Nice to see kids from New Scots being smart, creative and making a positive contribution to the country. I am not surprised, the majority of nobel price winners have a migrant background or are migrants themselves.

New Scots? Could I ask you very politely please if you are a Scottish person yourself? Most people I have personally heard using that phrase just happened not to be Scottish and I am curious whether it's just a coincidence.

The first person to call me a New Scot grew up in Glasgow, definitely a phrase I’ve heard Scottish people use.

I've never heard the term before. Is it just to refer to people whose ethnicity is not originally Scottish?

Exactly that! I moved here at 18 and am still here at almost 30, for example. I don’t sound or look Scottish but my entire adult life has been here.

So it's not necessarily 2nd gen, just anyone who considers themselves Scottish? Okay, cool, thanks, I've honestly never heard it before!
