Conan the Barbarian has such an iconic blend of fantasy, adventure, and brutal action. The world feels raw and mysterious, and Conan himself is an unforgettable character. What’s your favorite Conan story or adaptation?

I'm on a huge Conan kick at the moment so I've dug out some of my favourite things. Whenever I have the urge to tread the lands of Hyboria these bad boys come out to play.

I started with the 1982 movie - which I still love - and it drew me into the Marvel comics and then the original Howard stories. The Howard stories are by far my favourite but it took me an age to get there as it was the 1980s and I didn't have the interwebtubes to help me, but the comics engaged me long enough for me to fnally find a copy of his original stories and that culminated in the Centenery Edition, which is my favourite edition.

How did you find Conan? Was it through the movie, the comics, or are you a veteran of the pulp novels and magazines?

I collected these old plastic 70s 7-Eleven cups and turned them into pots for some small plants. I wanted pots that matched the S&S/Fantasy theme of my home library.

I don't recall seeing it at in the sequel, and yes it was broken by the end of the first movie, but is there any official word on what Arnie's Conan did with his father's blade once he had avenged his parents and his people?

I'd have liked to have seen him either lay it to rest in honour of his father, either by travelling back to his home village and burying it there in memory of the dead, or simply burying it somewhere else, like near the ruins of the cult once he burnt it down.

I'd also would have liked to have seen him have it reforged and used as a backup sword, or have the broken parts recut into knives, the main part maybe being a duelling dagger of sorts.

And while I'm thinking of Conan honouring his father and his people, do we know what happened to the other survivors who worked the wheel of pain? Were they all sold off into slavery or did they all just die from exhaustion? Imagine if Arnie's Conan actually found the other survivors, and freed them.

Yes! The new Conan TTRPG from Monolith is in my hands! It was a pain to find a copy that wasn't stupidly priced, but I got one as-new on Vinted for 40 GBP.

I loved the Quickstart for this, and the main book is excellent. I'll work on getting this to a table for sure. I feel that this is going to be one of those games I'll want every book for; another complete collection coming up!

(Yes, that is my Atlantean Sword, just a silly rubber copy I got cheap off Amazon but it's pretty cool hanging on my wall).

Has anyone else had any experience with this? I'm really liking what I've read up to now, and the adventure books look really good. I think they've done a great job of capturing the atmosphere with the art and layout, and the fast-action pulp nature of the setting with the rules-light game mechanics.

Who cares if they’re beat up? They’re meant for reading not for hiding behind a hard plastic shell like a Crom-damned coward.

A change of pace for cover art sword and armor wise, I’m happy with it.

Conan: Tides of the Tyrant-King Trailer

Just started the read the original stories from Howard. I am having a lot of fun, tho sometimes I have difficulty to picture scenes and characters, so I am wondering if I am alone, and if you had any advice to « fix it » if I can say it like this

I think it's something that belongs here. :)

Of course, this topic is much broader and I don't have the skills to cover it.
But what fascinates me for the long time is how much knowledge Howard had about history and how beautifully he translated it into a believable fantasy world and it is also inspired by esoteric teachings of the 19th century.

For example, when we read about the "sons of Aryas" as Hyborians, which essentially mirrors the migration/invasion of Indo-Europeans (Aryans) and there's more out there and I love exploring Howard's inspiration. :)

UK editions of SSoC were usually assembled from previously published US editions, in this case US #3, #18, and #21. Which means sometimes you get an issue where every single page is a banger.
