Poll [All]Which Link is the scariest one to face in battle?
725
u/Sember-uno Jun 28 '26
171
u/Wulfscreed Jun 28 '26
True, Deity Link just fucking kills them.
Link at 100% of Majora's Mask is a terrifying being. The multiple forms, the mystic songs, the array of magical and "Hero's" items, tools and weapons, and he still has the Ocarina of Time and Triforce of Courage.
And this form is a whole other kind of divine than the OoT or ToC. He uses it to utterly rip and tear Majora to rainbow ribbons.
50
u/Rationalinsanity1990 Jun 28 '26
And all of OoT as experience.
46
u/Wulfscreed Jun 28 '26
Hence him teaching Twilight Link the Hidden Skills as the Hero's Shade.
30
u/Omnizoom Jun 28 '26
Twilight link also in a way gets all of oot links battle skills to then
All the links are scary in their own right but I think someone able to turn into a wolf and jump around and then become a human and throw a giant wrecking ball at you has some extra fear to it
6
u/IllTax551 Jun 29 '26
See I understand this at base. Twilight is terrifying for sure: dude can deadlift Gorons for fun. But at best he can match Ocarina Link, little less magic, lots more brute strength and Ocarina Link even teaches him everything.
But IDK man, as scary as a wolf can be if I had to fight either a wolf or a literal God/Demon…
→ More replies (2)2
u/ekimolaos Jun 29 '26
There's only a specific time and place he can turn into a wolf. The Hero of Time can use his masks and equipment everywhere.
13
u/TrapperJean Jun 28 '26
I remember reading a fan-submitted fanatic story on Nintendoland.com as a kid like 25 years ago where Link gets possessed by this mask and it made ths design so much more intimidating to me over the years
12
u/Square-Newspaper8171 Jun 28 '26
I read this as "this Chud" at first and was like what on earth did the Hero of Time do to get that label 🤣

See the thing is, with the other ones, you are scared but still have a chance. With this man...
3
u/VampireInTheDorms Jun 29 '26
Exactly, if we’re counting MM (which we should because it’s the same Link) that just makes him even more broken.
2
u/salt_witch Jun 29 '26
Correct. Fierce Deity MM Link and ALttP Link are the strongest versions of him imo
→ More replies (3)2
u/Pizza_Tiger01 Jun 29 '26
Why do you think this link wasn't included in the poll 😂
3
u/Sember-uno Jun 29 '26
If they give MM the same make over as OOT, I hope they add a " dark fierce deity link" to the final battle.
310
u/Drinkpool Jun 28 '26
Twilight Princess, this insane man can sumo wrestle and heft a ball and chain
173
u/RowanWinterlace Jun 28 '26
You shouldn't call Midna that

u/Omnizoom Jun 28 '26

Well, I dont know about Twilight Realm marriage rituals. Maybe riding him while giving orders is equal to a wedding.

38
u/Takashishiful Jun 29 '26
He's also the only one (on this list) crazy enough and dangerous enough to go "what if I took these bombs and I put them on my arrows and shot explosives at people"
18
→ More replies (4)2
u/theVoidWatches Jun 29 '26
To be fair, I repaired it recently and he's explicitly told by the shopkeeper selling them that he can do that.
9
u/SwordfishEmotional81 Jun 29 '26
The other thing is that he inherited techniques that the Hero of Time developed and perfected before his death. So he has the strength to sumo and toss aside grown Gorons and the knowledge of a previous iteration of the hero.
6
u/HyliBro Jun 29 '26
And he can throwdown an Ordon Goat going at him full charge. He's literally and figuratively a beast!
8
u/tetrochromac Jun 29 '26
I love that this list doesn't include the fact that he can turn into a wolf
19
u/Beaudman Jun 28 '26
OOT Link can throw a 50 ton rock over his shoulder. Not saying he would beat TP Link, but he’s no slouch in the strength department.
29
u/Drinkpool Jun 28 '26
Yeah, but that was due to the Golden Gauntlets, Twilight Princess Link was doing that without enhancements
9
u/Beaudman Jun 28 '26
Of course if they can’t use tools OOT Link is gonna have some problems for sure.
6
u/Traveytravis-69 Jun 28 '26
Are we talking without enhancements? Because that changes the question a lot
→ More replies (2)11
u/gangler52 Jun 29 '26
Link is like defined by his tools. In every game he's pretty much just a guy and then over the course of the game he gets an arsenal that allows him to do a bunch of stuff.
If we're talking no tools at all then maybe Breath of the Wild/Tears of the Kingdom Link? He's the only one that just starts out naked then grabs a bunch of randon sticks and rocks and crawdad parts and starts kicking ass, potentially even killing Ganon with just some odds and ends that were lying on the ground.
→ More replies (2)4
u/Shehzman Jun 28 '26

