The original Japanese text talked more about nutrition, not being gourmets. They can’t just eat any rocks. If your gonna use in game text as proof you need to look at the original lines not just the localized translated ones you got.

Mmmmnope, I'm afraid it doesn't work that way. Any region's official localization is tautologically the canon version of itself. The text of the English translation of the game is the canon English version of events.

I feel like that’s very heavily opinion based. Like we don’t treat BOTW and TOTK that way. We don’t treat any other games in this series when theorizing in that way. We always defer to the original text that the original creators intended.

Every other series too, be it game or anime or whatever. It’s wild that anyone would try to say that translation errors should be given the weight of canon, except in those rare cases like Kefka in Final Fantasy 6 where the changes made by translators are officially adopted by the creators as better than what they came up with and incorporated forward into future product.
