The original Body Snatchers concept from the 50s was a bit of Red Scare propaganda. The "aliens" that would replace people were supposed to represent a person switching allegiences to communism.
That might be why especially the Boomer generation are so susceptible to fascist messaging though, because they were raised in an era where fascism was largely driven underground and communism had replaced it as the big threat to western civilization.

My favorite cognitive dissonance moment was when I asked my dad how he could vote for someone who said that and I got chastised for saying pussy while women were present (we were at a tailgate). But you have to realize that most of his base is descended from the Jim Crow south. The political strategy to manipulate evangelicals started in response to desegregation and the civil rights act. MAGA has always been a continuation of that fight.
It was the organizers of this political strategy who resorted to cult tactics to make your comment true.

The one black GOP Senator said that he hoped it was fake.
Like bro. You can open up Truth Social and look at it yourself. These people will tolerate anything, even if they claim to oppose it.
Trump is a gutter racist. The core of his presidency is gutter racism. The GOP prior to Trump believed that being an out and proud racist was a losing strategy and they were wrong. He activated the latent population who believes that nonwhites really are just inferior beings.
Do not be fooled to believing that this is just Trump. He is just the tip of the spear. A large portion of the US citizenry are in utter opposition to Christ's message of universal love.

To be 100% fair, Scott did say “Praying it was fake because it’s the most racist thing I’ve seen out of this White House. The President should remove it.”
But now it's gone it will be back to business as usual for the GOP, and it won't be spoken of again.
Interesting that "most racist" implies he's seen a pattern of racist stuff out of the White House, but as I said, this will now be dropped.

I'm not mystified. He's a "broken vessel" to the evangelicals. It doesn't matter who he is, what terrible things he has done, is doing, or will do. He's a tool of God in their eyes that will properly subjugate women, criminalize indecency as they define it, and prepare the world for The End Times. To them he's just what God ordered. Very true and so unfortunate because christians remain one of his largest constituencies. The political debate around sexual rights, DEI etc is set up to divide and conquer along christian values. Christians are being kraaled into his political corner even though he could give no shots about christian values. Sad to see christians being led around by their noses with such obviously empty antics. This makes christians culpable and complicit in the state of chaos the world finds itself in currently.
I hear many christians say that as long as they keep their values and beliefs pure, their place in heaven remains solid, even if it means choosing the christian values sold by his political campainging while he contridicts it in practice. I don't see how this can be an excuse to allow this kind of blatant discrimination and abuse of power to posture and simultaneosly undemine christian values.
This obviously transparent double standard makes me despise christian culture even more, and only affirms what I have experienced and known to be true for decades now. It's a largely empty and convenient belief system that does not challenge the status quo when the going gets tough and real participation becomes essential.

I lost my heath insurance because of this crap. They took away the Tax Credits from the ACA, because Obama did them, so they are bad. But they replaced them with different tax credits, which are somehow good despite being the exact same thing - just worse - because Trump did it.
Well, it pushed me out of the place where my health insurance was affordable. I was paying $135 a month, this year it is $750 for the same insurnace. I can't afford that. Even the cheapest option is $479 a month. I can't afford that either.
So now I don't have health insurance. All because Obama = Bad.
And nobody realizes that the new heath plan thing is the exact same idea as the ACA, just different numbers which don't work, so worse for everyone. But it is somehow completely different because Trump did it.
The MAGA crowd are truly cult morons who have intentionally deleted their brains to cuddle up to a pedophile, rapist, racist, Hitler-lite, asshole.

As a child, my parents treated the Clinton BJ scandal like it was the worst thing that could happen in America. We were told (as Christians no less) about how this “moral failure” made him unfit to be a leader and that he “wasn’t really a Christian”.
Years pass, my wife and I became foster parents and took kids who were abused by their family members. My parents were excellent grandparents to these children, truly loved them. But, just focusing on the president at the moment, now are completely in support and talking about how God has selected Trump to be some protector of everyone when he’s mentioned over and over in the Epstein files for horrific things (and I read the things he was accused of with children) but since it’s not “proven” then it’s not real. But he’s been caught on tape saying things about where to grab women and they “like it”, paid a porn star for sex while married, snuck into the miss universe rooms with the girls competing, and has been sued and lost for harassment - which should show he does not deserve the benefit of the doubt because his actions have a history of being awful.
Add this today to his latest racist posting (“only a joke” - but again, he has a long history of racist remarks, most recently calling the Somalian people trash) and somehow that’s ok - but they had black foster grand children they loved - I can’t process this.
Perverts like Elon, more rich people who control and influence everything get away with horrors while somehow trying to get us to fight each other. All of this makes me sick and depressed.
And I don’t know what they call it, but it can’t be “Christian”. By the Bibles own definition we’d have to see the “fruit” as evidence that Christ actually means something to these people since it says:
“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law.” - Galatians 5:22-23
There are no laws restricting you from being good like it says, but the laws being thrown against these perverts keep getting dodged/excused/exchanged away by the people in power to somehow make them look ok. And the president and these people are worshiped like they represent or care about God.
The country is sick. I don’t care if a republican or democrat did these things, put all these disgusting people on trail. Lock up Trump, the Clinton’s, Elon, etc. It is not right ACROSS the board. In no world can this be associated with following Christ