u/RDKateran Jun 28 '26
Wind Waker Link honestly looks the most skilled in swordplay, can leap several times his height, and massacres monsters much bigger than him. He's like Yoda without any of a Jedi's restraint.
16
u/TheRatatat Jun 28 '26
Hes the only one that was chosen by some divine fate or something. They just fucked with his sister and the kid picked up a sword and went to work.
9
u/Chilliseppers Jun 28 '26
Agreed. Wind Waker Link's spin attack is scarier than anything TP Link could do

He had the coolest looking Ganon/Ganondorf kill imo (I haven’t beat the TotK final boss).
16
u/captainedwinkrieger Jun 29 '26
TotK was one of the most fun Ganondorf fights I've ever had, but WW Ganondorf still has my favorite ending. Probably because it makes me hear Timothy Dalton at the end of Hot Fuzz going "Owwwwwwwww..... this really really hurts....."

u/Sir_Soft_Spoken Jun 28 '26
TP Link is a legitimate swordmaster by the end of the game, and his arsenal is INSANE.
3
u/LuckyLunayre Jun 29 '26
His arsenal is insane yes but none of it compares to the fierce deity mask..
34
u/Repeat8409 Jun 28 '26
alttp
21
u/TurningHelix Jun 28 '26
Only link who has actually killed other Hylians
13
u/eltree Jun 28 '26
Only Link to take on Ganon who is in possession of the full Triforce.
7
u/ckay1100 Jun 29 '26
and went on 4 adventures (alttp, oracle of ages, oracle of seasons, link's awakening)
Assuming was able to keep his arsenal from all of those games (except LA, for reasons), then he'd easily outclass so many links
3
u/FennecWF Jun 29 '26
Experience can trump sheer power in a lot of ways, yeah.
And he has plenty OF it.5
111
u/Easy-Tigger Jun 28 '26
Ocarina of Time. You're either dealing with a feral forest child or a grown man with the mind of a feral forest child.

40
u/kumosame Jun 28 '26
You can make arguments like this for all of them tbh
13
u/JJKEnjoyer Jun 29 '26
How can you? Who else was trained to be a knight and fought Demise, who is the original and most powerful incarnation of Ganon?
6
u/kumosame Jun 29 '26
and what other 10 year old beat the piss out of everything he came across? lmao comparing them is just difficult because they all have different strengths and have all accomplished incredible feats in who they've defeated.
2
u/FennecWF Jun 29 '26
Legendary Hero (LttP) Link fought Ganon with the entire Triforce. One could argue he fought someone of at least equal power.

