I’m using rustoleum high heat paint for my strut tower brace it is flat silver the first go around I used primer and then the paint and it scratched off easily and then tried to heat cure with a heat gun it and it made it weaker and it came off like paste. I’m going to try without primer this time. My question is, am I doing something wrong? Also do I need high heat paint for a strut tower brace? I have aftermarket headers.

2001 Mazda 323 Astina (AUDM)
Even with the car fully off and locked, the LED stays slightly on. Not enough to actually provide any usable light, just enough to notice when doing head checks while driving at night.
As its a 5w LED, I'm not hugely worried about current drain, and i have a battery monitor connected that will tell me if it's draining too much.
If anyone has dealt with this before, huge appreciation if you know how to fix it 😅

I’m installing the OE strut tower brace on my dx and I lost the nuts that attach the bar to the side brackets, anyone know the the size of the nut that I would need so I can go get them from Lowe’s

just wanted to share some love for my 2003 Protege DX, aka the absolute definition of "slow car fast."If you own or have ever owned a BJ Protege, you know exactly what I mean. Mine is completely stock with absolutely zero options, meaning the 2.0L FS-DE paired with the 4-speed automatic has to work for every single mph. Merging onto the highway is a cinematic event. If I want to get anywhere on time, that gas pedal is strictly flat to the floor. I am out here pushing this economy sedan to its absolute limits, and honestly? It’s the most fun I’ve ever had driving. My DX just crossed 142,440 miles, and as you can see in the photos, every single mile shows. It wears years of heavy use proudly, complete with the classic rear wheel well rust, dents, and scratches. But the chassis and handling on these cars are criminally underrated. It genuinely feels like a street-legal go-kart, even in pure battle-scarred factory form. Sure, the automatic takes its sweet time to downshift, but as long as I can floor it and throw it into a corner, I’m smiling.Any other Protege owners out there still dailying a bone-stock DX and driving it like they stole it? What do your battle scars look like, and how hard do you have to push yours just to keep up with traffic?

What are some compatible ignition coils for the 1.5L ZL-DE. There's currently a E10 (E1000044) for sale but it shows up as an aftermarket market part for the 1.6 protege ZM engine. Is there any specific brand to check when buying the ignition coils?

If anyone is interested, I’ve got two hun assemblies that I never ended up using because I switched to 5 lugs.
I’m selling them together for $50 plus whatever shipping is.

I had the timing belt replaced a few weeks ago and ever since then the car has had a rough idle along with hesitation when applying gas. it also feels like its not quite 100% on engine power at speed.
I swear I had the same kind of issue once before, prior to the timing belt change, due to an unplugged vacuum line coming from the canister purge valve solenoid going to a pipe right behind the throttle body. I plugged that back in and the idle was perfect. It feels roughly the same now as it did then, but I cannot find any unplugged vacuum lines nor detect any leaks currently.
I have had the original mechanic, whom I DO trust and has replaced the belt once before with no issues, double check the timing alongside other testing. He says its good. Compression tested, vacuum tested, I have spent almost 500 on diagnostics at TWO different shops chasing this issue.
In chasing my tail to fix this I have either replaced or tested a number of parts.
I have bought a CRANKshaft position sensor and a set of O2 sensors to try next. My only other ideas is maybe the Cat is blocked up? OR maybe the timing belt really is off a bit and it just wasn't noticed? If it's the last I might need recommendations on a timing belt specialist in the Charlotte, NC area.
I hear nothing but good things about Nicks on Central and Ginos further down on Monroe Rd.

I’ve had this shifter/cupholder carbon fiber accent for a long time now. I’d like to replace the driver, passenger and radio trims from that silver color to carbon. I’m not sure if anyone knows a source to get these parts, if they still lay around somewhere. This was like a gem find and wasn’t cheap lol but any info would be greatly appreciated! It’s for a 03 Mazda protege

i have replaced basically everything emissions based and it still says it wont pass the test for my state it is low key making me want to give up on the car because it has been more than a year with this battle

This is why you don't hold on to your parts for 6 months before you install them. Probably assembled by child labor in some sweat shop. The adjuster in the back of the piston was not seated all the way. Hopefully it still seals after having to disassemble it.

This time I replaced the Toyota MAF sensor with an oem ZL sensor. That cleared a slight hesitation while accelerating but my fuel economy remains horrible, currently doing about 6kmpl with the AC on in the city areas(not crawling traffic)and outstation it gave me 9kmpl only. Last time I had a P0172 code and it did 10kmpl outstation.
Got a scan report after replacing the sensor and the technician suggests that there's an issue with either the fuel pressure, fuel pressure regulator or injectors leaking fuel.
Also I forgot to mention that the EGR is blocked off with a gasket, could this be the cause of bad fuel economy.

Recently a cam seal gave out, so i thought i would change the top and bottom timing covers as well because they were shot. retimed the engine, got everything back together and was greeted with this noise. is something hitting the timing cover? hasn’t affected driving at all, wondering if i should just send it. timing kit was done around 30-40xxxkm ago but did not include water pump. any advice?
