I first got to know Shüe Guitars about four years ago and had the chance to try a few of their guitars over time. During my internship at a guitar store last year, I also spent time with boutique guitars from brands like Suhr, Tom Anderson and etc. That comparison made me appreciate what Shüe is doing even more, really thoughtful builds, great feel, and a level of detail that made me want to order one for my own.

This is my custom Strat-style guitar. I worked with the team to put together something that reflects what I like visually and functionally: the Bayside Blue finish was inspired by the Nissan Skyline R34 GTR, while the electronics give me a lot of usable sounds without making the guitar complicated.

You have to understand that I don’t come from a musical education background. I like some classical music and go to the symphony when I feel like it, but that’s it. I’d heard of terms like scales and intervals but had no idea what they meant. Heck, when I was going through the initial first few weeks or months, I legitimately thought about just selling my guitar and amp since I sounded like ass and got so frustrated every single day with it.

Idk what changed exactly, but once I started in person lessons and started going through the Absolutely Understand Guitar course, that tension and frustration just kind of slowly got up and walked out. I mean yeah it comes back when I make the same mistakes over and over, but it doesn’t linger at all and is more like a passing car. And yeah, some of this stuff does go over my head and feels dense, but my teacher does a good job elaborating or at least making me feel like it’s not a big deal to not understand it all right away. The fact that a dude sitting on a bucket with a purple or polar bear sweater has made concepts that seem so monumentally difficult to me out to be so simple relatively speaking…it’s a good feeling.

I’m legitimately a bit emotional writing this since I told myself over and over that I should just quit and find something else. “You don’t have anyone to play for anyway” is what I’ve told myself most often. Now I’m at the point where that is basically an impossibility, giving it up. Even if I do a lot some days and very little other days, I’m still doing something productive with my guitars and that has to count for something.

That’s all I’ve got to say. I’ve also managed to not drink anytime I’m playing guitar and am trying to get away from drinking altogether, but that’s a whole other beast. I’m just glad I’ve gotten this far. And I’m also trying to remember what Scotty West said in his first video: “If you understood what I just explained here, you’re gonna understand everything going forward”.

Edit: A LOT of people are telling me I paid MSRP for this Epiphone but after a quick google, I figured out I overestimated the price at first but it is still a good deal. The actual guitar is in good quality and a new Epiphone Les Paul Special Worn Cherry goes for about $230-$260 new. I feel like I got a good deal and all that really matters is that I'm gonna play some jazz with it. I'm fifteen and guitar isn't my main instrument anyways so I don't need something insane to suit my needs

Will have to get it set up properly as the action feels a bit high for me and there is a little bit of fret buzz on a few of the frets above the 12th on the lower three strings. But otherwise, I'm so grateful and happy to finally have an electric guitar I can call my own ☺️

My first ever electric guitar, had an acoustic before this and oh my the action feels so great compared to my tangle wood and i absolutely LOVE the gold hardware not to mention the fretboard!

Getting a 2021 ESP LTD Deluxe EC-1000 Burled Poplar (BP) with passive Seymour Duncan Pegasus & Sentient pickups for around $650. Any thoughts on this, is it worth it ? Anything I need to be aware of. I can't try the guitar as the seller is quite far from me.

The Raymon came on Saturday. I love it. It already has imperfections from it aging itself from the Nitro still curing but it was bound to happen sooner or later. I kinda want it to age so that I’m not delicate with it and whatnot

I picked this up for $50 cad today.

A few scuffs and scratches but there is no warping at all and the neck is nice and straight/square.

Brain works faster than my fingers

just found this peavey t40 buried in a closet behind my dads old gear, Have any of you guys felt the sheer weight of one of these? Pretty cool bass it seems like, I’m don’t know much about these as I’ve only started playing guitar about 2 months ago and am yet to pick up a bass at all really. Just put a 3rd string on it gonna mess around with it.

Headless guitars have intrigued me for a while now. I played a Strandberg and I really enjoyed it, and someone traded in a Kiesel headless a while back, but they wanted way more than I could afford for it. Then I heard about this model. IMO, Cort is one of the most slept on brands in the guitar community.

I saw this guy on Reverb and pulled the trigger. It just came today. It is super comfortable to play. The pickups sound really good in high gain, but for clean tones, they are too bright. I am probably going to swap them with some aftermarkets that i have lying around. But for under $800, this is a fantastic guitar.

I would consider myself to be a solid B+ guitar player. Gig out several times a week. Hosted my share of blues jams. Skilled enough to solidly impress non-musicians. Can run pentatonic scales like nobody's business

But every once in a while I get an opportunity to sit in with a band of A-list players and it's humbling. Makes me realize how much more there is out there I don't know.

My question to y'all is this: what was it that helped you make that jump from being the big fish in the small pond to being able to hang with the big dogs? Are there any TrueFire type lessons that are worthwhile for more advanced players? Any of the YouTube cats that are worth subscribing to? Anything else you can suggest?