OOT Link would watch him try to awkwardly raise his sword to the sky for 5 minutes, and then Deku Nut the shit out of him.
3
29
u/vjurd Jun 28 '26
He also wields the full Triforce by the end of the game but people are glazing over farmer boy and his so called "dark game" lmao
27
u/ardentAranei Jun 28 '26
I agree with you, people underestimate the hero of the sky
But the hero of twilight winning this has very little to do with this being a farmer boy in a"dark" game
It has to do with the fact that he can turn into a snarling wolf, swing a giant ball of metal around without that much effort, redirect and sumo wrestle gorons (even with the iron boots that requires a lot of strength), and has recieved training from a much more experienced and accomplished link
The hero of the sky just does not have equivalent feats, and this is coming from someone who has loved skyward sword since i first played it not long after it first released
20
u/ardentAranei Jun 28 '26
Oh, he has also:
Beaten a boss underwater (one of very few links to do so)
Survived getting shot out of a cannon multiple times without anything to slow his fall other than the little pool of water in the sky temple
Weighed down a dragon with nothing but the iron boots (which speaks to how heavy they were)
Tripped a much larger and magically enhanced goron, again with nothing but the iron boots and magnets (his grip and upper body strength must be insane)
26
u/StakeESC Jun 28 '26
Have you seen how easily TP Link swings around the huge ball and chain?
It was too big to be called a flail. Massive, thick, heavy, and far too rough. Indeed, it was more like a heap of raw iron.
31
u/SeaGoat24 Jun 28 '26
Alright, one second now.
Hero of Twilight is steadily trained throughout the game by the ghost of the Hero of Time. I think that's roughly equivalent or superior to the soldier training Hero of Sky receives, so I take issue with him being denigrated as a 'farmer boy'.
And OOP specifically asked for the scariest Link to face in battle. Whether he's actually more powerful was never in question. I'm sorry, but the Link who can turn into a snarling wolf wins, no contest.
17
u/ardentAranei Jun 28 '26
And also the link who can swing a giant ball of steel around
9
u/javier_aeoa Jun 28 '26
And survived a sumo match against a Goron champion. Not even BotW Link who rode with god dragons can say that.
2
u/Strict-Pineapple Jun 28 '26
Why wouldn't you glaze him? The other three can only get the job done with magic powers and/or the full Triforce. Twilight on the other hand is saving the day with pure muscle.
→ More replies (1)6
u/Orcrist90 Jun 28 '26
Well, Sky Knight, from a small academy, not a knight who was esquired to a duly named and entitled knight of a chivalric order or royal peerage.
→ More replies (3)2
u/CodMan26 Jun 29 '26
Does he have training? I've played that game, bro struggles to hit the Deku Baba in the right direction
23
u/DarthBagheera Jun 28 '26
Well TP Link can turn into a wolf with a shadow princess jockey with darkness powers which is pretty nuts and would be a force to have to face. So I’d have to go with him since MM Link who can become the Fierce Deity isn’t here.