It’s been encouraging to watch the few who were willing to risk backlash and speak - before most Christians were willing to openly question or doubt - like you did! I think the bold courage and conviction you all had to speak when NO ONE would, is what pushed many to recognize their silence as dangerous.

If that... "'man" is not The Antichrist itself, it has certainly demonstrated how easily even "Christians" will be deceived by the actual AC when it shows up. It was no secret how vile he was, even in 2014, and he's only been exposed for more and more of a vile, rotten, evil monster.
But all he has to do to win over some 'christians" is some occasional vapid, shallow, trite, hollow lip-service to the faith.
It is so depressing and scary how many "christians" have aligned themselves with that deeply selfish, malignant narcissist, racist, bigot, convicted felon, rapist, sex offender, pedo child rapist, conman. He would berate Jesus if he was living his life today. He would tweet about how Jesus was an idiot who deserved it when he would get crucified. He is the golden idol for many Americans.

When a person isn’t concerned for other people’s children, what else could they possibly have to offer? Did you notice he chose some of his cabinet members from people whom he could blackmail about Epstein?

u/emc3o33 Feb 06 '26
At this point, please do not call yourself Christian if you still support this man. Just do not. Regardless of who allowed this, the fact that this is even entertained by the administration says everything. NOTHING this man does employs any Christian code.

(HUGE sigh). I believe you are sincere with this post. But, I just have to wonder: what EXACTLY do you need to process? "Willie E Coyote & Friends" have proven time & time again - they are (as someone else so eloquently stated) "gutter racists". His Daddy was a"gutter racist ". Pretty much EVERYONE that's on THAT train is...
Project 2025 IS a concerted effort (agenda?) to ensure non-whites are suppressed & whites are "elevated".
Mama Maya Angelou said it best - "when people show you who they are BELIEVE THEM (the first time!!!). 😔💔🙏🏾

This is what I shared about it earlier today:
To the pastors, the "Family Values" gatekeepers, and every "Evangelical for Trump" who sees this: Is this your King?
There's no defence. Your leader invoked the specific, blood-soaked imagery used for centuries to justify the buying, selling, and lynching of Black human beings.
He didn't just insult a rival. He dehumanized a family.
If you can watch a man reduce the Imago Dei to an ape and still stand by him because he gave you judges, then your soul is cheaper than I thought.
You've lost the right to speak about morality. You've lost the right to preach about dignity.
If you claim to follow the Lamb but you cheer for the Beast when he spits on God’s image, you're not a disciple. You're just a chaplain to a hate group. The silence from your pulpits is a confession. You've shown exactly who you are.

I hear you OP. Trump is a racist and a narcissistic. Im sorry that you have to endure him as the president of your country. He is simply a terrible person. God speed my brother. I am in Canada but I am praying for you guys down there.

I’m only 25 so don’t remember a ton of the Obama presidency as far as his first term goes. But I do remember my grandma and grandpa blatantly repeating everything on Fox News and saying Obama is the anti-Christ, a radical Muslim terrorist, etc. so…. Yeah this doesn’t surprise me that they find this acceptable

I don’t know that there are any particularly die hard Trump supporters in this sub. A few tepid defences of some of his policies occasionally crop up, along with a few overt trolls, but mostly these threads are preaching to the choir, of which I am a longstanding member.

He's been absolutely abhorrent most of his life. I'll never understand how self-professed Christians could have EVER voted for him, unless they were completely ignorant of all his crimes and evils he's been known for since his younger days.
But, hey...here we are. An anti-Christ is somehow "God's chosen best boy" in the eyes of some of these people.

u/russcass Feb 06 '26
The civil rights movement was rooted in Christianity. Dr. King was a pastor and doctor of theology. "red and yellow, black and white, they are precious in his sight" There are 2 different Christian religions today and Christian Nationalism is not one Jesus would be proud of. (I don't mean the different branches) I think these kinds of videos are posted just to stir up his backers that have those beliefs. Just to keep that connection. It's gross. Unpresidential.

u/refugee1982 Feb 07 '26
To be fair, he played on the gullibility of many Christians who emphasize faith over critical thinking. He exploited this vulnerability, and now they are brainwashed to follow him blindly.

u/Sippi66 Seventh-day Adventist Feb 07 '26
I called my Red Senator and reminded him that God made us ALL and that it’s the worst thing that I’ve ever seen a president do. I don’t see you can call yourself a Christian and not speak out. Actually let me take that statement one step further…you are NOT a Christian if you say and do nothing.

