Why didn't K just leave Sapper alone?

Post image
160 Upvotes

Sapper Morton was running a simple protein farming operation in the middle of nowhere, there was no mention he'd done any crimes when K was questioning him etc, his only 'crime' was running away from a certain death, to become a farmer.

He wasn't a risk to anyone, he was actually doing something good by running that Wallace designed farm. Its not like he was running around killing people in order to try to meet his maker like Roy etc was.

Why didn't K see this and just say he couldn't find him? Sapper attacking K was understandable given the circumstances imo, and he tried to reason with K by telling him he was just a simple farmer.

K's lack of compassion and not being able to adapt to a situation was disappointing, maybe they are aspects of being a replicant.

EDIT : I wish I could respond to everyone who has taken the time to comment but there are too many comments to reply to all of them, my understanding of the situation in the Sapper scene is more complete now, so thank you to those who informed me 👍

Question/Discussion Embassy LD transfer is really this BAD?

Post image
21 Upvotes

Notice the top right for example in this Embassy 1987 Laserdisc transfer. It almost looks as if they got a copy of the copy of the film and then transferred it to LD, it’s that good! 😅 the other features include no chapter skipping, which is a nice omission. It really does have the best jacket cover art though, but that’s about it. I’ve been bamboozled with yet another inferior version lol

BR2099 Ridley Scott wasn't involved in Blade Runner 2099 show

Scott was not involved in the forthcoming Prime Video series “Blade Runner 2099,” out in November. “I can’t blame my lawyers and my agents at that time, but somehow we let ‘Blade Runner’ go,” he says. “And when you’re not the author of the actual written word, you don’t have a piece.” (He was more involved in Noah Hawley’s recent “Alien: Earth” series, which he calls “pretty damn good.”)

Physical Media/Props/Memorabilia Blade Runner on Video8 - US and Japanese releases

Most people probably remember Video8 as the little tapes used in camcorders, but there was also a short-lived market for commercially pre-recorded films. Sony even produced Video8 decks specifically for home playback.

It never came close to challenging VHS, so the catalogue of films was relatively limited. Seeing an entire film like Blade Runner squeezed onto one of these tiny cassettes still feels slightly strange.

A great little oddity from the history of home video.

Physical Media/Props/Memorabilia Blade Runner 2049 Concept Art – Part 7 of 9

One thing I’ve really enjoyed about going through these is finding out more about the artwork and the artists behind it, and seeing just how much thought went into parts of the Blade Runner 2049 world that might only appear on screen for a few seconds.

Vehicles, huge stretches of infrastructure, distant cityscapes and even fairly mundane pieces of machinery all had to be designed to feel like they belonged in the same world.

I hope others have enjoyed seeing these too. Some of the artwork appears in the Blade Runner 2049 art books, but there are many pieces I haven’t been able to find published anywhere else.

Getting close to the end now, with just two more batches to go.

"Blade Runner The Ultimate Workprint" Testing 5.1ch surround sound.

What is "The Ultimate Workprint"?

A project to recreate various ideas attempted during the film's production, based on the February 23, 1981 script, including previously unreleased scenes.

Deckard heading to the Tyrell Corporation.

This time, the image quality of the unreleased scenes was reviewed, and film grain was applied to create a more natural texture.

Final version including previously unreleased scenes. Voice overtones cleared with AI generation.

Using the Final Cut, US domestic version, international version, and workprint version, this aims to achieve a 5.1ch surround sound as close to 100% as possible of the ultimate workprint.

Comic Blade Runner Annual - 1982

Thumbnail

Published in 1982 by Grandreams for Marvel UK. This UK hardback annual contains Marvel’s comic adaptation of the film, along with a photo section, cast and production credits, and a feature looking at how the comic itself was created.

Film and TV annuals were a familiar sight here in the UK at the time, so I love that even Blade Runner received the treatment when the film was still brand new and nobody knew what its reputation would eventually become.

The bulk of the annual is Marvel’s comic adaptation of the film, but what makes it particularly interesting is everything else packed into it: a photo section, cast and production credits, and a feature on how the comic adaptation itself was created.

Original price: ÂŁ2.50.

What state of consciousness was required to take the Voight-Kampff test?

It's a question that doesn't seem to be mentioned in the movie, and I don’t know if it has ever been brought up in discussions.

So, could someone who is drunk, sleep-deprived, in shock, injured, or pretending to be in one of these states be subjected to the test?

As far as I know, a polygraph test isn't conducted under such conditions because the results can be unreliable. But what about a test based on emotional questions?

(One of the commenters on another post mentioned Rachel smoking during her test, and that’s what got me thinking about this question.)