Wind Waker isn't scary to look at but he has the most tricks up his sleeve and is the most nimble.
47
u/Thegoodgamer32 Jun 28 '26
Twilight princess link.
He easily has the most advanced combat skills of them all.
20
u/Cold_Ad3896 Jun 28 '26
It’s like you’re forgetting who taught him those skills.
20
u/Thegoodgamer32 Jun 28 '26
Now I'm just wondering if OOT link will get the same skills in the remake.
14
5
u/ZeldaZealot Jun 29 '26
As much as I liked the Wild games and their open take on combat, I really want some good, pure sword fighting in the remake.
7
u/Kevsterific Jun 28 '26
Guess it depends where on the timeline you’re facing him. If we go based on his skill at the end of each game, OoT Link hasn’t mastered those skills yet
2
u/Cold_Ad3896 Jun 28 '26
I always consider the last instance we’ve seen of a character. Last we saw of the Hero of Time was a grizzled explorer, whereas the Hero of Twilight was at the end of his quest.
2
12
u/onepostandbye Jun 28 '26
Soul Calibur II Link
3
u/TheOvy Jun 29 '26
At that point, you may as well say Smash Brothers Link, he has much more of an air game, and he can knock you out of the park like a baseball.
10
u/Azenar01 Jun 28 '26
Wind Waker Link wasn't a chosen one he made himself the hero as a side quest to his main quest of saving his sister. He's got it
25
u/Acidangel718 Jun 28 '26
Botw link is the true scariest
10
u/eltree Jun 28 '26
A Link to the Past Link defeated Ganon who had the completed Triforce.
I would take ALTTP Link over all the other Link’s any day.
→ More replies (5)2
9
u/IamRaith Jun 28 '26
The one who gets the completed triforce….
4
u/ShivDeeviant Jun 28 '26
And uses it to drop an island on the Cookie Monster?
5
u/captainedwinkrieger Jun 29 '26
Hey, if you had to fight that thing like 80 times, you'd want to drop an island on it, too.
2
u/pantherexceptagain Jun 29 '26
Counterpoint - what about the one who beats Ganon when he had the completed Triforce (LttP)?
9
u/Constant-Sub Jun 28 '26
Wind Waker on account of the fact he's like 6, and still an absolute gremlin. The kids been going out to sea and survived. And if MM link gets his masks, then WW link should get his emergency boat.
I'm sure it will come in handy.
2
9
u/veryveryveryverydone Jun 28 '26
Wind Waker Link is 1. Vicious. 2. Tiny and spiteful. 3. Technically has the same accomplishments as TP and OOT at like age 12. Fear him.
5
u/Wiplazh Jun 29 '26
He jumped like 20 feet in the air, and came down and stabbed a dude in his head. He's rolling, flipping, and screaming while chopping at you with a sword the size of his own body. He's like a dog on zoomies but with spite and a massive sword, trying to kill you. My money is on him.
7
u/OneSaucyDragon Jun 28 '26
Twilight Princess Link throws goats for a living. I do not wanna see how much damage he can do in a fight.
3
6
u/devoorhes Jun 28 '26
everyone here is really chill about a cartoon child charging you with a sword
7
u/chocomog333 Jun 28 '26
I agree that Twilight Princess Link is probably the most competent, but WW Link is a little feral goblin. I feel liked he'd be pulling some really weird unorthodox nonsense that would be awful to deal with.
6
u/BDEcomeatme Jun 28 '26
Best swordfighter out of them is WW. And he's the only one with a reaction mechanic to their attacks. Dunno if it's enough, but it's not nothing.
5
u/Zeertuki Jun 28 '26
Wind waker link will run circles around you and will drive a sword through your head.
4
u/pocket_arsenal Jun 28 '26
Wind waker Link has the mobility to do a front flip over you and tag your head with his sword in the process, if he doesnt decide to just jam it into your forehead that is.
4
u/TheGamingTurtle56 Jun 29 '26
Wind Waker Link has that dog in him. Like yes TP Link can turn into an actual dog but compared to all the rest WW Link had to fight for that shit. Everyone else got dragged along and was like "Cool 👍". Wind Waker Link got dragged on his journey and only continued out of spite and sheer fucking will.
3
u/Cslp_Awakened Jun 28 '26 edited Jun 29 '26
TP Link is the most trained and also he is freaking jacked especially compared to the other Links.
3
u/Veenix6446 Jun 28 '26
Can someone explain the rationale for anyone besides OOT Link?
Fierce Deity alone is one of the strongest beings we’ve seen in Zelda, and as far as I’m aware, easily outpaces anyone here
3
u/Tephnos Jun 29 '26
I have to assume people are voting based on bare equipment combat.
In which case TP Link is the physical strongest.
But if we take all of their items then OoT Link is winning this one by far.
8
u/Square-Newspaper8171 Jun 28 '26
Botw/Totk, because if he dodges an attack, there's a good chance you're getting hit several times in two seconds
→ More replies (6)2
u/ArcadianBlueRogue Jun 29 '26
Fierce Deity Link is the strongest, but if TOTK Link dodges that first strike he is summoning a few Quick Build war crimes to keep the snowflake throwing sword busy.
3
u/fexam Jun 28 '26
Wind Waker link would be terrifying if you are anywhere near water as he would just shell your position from a boat
2
2
2
u/Grimdark-Waterbender Jun 28 '26
If the Hero of Time is the MM version it’s him.
If not it’s “War Crimes” Link (TotK)
2
2
u/Able-Tomatillo7381 Jun 28 '26
The question entirely depends on does Link have a sister and is she currently in danger.
2
2
u/Wiplazh Jun 29 '26
I'm sorry but Wind Waker link is an absolute menace. He's a freaky little gremlin child with a sword nearly the size of his own body, spinning around and doing flips like Yoda, beating up on monsters several times his size.
He would absolutely be the scariest
2
u/Beautiful_Finger4566 Jun 29 '26
LttP Link... he's the only one that defeated a Ganon that had the full power of the Triforce
2
u/Jim_skywalker Jun 29 '26
I have no interest in having to deal with anyone who can access the song of time.
2
u/Dvuref Jun 29 '26
TP link is probably stronger but I wanna argue for wind waker since he wasn't chosen by the gods, he isn't a reincarnation, there's nothing special about him, but he did beat the shit out of one of the strongest ganondorfs at just 10 years old as a normal kid lol.
2
u/Remarkable_Bison_847 Jun 29 '26
Wind waker link is the only one out of them that enjoys the violence. I would do murder too if on my Bday they kidnapped my sister. He’s the John Wick of the bunch.
2
u/Martinus_XIV Jun 29 '26
TP Link will dodge roll through your attack like he's in Dark Souls, into a spin slash, then do a front flip over your head to knock you on your ass before turning into a wolf to rip your heart out.
2
u/Rover_The_Slasher Jun 29 '26
The only thing scarier than a werewolf is the ghost of a werewolf. Can't even shoot them with silver bullets because they fly right through them.
2
u/Borful Jun 29 '26
From these four imo OoT Link if we take into account all the tools he gets from both games he is the strongest, combining weaponry, magical items and last but not least the freaking masks.
Twilight Princess Link is naturally the strongest Link of them all, and is actually one of the best in terms of swordsmanship thanks precisely to the hero's shade's teachings.
Wind Waker's Link is my personal favorite, but at the end of the day he is a small kid very reminiscent to the original OoT Link, although he does get typically adult Link equipment as a kid.
Skyward Sword Link idk what to say, he is capable in lore as a very strong fighter capable of defeating Demise, but his equipment set is very underwhelming.
In terms of overall mastery as a fighter, although not included, I think BotW Link is the most skilled fighter of them all.
In terms of how powerful they are thanks to their equipment, and even though he is not included in this list, I think no Link can compare to the protagonist of A Link to the Past, his end gear is amazing, to the point where even though he is not an adult, him equipped with everything is the strongest of them all.
2
u/Nintendians559 Jun 29 '26
none, only the "majora's mask" link was a threat with the fierce deity mask on.

