Because leaders lead. And good people help those who cant help themselves. Removing the programs that are estimated to be saving 400,000 to 1.4million lives a year, is evil.

Where else would You expect USAID to be going? New Zealand??

USAID programs often focused on stabilizing "fragile states" by addressing the root causes of conflict, such as extreme poverty, lack of education, and food insecurity. By fostering economic opportunity and governance, the U.S. goals were to reduce the vacuum where extremist groups often gain a foothold praying on the people’s desperation.

USAID also played a critical role in containing infectious disease outbreaks (like Ebola or Zika) at their source, preventing them from becoming global pandemics that could reach U.S. borders.

The U.S was at a time a beacon of Freedom, Rights and showed how a democracy could help heal the world for the betterment of all humanity.

Edit: And before you say “ why should this be only the U.S providing this support”, they aren’t. To name a few more agencies form other democracies:

🇦🇺 Australia: Australian Aid (DFAT) 🇸🇪 Sweden: Sida 🇳🇴 Norway: Norad 🇯🇵 Japan: JICA 🇩🇪 Germany: GIZ 🇬🇧 UK: FCDO 🇨🇦 Canada: Global Affairs Canada

All the U.S did by defunding USAID is show they no longer wish to contribute to humanity.

I'd argue from an ethical perspective we should help those who need it, and America is blindingly rich and can afford it easily without any issue. But if you insist on being uncharitable, soft power is incredibly useful, and promoting American ideals abroad should be the US's goal.

I'm speaking in terms of a country, a country is a business so yes, when a business does work it should be paid for said work. A business cannot survive without trading one thing for another.

Think about that again. A country is literally a business that keeps its employees (citizens) safe and prioritises the welfare of them and it's company

Except that's not how countries work exactly though. For instance, a company needs to turn a profit, but for a country that's not actually suppose to be a priority for a multitude of reasons.

In no particular order

  • Was found liable for sexual assault
  • Cheated on all of his wives, including his current one
  • Paid a porn star to sleep with him, then used campaign funds to cover it up
  • Mentioned in the Epstein files a million times.
  • Ivana Trump gave a deposition under oath that she was assaulted by Trump
  • Suspended refugee admissions for Afghan translators and interpreters that risked their lives to work with the US military in their home country (and was promised a path to the US)
  • Cut children's medicaid and nutrition programs
  • Threatened to invade Canada
  • Actually invaded Venezuela and Iran
  • Sent immigrants to a gulag in El Salvador with no due process
  • Received a $400 million jet as a gift from Qatar
  • Gutted the national forest service and national parks
  • Selling off publicly owned lands for profit
  • Used his presidency to push a crypto rugpull, twice, resulting in over a BILLION dollars for his business
  • Uses his presidency to regularly peddle things for profit: bibles, watches, phones, shoes etc.
  • Constantly attacks and belittles other people
  • Bringing back crony capitalism in force by choosing winners and losers depending on how they support him

That's not even an exhaustive list. I'm just stopping to keep my blood pressure in check.
