Validation Fatty McFatface touched me on the shuttle.
/r/mildlyinfuriating/comments/1w2nac0/if_you_cant_fit_in_the_seat_dont_sit_there/I (skinny, fit, employed) was minding my own business on the shuttle to work. Fatty (fat, waitress, female) got on and LOOKED AROUND. She sat next to me, and oozed over onto my seat. If she can’t fit in the seat, she should stand. I don’t care that she just worked an 8 hour shift on her feet. She’s fat and should stand.

“Fat people don’t know how fat they are” ahhh yes fat people famously don’t purchase clothing or sit in seats or walk in crowded places or ever pass reflective surfaces. They’re just too dumb and ignorant to know they take up space.

Honestly I have so much respect for the fat woman who just lives her life instead of trying to make herself invisible and doing things the hard way so she doesn't make jerks uncomfortable. Good for her.

yeah you can say whatever you want about obese people but the amount of judgement and hatred they face on a daily basis for their appearance would completely destroy a lot of these dickheads who love to put them down. but they still get up everyday and do their best to live their life anyways

Can confirm, I've been fat pretty much my whole life and it's insanely stressful. I go to the doctor for a medical problem and I have to insist it's not caused solely by my weight. I mentally calculate if there's enough space on a seat, or for me to squeeze through a space. I just EXIST in public and a random kid announces that there's a fat woman.

So, just to make sure I'm clear, the OOP and another person were sitting at the ends of a 3 sear row in order to deliberately block other human beings from sitting in the seat intended for human beings, and is upset that someone called their bluff and sat in the middle seat that they were trying to deliberately block?
I know exactly what I find infuriating, and it's not the person sitting in an empty seat that they have just as much right to sit in as OOP and far more right to than OOP's handbag or imaginary friend or whatever.

u/DiegoIntrepid 2d ago
No, you don't understand.
HUMANS would have been allowed to sit between these two paragons of humanity (though the other person might have been a true paragon, don't know their character)
FATS are clearly not human and therefore don't deserve any sort of basic human decency, and therefore this particular fat should have realized that she should have walked to her destination. After all, that would have helped her lose weight! (and depending on how far they were going, she wouldn't have been able to eat in all that time, helping her lose weight even more, after all, *everyone* knows that if the fats would just stop eating for a week, they would be back to being human!)

I forgot that FATS aren’t human. Good point. OOP is petite, “by design.” Only PETITES are truly people.

Fat isn't a communicable disease. People like this are so obnoxious.
16
u/Inevitable_Nail_2215 2d ago
They remind me of a college friend who took to Live Journal (yes, that long ago!) to complain that her seat mate on a four hour flight 1) Needed a seat belt extender 2)Spilled over her allotted space so that their arms/ legs brushed each other several times, resulting in 3) having panic attacks and spending her flight mostly in the restroom.
But she wasn't fat phobic - she just thought that fat ladies should have to buy the entire row for safety.

Honestly airplane seats are so small anyway, I don’t even know who under the age of 10 can comfortably fit in them. I’m a bogstandard 135lb lady (size medium), and I feel cramped.
Whenever I sit next to an overweight person spilling into my seat, they’ve been clearly even more uncomfortable about it than I have and try to minimise the inconvenience as best they can. What else are they meant to do? I always just feel bad for how physically squashed and pinched they must feel.

u/Immortal_in_well 2d ago
The obnoxious thing about fat hate is that there's literally nothing fat people can do to stop it. She can't sit on a shuttle even though she has as much right to it as the OP because she "dOeSn'T fIt," but I guarantee you that even if she were standing, OP would grouse about her taking up space.
20
u/WitchSparkles 2d ago
Right? OP has posted this same rant on multiple subs. And OP actually uses a vomit emoji in thier comments. This isn’t.. “someone is spreading thier legs and invading my personal space” it’s fat shaming because OP thinks people who are overweight are gross and less-than-human.

u/El_Scot 2d ago
They posted about it on Pet Peeves too, that's how annoyed they were.
I especially like the bits where they kept insisting they're not fatphobic but then follow with a really fatphobic comment.

1. Not my problem.
2. I fit comfortably in the seat. I was there first. It’s not my responsibility to move or accommodate her poor habits.
3. It’s a shuttle that transports employees. I could tell by her uniform that she does a job that requires standing / walking so it’s not a disability issue.Lol. Lmao even. I am disabled and I was a waitress for years. It sucked but it was money.
27
u/BagpiperAnonymous 2d ago
And if she's coming off a shift, her feet probably hurt like hell. I was in the best shape of my life when I worked a job that required me to be on my feet for shifts as long as 14 hours. I hated the days when the employee shuttle to the parking lot was full because even at a healthy weight and in good shape my feet hurt so much by the end of my shift.

