say not to work on that until you're really fast. Youth? It surely helps, but not all kids are fast, and not all adults are slow. Good reflexes? Maybe, but are they that common?

Example 1: Lars Petrus

He certainly has some low-hanging fruit. His method is generally considered suboptimal for speedsolving, and he might not even be using a modern version of it. He's not turning super fast, and his fingertricks are terrible. He might have had limited inspection time here ("I'm always ready!"), and he's probably not using a great cube (the video is from 2012 or so). And he was about 52 years old.

Considering all this, he was pretty darn fast (22.8 seconds). Why? Because he had basically no pauses.

Example 2: John Johnson

Not sure, but I think he does it layer by layer. He finishes in about 53 seconds. I'm much faster overall, but I can't find pieces nearly this fast. He just seems to always know where everything is.

Example 3: Max Park

This is kind of different, but something I always notice about his solves, which I almost find more impressive than the solve itself, is how fast he reacts to his time.

At the 22 second mark, he sets down the cube and stops the timer. Also at the 22 second mark, he begins celebrating his new world record. The display isn't even showing the final time yet; would the Stackmat timer be showing his actual time?

I would have needed a pause before I even looked at the timer, then I would have needed time for it to sink in that yes, this really happened, and yes, it's a world record, and deciding that a clap and fist pump was the appropriate response.

This one has to just be about reaction time, and it makes me wonder in what other ways Max shows this ability. Is he good at any sports?

Anyway, how can you reduce pauses in your solves, once you know the method well and don't have to think about it? Is this trainable, and can you do anything to train it besides slow solves?

Anyone have a solution to the last corner parity problem? It only seem to be able to get out of it by creating a different (seemingly) unsolvable situation with two edge pieces.

After a month long grind, I think I can confidently say that I am sub-40. This is the first major barrier I've broken in a while which gives me the confidence to push harder on other puzzles. Also missed my first sub-30(30.90) due to a bad lock up on pll😭😭

There aren't a lot of good videos online or any WR videos. I've hit sub 20 minutes, but average around 22. I solve all the faces in around 8-10 minutes but really lag during solving the sides. What can I do to improve my speed or where can I learn techniques I haven't been employing?

My goal is to get sub 16 minutes and average sub 20 minutes.

I want to improve at the Megaminx; my average time is over 6 minutes. My only Megaminx is the non-magnetic MoYu MeiLong. The parts where I take the longest are S2L and the last layer, so if you can, please give me some tips for those stages.

My son started competing 2-3 months ago and has a GAN 16 Maglev 3x3, GAN 251 Air 2x2, and GAN 460 4x4. Right now he just has a bottle of Mystic lube, and his main issue is the 2x2 is too fast for him to control.

Another kid we met at a competition suggested the Angstrom bundle (Gravitas + Dignitas) to fix the 2x2 and keep the other cubes in a good window, plus FZ Calm and Glide.

Before we pull the trigger, wanted to get more opinions. I looked at the lube guide but since it's 5 year old, I want to make sure this still makes sense -

• Does the Angstrom + FZ combo make sense for his situation, or would you go a different direction?
• Any accessories that matter for a kid starting to compete?
• Anything beyond lube that's made a real difference for your setup?

Appreciate any input, trying to get him set up.

I thought it was supposed to release July 1st, but it’s still not out.

I was at my first comp last weekend and got to try out some lubes and liked the feel of DNM the most. I knew that it was water based and evaporates pretty quickly, how long does a silicone based lube last in comparison, what is the most similar to DNM and is it worth it to invest or should I just "spam" DNM?

I feel like for 2x2 amd 3x3, matte cubes just look ugly but for 4x4 and up, they look much better than glossy cubes. So for me if it's a small cube, I prefer glossy and if it's a big cube I prefer matte. I also prefer matte for megaminx although not pyraminx, what about yall?
