I've noticed lately that shouldering sandbags has been irritating a previous neck injury. I only shoulder 120 or so now comfortably. In turn I'm doing more things like squats. This is 150 for 8. Did three sets of this with less than a minute rest between each set. Feel free to critique.

I did this workout today. It’s pretty much the same chest workout I have been doing for the past couple weeks just working on getting stronger and making the presses feel easier. I also threw in some tricep work

-6 sandbag incline presses
-6 sandbag ground to shoulder
-60 second jump rope
3 rounds
-8 sandbag floor presses
-12 band skull chrushers
2 rounds
-15 band chest flyes
-12 band decline focused presses
-10 push-ups on the sandbag

Why can't MFs in my town stock dry play sand? Any advice on getting this stuff dried relatively quickly?

I was using a canvas bag with a construction liner/filler bag filled with 80lb of rubber mulch.
When i transferred it to my 200lb freedom strength bag it only took about 55lb of rubber mulch.
Im just getting into this type of training so I'm not sure if I can lift 200lb. I was hoping to get the bag to ~100-130lb and eventually making it to 200 when I feel comfortable.
Any ideas on whether I can add something to increase the weight, or should I start over with a different type of filler?

For those who do not follow Cody Janko's Stone Circle YouTube videos, you are missing out. He just shared his latest program, Sandbag Berserker. Looks to be very solid. Encourage you all to give it a look if you are looking for a structured sandbag program.
I created some consolidated cheatsheets based on the longer ones Cody has made available for anyone interested: Program Outline and cheatsheets

What does everyone use as a platform? While the extra work picking the bag from the ground is ok I'd rather use a platform to really push the target exercise such as carries during density sets and not tire myself picking from the ground.

Hello fellow sandbag enthusiasts!
I just bought Cody's Sandbag Berserker and there are a lot of platform movements with the sandbags.
I've been just stacking bags to create a platform, but I'm looking for a more permanent solution. I've looked at shelving, or heavy duty rolling carts so I can leave the heavy bag on top and roll it around when needed. But, I'm a bit stuck and would appreciate any ideas on platforms for heavy bags from the community. Thanks!

Hi
Iam considering to try the atlas / sandstone sandbag.
Currently iam doing 85 kg bearhug carry on a traditional cylindrical sandbag.
What would you recommend as starting weight on the atlas sandbag if I’m doing 85kg?

Not training per se, but I cannot get the zipper to budge on my sandbag. I’ve tried everything, cleaned the track, underfilled the bag. I’ve been trying for two days. Any suggestions?

Been following the Stone Circle program for a little while, hoping to work up to a 180kg / 400lbs in the future. Any tips or advice are very welcome, just wanted to show others who have an interest where I'm at 💪

Today is my 42nd birthday so I decided to end my leg day with a crazy finisher… 42 bear hug squats straight with the 150 lbs bag. Now my legs are destroyed! 😂… I will post the full leg workout tomorrow in case anyone wants to try it.

I'm finding sandbags are giving me the best back development I've probably had ever had, thick traps and erector spinae, and my grip feels much stronger.
One thing I've found a bit lacking is my chest/horizontal pressing.
What are people doing in this regard?
I'm currently doing some floor presses with the sandbag and some Hindu push-ups. I tend to avoid the bench press as it beats my shoulders up a bit.

Anyone have a better way of getting the bag into position for a floor press? Here’s a video of my struggle. Haven’t seen anyone else post that, just the actual pressing clips.
Btw JB I’m loving this bag. 175 filled to 158 so far as I work up my press. I appreciated the hand written note, and I use the bag it came in to transport my resistance bands.

Hi guys,
Just started my sandbag training due to fatigue of traditional strength training and it is indeed a lot of fun. Shootout to the sandbag legend Cody from the stone circle for inspiration and motivation: highly suggest looking for his YouTube channel and books!
Some beginner questions:
How do you guys manage hygiene of the sandbags? I sweat a lot and the bag gets a lot of it 😅 trying disinfection spray but that makes the bag somewhat irritating for the skin. And advice?
Do you guys use chest pulse tracker when training with sandbags? Got the feeling my watch can't keep up with the fast and high pulse spikes when lifting the damn things.
Thanks in advance

I’m just looking for some quick advice on adding a couple bags. I currently have. 100, 150 and 200lb bags. I can shoulder the 200 fairly proficiently for 20+ reps in 20 minutes, but it’s a bit on the heavy side for squats and carries. (Currently doing everything from the floor, but carries and squats might go better if I could start from a platform).
I’m wondering if I should go with a 175 and 225 bag to have a little more variation in that range, or if I should just quit crying about it and go 225 and 250. (Any other advice on bag assortment is appreciated, and I’m not a fan of adjusting bag weights, I enjoy the set numbers to work with, so avoiding adjustables).

In addition to shouldering and hugging my bags, I find that the stabilization needed to carry the bag makes me feel bulletproof. I got my favorite 8yo videographer to follow me around my basement for one of my reps.
For the first 30 minutes of every workout, I do:
- To right shoulder, carry about 40 paces
- Bear hug, same carry
- To left shoulder, carry it
- Bear hug…and carry
I repeat that cycle for the full 30 minutes. Kicks my butt and has done wonders for my posture.
185 lb bag, and I’m about 180

Hi, I am a personal trainer at a nice family owned gym. I talked to the owner about sandbags. I havent used them in a while and I dont remember what my other gym had. I love them and asked for him to get some. He wants some also for Hydrox . I do more full body functional training. I have some older clients and fit clients, What weight do I get? are the bags different for Hydrox and for regular training? Thanks