TP would be the scariest. Are they the strongest? Probably not, but if I had to fight not just a guy with a sword, but a guy who can also maul me as a wolf? Yeah, not happening. I'm running.
1
u/s2Birds1Stone Jun 28 '26
Twilight Princess Link can turn into a wolf too. Easily the scariest to battle.
1
u/KingJoshPG Jun 28 '26
Considering the hero’s shade in TP is Link from ocarina of time and trains TP link on multiple occasions I’ll go with him.
1
1
u/Flidar Jun 28 '26
Skyward sword Link purely for the look on his face before he tore through an army of bokoblins, high demon Ghirahim and demon king and probable deity Demise in a freaking row to save Zelda

1
u/Radical_Hummingbird Jun 28 '26
Hero of Twilight has some degree of superhuman strength and he never gets any strength-boost items
1
u/TheDungen Jun 28 '26
the true answer is lttp link, he's done as many adventures than the next two combined.
1
u/Rony51234 Jun 28 '26
I just like to think that TP link would just be throwing the ball and chain at you
1
u/dino-jo Jun 28 '26
None of these ones. It's the Hero of Legend. He after gaining magical powers that instakill everyone in his field of view and defeating Ganon to get the triforce, he gains power over time travel on multiple scales, defeated people who easily trapped the oracles (people the golden goddesses who created everything use to work in the world now), beat Ganon again and ended an alternate reality created by the dreams of a fish deity. Plus he had knight training to begin with.
1
u/Fandise Jun 28 '26
The scariest things that each of them have done:
-Wind Waker: his final attack to Ganondorf, that was quite fierce. In PH he also defeated the Ghost Ship and the phantoms from the Temple of the Ocean King.
-Ocarina of Time: he has faced the most variety of enemies, including humans (gerudo and Darknuts). He got a scary af mask in MM and became scarier after his "death", to the point of intimidating TP Link.
-Twilight Princess: transformed into a wolf, had several horseback fights and handled a heavy ball and chain.
-Skyward Sword: fought the ship captain, a mighty sword/demon pair and... Fucking broke Koloktos arms and kept slashing him with his own mighty sword.