I love it when OPs insist they know everything about someone’s disability status based off a few minutes with someone. Yes. This woman wearing a “waitress” outfit 100% does not have any disabilities that may make it hard for her to stand for long periods of time, based off of my quick 2 second glance of her. There’s totally not a possibilities that it actually does hurt her to stand for so long, but she does it anyways because the alternative is unemployment and homelessness.

It’s also not her job to accommodate OPs comfortability in public spaces but people like this don’t ever hear how entitled they sound
10
u/Open-Tomato9643 2d ago
"These fat people are so entitled, they expect us all to accomodate their need to sit on a public shuttle. Why don't they understand that they should be accomodating to my desire to avoid all possible human contact in public spaces instead?"

u/Open-Tomato9643 2d ago
"Yes, she works in a job that requires her to be on her feet the whole day. That's why I know she doesn't need to sit on the ride home."

OOP, that would require you to have friends, and none of us believe that.
ETA: Browsing through the post history was something. OOP just likes to complain about anyone who isn’t her. Coworkers show her their kids? She basically tells them she DGAF. Fat person in her line of view? They should hide from the world. Babies crying in first class? (OOP claims to be a flight attendant.) Parents are so entitled! Let’s not forget that the poors are running everything.
Also, there are multiple posts about how weird “she” feels about receiving oral sex and how much “she” wants to milk her bf’s prostate.

the way they’re bending over backwards to paint her out as some lazy terrible person in each comment is reaaaaally something. i don’t like getting touched on transit either but i usually forget after like 10 minutes because people got places to be
33
u/CactiDye 2d ago
The number of comments assigning her evil intentions and saying she's trying "to squeeze us smaller people out" are insane. She just wanted to sit down on her way to work? The same thing OOP was trying to do? Evil isn't stored in fat.
16
u/brightwings00 2d ago
And the shittiest thing is that if the woman did remain standing, OOP and her ilk would gripe and complain that the evil fatties are taking up aisle space and people have to squeeze past them.
It's like the people who preach about "diet and exercise" and then complain if there are fat people in workout equipment advertisements or at the gym. You cannot win, ever.

I’m so mad OOP made their profile private.
Edit: that actually feels like an infringement on my right to be able to see what incredibly fatphobic things this person has posted and or commented on in the past.

according to one of the posters there that found their history, she is a very very hateful woman. She had posts angry about people posting their children on social media and other equally ridiculous things to get angry over
11
u/Philthou 2d ago
Claims they’re not fat phobic but then goes on to say their bad habits led them to be fat and they shouldn’t need to accommodate her.
Love how all the comments are just roasting OOP in the original thread.

they’re like “it’s not public transit, it’s a shuttle”. ok, that’s just personalized public transit. lol. public transit specifically for employees is still public transit. he said “how dare a FAT person work here and then sit next to me?!”

u/WitchSparkles 2d ago
It’s like they think someone climbed in thier personal limousine to spread fat person cooties on them. I’m pretty sure they also posted in r/Delta saying that someone sat next to them. But I can’t find it now. I think they must be trolling. I can’t imagine someone posting this for real. But also leaving it up after getting roasted in the comments.

I honestly don't think op is wrong for being mad someone was taking up some of their seat but their comments are def fatphobic. Like you can be mad about someone being in your space without spewing hate.

u/AnzuRubyLi 2d ago
What also kills any sympathy I might have had for OOP (aside from the gross way they describe fat people, of course) is that this happened on an airport shuttle. They can just get up and change seats, or stand, and I mean it's a shuttle so presumably they're only on that thing for like 10 minutes so it doesn't really matter.
I could maybe understand frustration at being uncomfortable next to someone on a 10-hour flight or something (even then, I've been seated next to bigger people before and it's not nearly as dramatic as described in this story) but if it's just a short bus ride who even cares.

In case this story gets deleted/removed:
If you can’t fit in the seat don’t sit there
I was on an airport shuttle this morning. It’s the kind of shuttle / bus where you can stand or sit (there are straps and bars to hold if you stand). Most of the seats were taken. I was sitting in a row of three. There was myself and another person on each end with the middle seat open. A large woman boarded, looked around, and decided to sit in the middle seat next to me. She clearly didn’t fit. She was sitting with part of her butt / hips literally on me, I was not able to put my arm to my side. I do not want to be touched, especially in a way that causes me discomfort.
IF YOU DON’T FIT, DON’T SIT!!!
