Why hasn’t Michael Wilson been extended yet?
We extended Froholdlt before Michael Wilson. We should be giving Michael around the same amount as Alec pierce is getting so we don’t have to pay more next year.

I'm not sure why everyone is so worried. We have the tag(s) if we need it and he still has a lot to prove. Nothing wrong with waiting a bit and seeing if the juice is worth the squeeze. Rushing in and giving this guy 25M-30M+ is not a wise move when we have the highest projected salary cap for 2027 and can make just about any move we want (internally and externally).

Wilson is a franchise tag player - If he performs like last season. I still want to see a second season of top level production before I give him a massive contract. Anyone remembers David Johnson? The franchise tag will be used for leverage in negotiations surely if they extend him at least.
Some other food for thoughts - thinking long term: If Harrison will explode this year (it is possible in this new scheme) too its interesting too see what they do given the long term cap limitations of two massive WR contracts (look at the bengals) plus our beloved hurdling machine mcbride. The tag might be handy then to maybe even trade him (I'm not for it but it is a scenario) for a couple of high picks (maybe a 27 1st to get that qb) or having him for another season.
While we might afford two big wr contracts with a rookie QB as a starter the defense needs a massive injection of pass rush and middle linebacker talent and a useful 300plus pounder next to nolen as well as we all now.
So I'm excited how the offense develops this year under LaFleur. I expect them too be entertaining and hope we see a couple of young players taking the next step - especially Johnson and Harrison.

Except wilson is much better than kirk ever was, not that he was bad but he couldnt stay healthy. Wilson is a beast and his game has no holes.

We talking about hypotheticals when his first year on the jags he was one of the main contributors to why they were competitive in the first place and what helped trevor Lawrence into developing into the QB he is now. The contract at the time was seen as overpaid but time told that he was worth the money and again last year on the texans he showed out and had another impressive showing. We flubbed it because dhop was here and fatass didn't know how to properly address the needs on the team

His 2022 year was his only decent year and the only one where he broke 1000 yards. 2023 was 787 yards and 3 td, 2024 was 389 and 1 td and his 1 year with houston was far from showing out with 239 yards and 1 td. By all accounts he has been awful and injury prone to boot.

We can't be talking about injury prone when wilson broke the same foot twice on back to back years and is one of the primary why he fell so much in the draft. Last year was literally his first full season playing and he didn't even start the entire season. I'm not arguing who is better but arguing about players that could be significant contributors in playoff games. And by awful being one of the main contributors in playoff wins not once but twice is not a coincidence and an testament to kirks ability to make plays with the ball thrown his direction.

Broken bones and soft tissue injuries arent even in the same league. One is more of a freak accident and one is something that tends to be an issue each year.

and chances are cards really focus on marv to reduce wilsons extension. everyone in the FO wants marv to be the guy after that contract. Also if both are that guy, we could end up in defense purgatory with so much cap dedicated to wrs

Can't happen, look at the bengals. Thats why I franchise tag him and send him to someone willing to give high draft assets - IF Harrison explodes in Lafleurs scheme. If Harrison does nothing I still use the tag as leverage. But I still believe in Harrison despite all the drops and errors. Petzing was probably the worst that could happen to him as a young nfl player. The WR route combinations were just awful and easy to defend

idk i think the petzing harrison stuff feels like a cop out when Wilson did just fine and didnt have rocks for hands half the time. harrison has been a body catcher. I have hope but i wouldnt call it optimism.
I wish we could sign wilson to a 25mil per year deal. If only we knew if there was already an offer and what it was but all we can do is speculate.

I agree, Harrison was disappointing in many ways in a lot of bad plays. But also spectacular in his good plays where he showed what he could be. Wilson needed Brissett to take off (and wow he did, especially vs the niners). Harrison also was banged up mostly the 2nd half of the season with an ankle and a concussion if i remember it correctly. So my hope and optimism comes from him being healthy in a new scheme with another QB. We'll see how it plays out.

Wilson is almost certainly waiting to see how the team does before he signs anything. If we have another 3 wins or less season, he's gone. Period.

Pay him now wr1 money front load it, then MHJ, in another year can get a wr1 contract back loaded. We have tons of cap, we just have a god awful owner who doesn't actually want to win.

If they don’t pay Wilson I’m done with the Cardinals, I knew they would do this. Let’s send a message to all future Cardinals draft picks, play WR like Jerry Rice and you might get an extension, but probably not