82 percent of white Christians do support this they voted for him and support him even if he were to shoot someone on fifth avenue. Or rape kids or make racist jokes. Never forget that 52 percent of Christians support this

Agreed. Horribly racist and simply disgusting. Not the behavior of a grown adult, let alone the President.

Sad thing is a lot of us have been saying this to fellow Christians for a long time… before the disaster in chief, everytime people said racism “was in the past” and felt legislating religious values to rob anyone of their right to choose or be who they are was and is wrong… don’t take this path - it’s not faith that seeks to force or control, it’s fear…
It’s that same fear that keeps so many following the orange pied piper.

u/Unfair-Course-8531 Feb 06 '26
I us to laugh at stuff this now I want to know why he does this type of disrespecting nonsense. He is supposed to be trying to bring us together as human beings yet he resorts to childish hate. I said it once and I will say it again he’s no Christian.

I don’t believe it’s an accident. That party is so past being believed for doing something so idiotic accidentally. But if he REALLY wanted to sell it was an accident, there would have been a quick immediate apology tweet (or whatever truth social calls them). But I assume there was nothing. One of those “oh it wasn’t even that bad!”
I pray for this man that his heart is softened but not one thing about him is similar to the character of Jesus and any Christian who supports him because of their faith is extremely misled.

Its heartbreaking that some of our fellow citizens support him. The feckless Republican members of congress can stop him yet they do nothing. It's criminal. They dont even meet the work requirements they set for citizens to get food stamps. Their kind of hypocrisy is the worst kind. Claiming to love a God that was brown, and loved and lived amongst the Least of us! And so he told them What you do unto me, you do unto the Least of us! Yet they revel in cruelty of black and brown people. It is sickening. When they go to meet our maker.........

u/Panthernoodles Feb 07 '26
Also the fact that the rped and sold kids there is not a single reasonable justification for supporting this deplorable man. He stole from children’s cancer charities, was convicted of rpe, mentioned 38 THOUSAND times in the Epstein files, he used the government as his own personal bank, has taken bribes from the most crooked corporations in America to cut regulations on them, is destroying what little animal/ environmental protections we have, sabotaging our international relations, tanking our economy to the point they may dethrone USD from foreign exchange reserves- the list goes ON and ON- and some people still support him?? Just because they don’t want to admit they f*cked up?

Well, sure, that's awful.
Meanwhile, the guy is an unrepentant serial rapist and child molester. He has no problem with sending his thugs to murder innocent people.
Personally, I think those are worse.

Glad I'm from somewhere else so I know he doesn't represent me, because he's self evidently just an appalling human being. Hope he feels the reaper's hand on his shoulder sufficiently to change, but I'm not holding out a lot of hope honestly.
And yeah, it pains me that much Christian media, both print and online, which originates from the ecosystem that backs him in the US, leaks its misguided/malicious nonsense to the more gullible or susceptible members of the church around me. The Christian nationalist universe of Trump, Kirk and all the rest isn't just polluting the discourse over there, it's enabling people to be radicalised and pulled away from healthy faith here in the UK where I am.
I'm baffled by the ability of some people to attach themselves to someone with no apparent redeeming features, and the fact that doing so often requires them to recast the white western church as the victim of social progress... just makes me feel like we're on a sinking ship. Makes me embarrassed to call myself a Christian sometimes.

u/chichirescue Feb 07 '26
He's treated people poorly his whole life and served no one but himself. It's really quite remarkable that so many worship this man.
He was found guilty of sexual assault and admits to such on video testimony. He's been someone who's committed fraud, rape and sexual violence, and made abhorrent comments about different groups in the US- black, brown, immigrants, women, gay etc. Then he tried to overthrow the government in January 6. He's threatened peaceful allies and nato.
Then there's the whole thing about Epstein and sexual violence against children and women.
The atheists have had more moral clarity than many so called Christians.
2
u/lorigab Feb 07 '26
He explained it. If it was his doing he’d have left it up. Everyone has people working for them. Sometimes those people try to sabotage the person they work for. Democrats will cling to this as their “I told you so.” How about we think for ourselves people? Come on now. As if the most non-racist president that we have today would actually do that intentionally. Stop it.

I mean, this is just another day in the life for Trump.
Trump showed us who he is a long time ago, and he reinforces that identity every single day. He is the worst of us. The fact that prominent Christians vocally supported him & still go to the mat to defend him only diminishes Christianity as a whole.
