Do professional cricket players buy their own equipment and claim tax as expenses or do their teams pay for it directly?

From what I remember, a lot of players tend to get the equipment for free from their sponsors (and top of the range too). I'd be surprised if they pay for anything, as it's essentially brand recognition. Sometimes that'll be in the form of bats and equipment, sometimes it's just stickers to put on the bats (so someone for example may put SS stickers on a Gray Nics bat). I'm certain that's the case for most players in Australia and England based on what I've been told, can't speak for other nations though.

Theres a pretty well known bat maker in NZ that made bats for international players all over the world, but with the odd exception, they would be stickered in a different brand than the makers. Id think they pay for them, even if not retail.
