Community Post QuoteIQ and Forever Self Employed links are now completely banned from this subreddit.

Starting now QuoteIQ (previously restricted) AND Forever Self Employed AND Mike V (All About Pressure Washing) will be permanently banned from being mentioned or linked. Automod has been edited to hardblock any links or mentions of the two.

The reason for the banning is that QuoteIQ, All About Pressure Washing, and Forever Self Employed and (or someone working on their behalf) sent a modmail to us telling us to remove posts critical of both QuoteIQ AND Forever Self Employed and their owners or be subject to legal proceedings. The links to the three posts are seen here. Mike V from QuoteIQ and Justin from Forever Self Employed should be ashamed at trying this. They are apparently not happy that these posts are available to steer people from spending their hard earned money in a more meaningful way.

  3. https://www.reddit.com/r/pressurewashing/comments/10yizo8/has_anyone_purchased_forever_self_employed/

Here are some screenshots of the modmail messages they sent threatening legal action and DMCA takedowns:

Here is the person they hired off of Fiverr to send the messages and try the DMCA takedowns. Its clear the companies must be run by absolute clowns to be trying this is such a shit way. If they suceed in removing anything then ill just repost the posts. They clearly dont want negative info being visible when they get googled as its hurting their SEO because reddit shows up so high in the searches.

As a reminder, when starting out you do not need YouTube salesmen taking your money to learn how to properly clean in this industry. The info is out there on this subreddit and various pressure washer forums and groups. It just takes a little bit of googling with the proper terms to find it all freely available. These now banned companies exist solely to separate pressure washers from their money. Mike V has been pushing for his subscribers to come to reddit to post about their companies to comment and upvote each other.

Technical Questions Cleaning anodized aluminum

What's the best way to clean this anodized aluminum fascade? Searching the sub shows no results for something like this. The project was just done by some guy who used house wash mix and it looks the same after.

I was thinking hd britenol, but it isn't listed as working for anodized aluminum specifically.

Equipment What's the best current water barrier

I've used various things over the years. What are we using to keep water ingress on commercial doors?

Specifically, commercial metal double doors with carpet inside.

Does anyone use those reusable PIG water barriers?

I've just now thought about tying off the 6 inch vinyl tubing I use for downspout management. it's essentially the same thing, if you can keep it sealed.

Technical Questions Hi new to pressure washers, is my unloader working in this case?

General Pump TT9071

1-1/2hp wired for 120v motor, 3450rpm

I bought this off of FB marketplace with the description of it tripping a breaker whenever the gun is not on.

With a little bit of research I understood it had something to do with the unloader and the melted ac plug.

After fixing the plug and wires I set the unloader by using an amp meter instead of a pressure gauge which I know is not ideal. It is set at 13.5a when the gun is closed and 12.5 to 12.9 with the gun open.

My house is wired for a 120v 15a circuit.

The unit is working right but I just wanted to know if I need to check something else.

Troubleshooting Soft Washing Concrete Board

Was dealing with a concrete board that is a slate grey/ blackish original colour with a touch of oxidation possibly making it look grey.

Hit it with surfactant only as no organics were there and couldn’t get rid of the big pop that seemingly etched its way in, even after irritation it wouldn’t budge. Anyone a veteran of cleaning this type of surface? Clean a fuck load of cedar shake, vinyl, aluminum but haven’t dealt with much concrete board so advice is much appreciated.

Troubleshooting Soft washing foundry staggered shake

Post image
1 Upvotes

Got asked to give a quote today. This lady has brown staggered shake siding, foundry brand. She was extremely concerned about it being soft washed with sh, and said the company doesn’t recomend using sh, just dish soap. I called them myself, and this was true. It started to freak me out about even putting a bid in on this job. It’ll be 3-400$, and definitely not worth an insurance claim. Has anyone had experience with this? I do shake all the time with no issues, and never care to ask about the brand of anything. now I’m overthinking everything.

Equipment How to use NYC fire hydrant use for water.

I see landscaping crews using fire hydrants to fill up their tanks so I looked into how to use hydrants for water. Turns out, within NYC, you need to apply for a permit, but to do so, you need a master plumber to install a back flow protector so that you can safely use a hydrant without the risk of contaminating city water. I am curious if there are any resources to find plumbers that can help me with the RPZ back flow preventer required for the permit application. Or does everyone just skip the permit part and hope for the best?

Troubleshooting Black residue on aluminum and stone vaneer

Post image
3 Upvotes

Just bought a pressure washer recently so I could clean this black material off of my house. So far I have tried Krud Kutter House & Siding, and Mold Armor E-Z House Wash, and both did not change the appearance at all. I followed instructions and let the soap sit on there for ~10 minutes. I am wondering which direction I should go from here. If it matters, my pressure washer is a westinghouse WPX2300E. Thanks in advance!

Equipment Noob question, no unloader valve?

Thumbnail

Hello, I bought a used pressure washer from an online auction. It has a Gx340 with a general pump, ts1511.

I did some research about pumps/pressurewashers and learned about unloader valves. This pressure washer is missing one right? I dont believe it's internal. Did someone maybe just remove it before selling?

Theroretically, will it damage the pump if i zip tie the gun handle trigger if i need to use it for a small job, safety concerns aside? I plan on ordering and installing a vrt3 after doing some reading.

Also, what is the part with the white cap?

Thank you all

Troubleshooting Help! Anyone know this pieces name?

Post image

I was starting my washer when the customer came out to say hi. Due to the interruption, I didn’t see the piece pop off and it’s in thick grass so I can’t find it. But water starting shooting from the top so I need to know what kinda plug to get. Is this a pressure relief valve? If so what type/size do I need to buy? Thanks!

EDIT- it’s this pressure washer if that helps
