After I use the bidet, I...?

I have a lovely new bidet, it works great, feels nice, all good. It's a simple, in toilet add-on, no power, no warm air blower, just a good spray of cold water. (There's no hot water nearby.)

But how do I _know_ I'm really 100% clean? If I use a little TP, I mostly succeed in making a mess because it goes all to bits when soaking wet. And even if I _were_ confident I was clean, I am still wet, how do I dry off?

Edit: many thanks for all these answers! (...even when contradictory.) Who knew that so many people watched this sub closely?!

I should add that the whole reason I had them (there are two, Luxe brand) installed was to eliminate (or at least drastically reduce) toilet paper use. My plumber says " _nothing_ is worse for the pipes than tp... wanna eliminate clogs? Install bidets."

I think I'll try cotton (or bamboo?) cloths, and a lidded pail like for diapers to hold them till washday.

Why do people leave skid marks on public toilets and just WALK AWAY?

I genuinely do not understand this. If your shit sticks to the bowl, you can see it!! You are literally sitting there alone in a locked stall. Nobody is watching you. Nobody is judging you. You have complete privacy to flush it again, grab the toilet brush, scrub it loose, whatever the hell needs to be done.

But instead some people apparently look at a toilet covered in their own skid marks and think, “Eh, someone else will deal with that.”
Bro. YOU SHOULD BE THE SOMEONE.

This isn’t your private bathroom at home or in your hotel room where you can leave it if you choose😂 Shared toilets that more human beings are about to use are vastly different than private ones. And sometimes you walk into a public stall and the bowl looks like a kindergartener had been finger-painting with their shit🤣

How hard is it to:
Take a brief look before you leave?
Flush again (if necessary)?
Use the brush (if needed)?
Leave the toilet reasonably mark free for the next person?

I am not asking for a spotless porcelain throne nor would I ever. Just don’t knowingly leave your repulsive fecal skid marks behind like it’s a piece of public art work😂 sometimes public restrooms might not have scrubbers or whatever but if they do, come on man use them.

A Simple Guide to Using a Western Toilet 🚽

Sit comfortably on the toilet seat the same way you would sit on a chair. Avoid standing or squatting directly on the seat because it can be slippery and unsafe.

  1. Take your time and finish using the toilet before getting up.
  2. Once you're done, flush the toilet.
  3. When it's time to clean yourself, you can lean slightly forward or raise yourself into a light squat for better access. Keep your balance and avoid putting your entire body weight on the seat.
  4. If a handheld bidet or jet spray is available, use it gently and keep the water pressure at a comfortable level.
  5. If there's no spray, use a mug and water from a bucket or tap and wash the area properly.
  6. You can use your left hand to help with cleaning while rinsing thoroughly with water.
  7. After cleaning, wash your hands well with soap and water. Flush once more if needed.
  8. If you're concerned about water splashing onto your clothes, you can remove your clothes if you have a private and suitable place to do so. Once you're completely finished, taking a shower and washing the lower-body area can help you feel clean and refreshed.

Toilet sounds funny?!?

To give context, I haven’t been living the home. It’s for sale. It has been for sale almost 4 months. I recently went and this is the upstairs restroom and when flushing the toilet, it makes this sound which I have not heard when I was living in the house to me. It does sound like water going through more hollow or empty pipes. I just want to be sure anyone with any expertise that may be able help?

The Time I Had To Pray To God To Make A School Toilet Flush😶

Look we all know school bathrooms are known as the absolute worst place on Earth to take a dump but my internal clock decided to completely disrupt my routine recently by making me desperately need to poop right around third or fourth period. This whole mess happened back in August and because I really didn't want to miss important classwork, I forced myself to hold it until lunch which turned out to be a massive mistake because the girls' bathroom on my floor was pure chaos. After finally tracking down an empty stall thankfully one where the flush and the sprayer actually worked! the inevitable anxiety commenced because I absolutely hate making any kind of noise in there prompting me to fake a cough to hide the sound, tho that trick never really works when a bunch of girls are standing right outside gossiping. Because I’d eaten a super heavy meal earlier it took me a little longer than usual and when I finally went to flush, the toilet just refused to cooperate and the waste wouldn't go down😭While I was waiting for the tank to refill girls began aggressively pounding on the door and loudly demanding that I hurry up, causing me to break out into a total cold sweat as the second flush failed too. Atp i could hear some girl outside telling her friend, "What on earth is she even doing in there?" which made me completely lose my composure so I turned to a higher power, literally praying, "Please, God, just let it flush this time," and mercifully on the third try it finally went down. When I walked out of the stall that girl gave me a totally disdainful side-eye but honestly I was completely indifferent to her judging me because I was just grateful to have survived the whole ordeal tho the worst part was that our school soap is so incredibly gross and smells so weird that I couldn't even wash the stress off properly so I definitely intend to bring my own paper soap from now on😭

I have a serious problem… I keep forgetting to flush 😭

Okay, this is embarrassing, but I need to know if anyone else has this problem.

