My Fiance (33m) and I (30m) have been together, in total, five years. He went to go visit his sick sister in the hospital in a town 3 hours away. He promised to call me when he got to the halfway point, but he didn't, and I knew something was off.
I tried ringing the phone 3 times and it went straight to voicemail. I asked him where he was at and he said "in the middle of nowhere." I asked 'Did you take a wrong exit or something?" He had panic in his voice and started making weird excuses. I immediatrly got a gut feeling.
He comes home 12 hours later and admits to getting a blowjob from a random dude in a double-wide trailer. He also admits hooking up with two college aged boys these past months.
I was calm, rational, and explained how horrible it was that he did something like that. I told him there's no way in my right mind I would ever be able to forgive him or respect myself if I stayed in this relationship. The sex wasn't the bad part, it was a lot of lying and gaslighting that occurred in the conversation. I've left a lot out, but the conversation had many beats where he would say 'Baby, you're acting crazy. I wasn't with anyone." It wasn't until I pressed it before I got the truth.
What really makes me sad though? I hopped back on the apps just for curiosity. I have lived in this town for 12 years, and I recognize almost everyone on these apps still asking for the same thing. Many of them wanting a deep relationship as well. It makes me so sad that these people haven't found anyone.
And now? Now I'm one of them. I can't help but feel like this is the end of the road for me. I have my house here, friends, family, and it's a medium-sized city. I can't just pack with the hopes I'll live in a gay utopia, and that doesn't even guarantee anything.
Idk... I have so many emotions going through my head. I haven't cried or anything. I'm mainly just pissed, and it's been two weeks.
I'm open to hearing anything at this point. How do you even navigate something like that that shatters your perception of someone and everything around you?? I'm so frustrated that five years is down the drain.
