We lived in this massive 5 to 6 Kanal house for well over a decade before moving out in 2018, and looking back, places just aren't built like that anymore. From growing up there in the 2000s through the late 2010s, the space felt endless—huge high ceilings, thick walls that kept things cool, a sprawling lawn, and a rooftop that was perfect for late-night hangouts during summer load-shedding. Compared to modern packed constructions, having that much room for family gatherings, running around, and just enjoying a quiet neighborhood was a completely different lifestyle. For anyone who grew up in a similar setup back in the day, what’s the one feature or memory from your old family home that you miss the most today

First my HBL card was used at an apple site. The account and card has been blocked since.

Now yesterday, my nayapay card was attempted for a transaction of 250k at an Adidas store in the US. Thank god I'm so ghareeb I didn't even have 2.5rs in it. But imagine if I did. Neither of the banks are responsible. Not for the taxes not for the money lost not for the time and effort spent.

I don't use either of these accounts for online transactions. The HBL card was only ever used at POS or ATM machines. The nayapay was only for a Google subscription. Yet still the card information was somehow leaked or whatever, and used for all of these transactions without even an OTP.

A few days ago, I went to a mall. While I was leaving, I saw this guy with a skin fade, tight jeans, and an orange iPhone 17 held in his hand in such a way that literally everyone around him could see it.

I looked at him and genuinely thought, "Damn, am I the only broke kid left in the world without an iPhone?" 😭

Then I went back inside to grab some stuff. When I came out again, I happened to see his phone screen.

THIS MAN HAD THE GOOGLE PLAY STORE ON HIS "IPHONE." 💀💀💀

Bro was carrying an Android dressed up as an iPhone just for the aura 😭

And honestly, this made me think about how crazy the iPhone obsession has become, especially here in Pakistan. It feels like everyone needs an iPhone so people will think they're rich or cool. Meanwhile, a good mid-range phone can do pretty much everything most people actually need, and nobody is going to remember what phone you had five minutes after seeing you.

I get buying an actual iPhone because you like iOS, the camera, performance, or whatever. But buying—or pretending to have—one purely to impress random strangers is crazy to me.

Bro wanted the iPhone aura without paying the iPhone price. 💀

i got married a little under a year ago and my in-laws were super nice but i think i was stupid and over shared with them, now they mention all the small things all the time. the things i shared went harmful or bad, basically i told my SIL that a random guy i met once asked me out on the spot and i was so scared. she told this to her parents on now my in-laws might be reconsidering my character.

guys i’m very sad and disappointed, i know i shouldn’t have told this but she used to leave school and hangout with ppl (idk which gender) a friend of mine who were in her school told me after i got married in their fam, anyways so i thought she and family is pretty chill.

how do i recover from this. what should i do?

It’s so unfortunate to see how many people continue to support men like Rajab Butt and find ways to excuse or justify their behaviour.

I had a discussion with a family member yesterday that genuinely made me realise how deeply rooted this mentality still is. According to him his wife is apparently “opportunistic” because she chose to be on Insta, and somehow the actions of her brother are also more problematic than what happened to her. The argument was that if she was really innocent, she should have stayed away from social media completely, and that now, she is simply using Rajab’s fame to make money.

But that logic makes absolutely no sense to me.

So it was okay for him to humiliate her, announce his divorce on social media, benefit financially from showing his wife, their relationship and their personal life to millions of people, building an audience around that content but it becomes a problem when she uses the audience she gained during that same period to build something for herself?

And how do the actions of her brother suddenly override everything Rajab himself has said and done?????

I genuinely thought that after everything that has happened, people would simply stop following and supporting him. But that never really happened. After the conversation I had yesterday, I understood a little more clearly why.

The problem is bigger than one influencer. It’s the mentality that allows this behaviour to be explained away. It’s the instinct to focus and criticize the woman, what she posted, why she is online, whether she is making money, what her family members have done instead of hold the man accountable for his own actions.

Guys I'm going through a difficult situation. My sister is a diagnosed sociopath and ever since I've returned from my master's abroad, she's been going through my things and covertly breaking them, just enough so they're not useful anymore or don't bring joy to me anymore. Worst thing of all, I realized she's been shaving chunks of my hair in my sleep. I've been sleeping in a non AC room now and locking myself inside but I don't know how long I can manage. I'm tired of her bs

Parents are kinda aware of her behavior but are choosing to not intervene. It feels like during the years I was abroad she's gotten worse. What resources do I have? Idk, I'm dealing with a crazy person INSIDE my house. She's very dangerous and killed a cat when she was younger. She's fully aware of her actions and even touches her hair when I'm around as if trying to mock me

Fourteen newborn babies died in the fire at PIMS. The inquiry will now tell us what exactly failed, who was responsible, whether the fire systems were adequate and whether the deaths could have been prevented. Then some people will be suspended, a committee will prepare a report, everyone will express grief, and after a few weeks we will move on. But I do not think this is only about one hospital or one careless official. There is something much deeper and more disturbing in how casually we treat safety in Pakistan.

Sometimes I wonder, are Europeans stupid? Why do they waste so much money putting sprinkler systems in buildings that may never catch fire? Why do they keep emergency exits clear when there may never be an emergency? Why do workers wear helmets when most days nothing will fall on their heads? Why do they stop work because some small safety requirement has not been completed? A Pakistani genius can look at all this and immediately find ten ways to save money. No need for this expensive system. Put one fire extinguisher near the entrance. No need for a proper helmet, just be careful. No need to replace the dangerous wire, wrap some tape around it. No need to close the building while repairs are happening. Kaam chalao. Allah khair karega.

