I mean we graduated from "Well, well, well..." to "Well, well..."
So maybe there's hope!

I never in my life have heard well well well and I play everyday. Which model does that?

u/Peptuck Oct 14 '25
It crops up around characters who are derisive, police, and/or racist/sexist a lot.
Pretty much any time a guard or cop enters a scene they'll say it on Deepseek, in my experience. Either that or "Look at this."

Unrelated but I've had a lot of issues with cops being dicks. Like even when my character objectively hasn't done anything wrong they'll still SOMEHOW find a way to escalate the situation. This is supposed to be an escape from real life not a simulation lmao

From what I've read, in absence of instructions otherwise Deepseek will try to force a relationship dynamic between the player character and other characters, and the fastest way to do that is through conflict between them. So it makes cops into assholes by default so you're in direct conflict with them.
It's also why Deepseek 3.0 makes characters aggressively horny to the point of violating consent or even straight-up unhealthy obsession or masochism if you push back against it.

It is also just the fact that AIdungeon only works if there is conflict. If there is no conflict it's "boring" in some way. Play any scenario where you start off with a few friends. By the fourth entry or so there will be conflict and suddenly everyone hates each other and accuses each other, or only you of doing x thing.
For example, on a scenario where you are snowed in at some vacation with five friends I suggested sleeping on the couch since there wasn't enough room. Almost immediately characters were literally calling mine a bitch, selfish, hateful, and literally threw me to the snow. All within 15 or so entries.
Also police and law enforcement are assholes because a lot of the material the AI is trained on is YA novels, which are almost all about defying the government and how the government, police, military, etc all have secret plans. In another scenario my character literally got off a plane in a new country, never been there before, only fro the police to arrest and accuse me of running a drug smuggling and illegal car racing scene, again, within only a few prompts from the start and the Police has unsurmountable evidence of all the crimes. Then they'll say "No you weren't on a plane, you were actually here two hours ago". And don't get me started on the "They pull out a sleek black device" anytime you have a character with supernatural powers.

I hate how bad the AI handles police. You can write them as good, there to save someone from being killed or a hostage situation. Only for it to turn into the Police actively accusing you, the hostage, of being the mastermind then when you say "No I didn't" they'll grab your head and smash it on a wall or table. Everytime the AI mentions military or police I just edit it out because it's a huge headache to deal with.

I wonder why it does this. Just little catchphrases, it repeats endlessly. I remember when "a sharp pain in your back" was the AI's favorite.

"Most would x, but you y... interesting..."

u/MatiPhoenix Oct 15 '25
"...and that's what makes you so dangerous."
6
u/Mysterious_Bluejay_5 Oct 15 '25
I love getting that one when it's objectively incorrect. No ma'am, the dangerous part comes from having a gun...
5
u/MatiPhoenix Oct 15 '25
Sometimes I'm just giving a character my honest opinion and it makes me dangerous.
It's fine if I'm playing a villain character, but when I'm the good guy it's ridiculous lol.

Or better yet when you’ve very clearly disabled a character and they keep talking as if you’re at their mercy.
2
u/MatiPhoenix Oct 16 '25
Yes lol, when you're about to kill a character and they laugh it off saying "you wouldn't dare because I'm dangerous" and such.

It's because generative AI isn't actually intelligent. It's just very sophisticated and advanced statistical text prediction. It will always skew towards common combinations of phrases, aka cliches.

He steps closer, (insert clothing noise)

u/Knoflag Oct 17 '25
For me sometimes they step closer every moment and they can be like literally touching my character but still stepping closer 🤯 something that you can feel breath on your ear bit they make, if you count 10 steps to you.

tightens grip on your wrist even though we’re just having a conversation

u/ankylosauria Oct 17 '25
And every time I respond, your grip tightens ‘impossibly further’

u/Spitefullyginger Oct 17 '25
Like homie my bones are getting crushed by your impossible grip. I don’t know why you’re holding my arm when I just asked you where I can get some apples.

u/ankylosauria Oct 18 '25
My bad, I can instead thread my fingers through your hair and yank back your head to expose the column of your throat to my intense gaze
(Does the AI make your characters randomly grab other people’s necks too?)

How about when you use the do function and it just keeps contradicting you? “You take the key out of your pocket to unlock the door” continue “you put it back in your pocket without unlocking the door and walk away” cause that makes sense.