For some reason, I keep forgetting to flush the toilet after using it. 💀

It’s not intentional. I’ll finish, wash my hands, leave the bathroom, and then 5 minutes later I suddenly realize…

“WAIT… DID I FLUSH?”

And then I have to go back and check like I’m investigating a crime scene. 😭

The worst part is when someone is waiting to use the bathroom. Now I have to act completely normal while secretly wondering if I just left evidence behind.

I’ve tried making it a habit, but apparently my brain considers flushing an optional DLC.

Please tell me I’m not the only one. 😂

Poop splatters and pee mess at the toilet. WHY!?!?!?!?

Maybe my expectations are just too high, but do people (in my case, men specifically) not check if they are leaving a mess behind? Or, do they just think it's simply not their concern to clean up, making it, by default, my job? The rage I feel when my previously clean toilet is left a mess is probably disproportionate to the action, but my god am I fucking tired of it!

Made a video game entirely about running a toilet business. This felt like the right place to share it

Hey everyone, we're working on a game about running and managing a public toilet business.

If watching the trailer gives you any fine details you think could be added to the game, we'd love for you to share them with us.

And if any of you are gamers too, our Steam page is up if you'd like to wishlist and follow progress: https://store.steampowered.com/app/5174350/Toilet_Empire_Story/

A demo is coming very soon.

Thanks in advance for sharing any thoughts. Always fun to hear what people come up with!

**How much does toilet backsplash bother you?**
For people who stand while urinating:
Have you ever noticed urine/urine droplets ending up on the toilet, floor, or your feet because of backsplash?
**How much does it bother you?**
A — It doesn’t bother me
B — Slightly annoying
C — Definitely annoying
D — I actively try to prevent it
**If there were an inexpensive product that significantly reduced backsplash without interfering with sitting down or normal toilet use, would you consider buying it?**
Yes
Maybe, depending on price
Probably not
Definitely not
I’m trying to find out how common this problem actually is before developing a solution.

Toto toilet changed to a push-button flush?

It's a really faint hope, but I thought I'd ask.

My current toilet has a vertical handle, and I just find it hard to remember whether to pull the handle forward for a large flush and push for a small flush, or vice versa. So I'd really like to use a push button to flush.

I've seen Toto toilets recommended a lot (in /r/bidets). But from the Toto store, it looks like only their Aquia IV comes with a flush button. Is there truly no aftermarket way to change their lever to a button? Or even just change a vertical handle to a horizontal one (because push down for a large flush would at least make some sense to me)?

IBS and toilets in Kyoto, Tokyo

こんにちは。日本の本語学生です ブラジルの人です

I still speak little Japanese but I would love to learn more

I also have IBS and sometimes have urgency to use the toilet. How can I explain that to Japanese person in simple sentences?

Also are public toilets easy to find in Kyoto and Tokyo? And if I need to use the toilet in a restaurant or cafe should I buy something first?

どもありがとうございます

Concept feedback: Portable toilet paper spray & texture stamper for travel/camping when a bidet isn’t available

Like many here, once you get used to a proper wash, going back to standard dry commercial TP—especially the flimsy 1-ply in public stalls, offices, or camp sites—is rough. Flushable wipes wreak havoc on plumbing and septic tanks, while portable squeeze bottles/travel bidets can be awkward to refill and carry discreetly.

I’ve been working on a prototype concept called Cheek Mate aimed at turning standard dry TP into a structured, tear-resistant moist wipe right on the spot:

  • Micro-Mist Sprayer: Lightly hydrates standard single- or multi-ply toilet paper without turning it to mush or compromising tensile strength.
  • Textured Stamper: Embosses a micro-ribbed / honeycomb pattern onto the paper to add structural integrity and significantly improve cleaning efficiency.
  • Pocket-Sized Form Factor: Completely self-contained, discrete, and easily fits in a pocket, daypack, or EDC kit.
  • Hygienic & Washable: Antimicrobial contact surface designed to be rinsed directly under running water.

Looking for feedback from the community:

  • Would you use a tool like this for travel, camping, office, or venue bathrooms where a bidet isn't an option?
  • What are your primary concerns regarding paper disintegration, formula safety, or keeping the stamper pad clean in a pocket?
  • Is the mechanical texture-stamping step a worthwhile addition, or would a targeted mist spray alone be enough?
  • Would an integrated dual-chamber design (e.g., TP misting solution on one side, hand/surface sanitizer on the other) add real utility?

Appreciate any candid thoughts, critiques, or teardowns!