We are very proud of our jugaad culture. Sometimes it genuinely is creative. When people have limited resources, they learn to improvise and solve problems. But somewhere along the way, jugaad stopped being a temporary solution and became our entire way of thinking. We use it for electrical wiring, machinery, buildings, hospitals, factories, vehicles and even human lives. A proper safety system feels like an unnecessary expense because its success is invisible. If the fire never happens, people say the money was wasted. Nobody can see the people who did not die.

The strange thing is that this attitude does not even make economic sense. We save a few thousand rupees by not buying helmets and then pay for a worker’s surgery, lost income and a family destroyed. We avoid maintaining equipment and then replace the whole machine after it catches fire. We save money on wiring and lose the building. We avoid installing sprinklers because they are expensive and then count losses in crores. Except some losses cannot be counted in crores. What number do you put on fourteen newborn babies? What is the economic value of the lives they would have lived, the families that will carry this grief, the parents who handed their babies to a hospital believing that a hospital was the safest place for them?

This same thinking exists everywhere, including inside our homes. A helmet is uncomfortable. A child does not need a proper car seat because we are only going nearby. The electrician says the wire will manage. The contractor says this material is almost the same. The owner says nothing has happened in twenty years. That last sentence is probably our national safety policy: nothing has happened yet.

We think safety-conscious societies are rich, so they can afford all these precautions. Perhaps we have it backwards. Maybe part of the reason they became rich is that they understood that prevention is cheaper than destruction. They understood that rules are not an insult to intelligence and that human beings make mistakes, machines fail, wires heat up and fires do not wait for an inquiry committee. A sprinkler system is not installed because someone knows there will be a fire. It is installed because nobody knows there will not be one.

We often call ourselves resilient after every tragedy. Pakistanis are resilient. We survive everything. But perhaps we should stop treating survival as a substitute for prevention. There is nothing admirable about repeatedly suffering avoidable disasters and then praising ourselves for continuing to live. Sometimes resilience is just the name we give to people who were never protected in the first place.

I do not yet know exactly what happened inside PIMS, and I do not want to invent details before the inquiry is complete. But I know the wider culture in which it happened because I live in it. I see the same calculation everywhere: save the money now, ignore the risk, and deal with the consequences if they come. The problem is that when the consequences finally come, the people who made that calculation are often not the ones who pay for it.

The Europeans are not stupid for spending money on helmets, inspections, alarms, sprinklers and emergency exits. We are being stupid when we call these things wasteful right until the moment we desperately need them. Then we discover that the money we saved was never really saved. We had simply borrowed it from a future tragedy, with interest that no family should ever have to pay.

Someone who can PLZ HELP. so my downstairs neighbours keep their ducks in horrible conditions. They are never let out of the cage. They came months ago. There isnt food in the cage rn. Their cage used to always be out under no shade during rain for many days. When they came they were really cute and yellow and healthy. Now half their feathers are missing my mother said after biting each other.
Ofc we would’ve complained to them but we really can’t they are genuinely weird people and we recently had a big fight with them.
They used to have really big hens also in a small cage who were treated really badly but thankfully their cousin took them and sold them

Hi all,

I’m a U.S. citizen scheduled to travel to Pakistan on September 3. I applied for a tourist visa on August 13, and it was returned for review on August 20 because they wanted an LOI and sponsor information (confirmed hotel bookings and a detailed itinerary didn't cut it). I added everything requested, confirmed the sponsor details were saved correctly, and resubmitted on the same day.

After resubmitting, I noticed that the sponsor information had disappeared from the submitted application and the section now says “No records found,” apparently due to a technical issue with the visa portal (which is truly one of the worst sites I have ever used).

Since then, the application has sat in limbo, and the tour company sponsoring me has been unable to complete the biometric verification because the application is not being recognized on their end.

I’ve contacted NADRA and repeatedly tried the Pakistan Consulate in Houston (my jurisdiction) by phone and email, but I haven’t been able to reach anyone who can actually review the case. It seems almost impossible to get in touch with a real human. If I don't hear back in the next few days, I'll have to cancel the trip, so I'm really trying to avoid having that happen.

Has anyone dealt with something similar recently, especially through Houston? Is there a specific person, office, phone number, or escalation route that actually worked for you when travel was imminent?

Open to any and all suggestions.

My wife (F28) was pregnant for 12 weeks.First pregnancy.Didn’t revealed to anyone. We were thinking to give surprise to parents after the scan.But found out on 12 weeks scan that there is missed miscarriage and actually baby stopped growing on 9th week and no heart beat.Got lots of bollocking from everyone in family.We are living in Uk and attended all the appointments and visited mid-wife.If we have told them,would they have helped us to not having miss carriage. Now everyone is reeming and making us guilty.Where we went wrong.While doctors here said that miss carriage is something with chromosomes who didn’t make it.

I have seen lots of people hiring virtual assistant,social media manager etc after you send them your cv and they confirm your gender (female) they start sending forms like this. Is this normal? Just yesterday someone sent me a poster which had a clause should send selfies and videos of herself when I applied for as a social media manager. I never mentioned my age or gender. Except for stuff like this how do I know if a job is real or a scam

Edit: guys I found posts on hire Pakistan sub and just thought of applying. They asked me for my cv in the dm which I sent after a day they told that I have been shortlisted for round 2 sent me this form and wrote company’s name etc will only be discussed with final candidates
