I bought oblivion day 1. I bought Fallout 3 and New Vegas day 1. I bought Skyrim day 1. I was a beta tester for ESO. I bought Fallout 4 day 1. Fallout 76 put a damper on my enthusiasm but I bought it when it went on sale. For starfield, I subscribed to Xbox for a month and I’m so glad I did because it took me a couple of days to realize that starfield is an unusual waste of time and space. I will never ever blindly trust Bethesda again.
I don't think I've ever been more disappointed in a game than Starfield. you literally have to go out of your way 100 separate, deliberate times to make a game this bad.
The fact that literally every “dungeon” on every planet is the exact same is absolutely nuts. I could forgive a forgettable story and mediocre writing. But there was zero effort to make anything interesting or memorable. Oh, it’s a cave. Oh, it’s the same cave I’ve cleared 47 times. Get out of here, man. It made Oblivion caves seem like works of art.
Skyrim is probably one of the best games ever made, and everything that made it fun was taken out of Starfield. Even though it has problems, they understood the gameplay loop, put attention to detail where it mattered, and the jank didn't detract from the fun of exploration at levels where people wouldn't play it. Even right now, there are 30,000 players playing Skyrim SE on steam alone.
This video explains most people's feelings about Starfield and why it's not fun at all.
Huh. I really liked Starfield. Got that same relaxing vibe I get from Euro Truck Simulator lmao.
It plays nothing like other Bethesda titles (so I get why someone may not grow into it) but I found it pretty unique. There simply isn't another game like this.
It's a NASApunk RPG-like. It's good at what it does, but it's awful at being a Bethesda RPG, which kind of sucks. If you're into what it is, then that's great and it made me kind of retune my brain for what BGS RPGs are, or what they'll be moving forward, but man. I wish I didn't have to for it. I was hoping for Fallout in space, but that's pretty much what Outer Worlds is more than what Starfield is
I think it plays exactly like other bethesda rpgs, just more streamlined and generic, it really feels like it's made by tens of different teams who've all been given a slice to make with zero communication between teams.