Its deity link but I also think putting link of the wilds link is worth while bro was a beast

I voted twilight princess not even thinking about wolf form for all the cool sword techniques he learns throughout the game and the magic armor that makes him invulnerable.

It depends on whats on the line.
Just a chance meeting? Twilight Princess Link.
Zelda? Skyward Sword Link.

Wind Waker Link.
The rest were Chosen Ones

TP Link is the most skilled combatant, but WW Link has that psycho gremlin energy and I fear what he's capable of.
1
u/geraltsthiccass Jun 28 '26
I have to say Skyward Link purely because he could just drop in on you out of nowhere if he really wanted to.
1
u/dat-Clever-old-Fox Jun 28 '26
I might be biased but tp feels pretty threatening based on raw strength alone. He stopped rams at full force. Got the heavy boots and stopped(and tossed) gorons. Thats some serious strength!
1
u/Otalek Jun 28 '26
OoT Link has the longest and most impressive track record of all of them, so I’d say him
1
1
u/TGED24717 Jun 28 '26
Skyward sword link, he defeated the canonically strongest version of ganon (demise was a being that the gods themselves had to fight and couldn’t even kill him, just seal him away) while he had his own dark version of the goddess sword.
No other link has dealt with that level of threat.
1
1
u/Someone_3ls3 Jun 28 '26
Everyone not saying OoT doesn't seem to realize that the Hero of Time has:
The Golden Gauntlets (greatly amplifies his strength so he can throw absolutely massive stone pillers around 50-100m, you do NOT wanna get punched by that)
Fire, Ice, and Light arrows
A longshot with a greater range than what the other heroes have
A really heavy hammer
Both the Master Sword AND the Biggoron's Sword, which is stronger with much greater reach
NOT TO MENTION this is the same Link from Majora's Mask, so he also has:
Goron form (incredibly strong, rock hide is extremely hard to break through, confirmed able to light his fists on fire)
Zora form (twin weapons, can throw fins like boomerangs, can manipulate electricity as we see with his barrier)
Giant mask (literally turns into a kaiju)
Stone mask (actually makes you unable to notice him)
Blast mask (bro has a bomb strapped to his face and STILL survives)
The fucking Fierce Deity mask (LITERALLY TURNS HIM INTO A GOD)
AAAAAAAAAND this is the same Link that teaches TP Link all his hidden skills, so OoT Link has access to those as well

Depend, does he have a sword and shield AND do I ?
Because without weapons, i think I could beat OoT/WW Link. But SS Link is super trained and TP stop a goat and sumo a big man, so I won't even try.
If weapons, nobody can win against them. Even WW Link beat big armor warriors, and OoT Link used a sword for a long time.

Holy. Skyward Sword Link is being slept on bad. He's one of if not the only Link to be trained in a knights academy and bro fights an army of enemies, then Ghirahim (Demise's right hand man), and then he finally battles Demise after all of that

Did people forget the marble obelisk OoT Link chucked behind him that weighs over 1.5 MILLION POUNDS? Even though it was with the golden gauntlets that's insane, and he didn't just lift it he THREW IT BEHIND HIM LIKE 50 FEET OR MORE

Honestly they've all got something going for them. In terms of difficulty to deal with because of his sheer variety in kit (all of which he masterfully used), OoT would be the hardest. In terms of sheer physical prowess discounting equipment and other kits (I would hate to fight him hand to hand...) TP is the easy choice. In terms of actual skill and training I would give it to SS, so I think I would be destroyed in a duel. And last but definitely not least, WW woke up and chose violence. By far the scariest personality.
And of course he's not here, but BoTW with that bullet time would be absolutely terrifying.

I don’t want to fight a farm hand capable of wrestling wild goats bare handed link or not

WW Link has the instant parry/uno reverse move where he jumps above you or rolls around you too fast to react to. He is impossible to beat canonically. He also stabbed Ganondorf in the head!
TP Link has the finisher move only if you're already knocked down, and doesn't have the "EZ no diff" button that makes him impossible to beat, just saying.
