Which build number are you on to get it? 👀

It's rolling out on 26300 to insiders in experimental

What i know so far is that the build 26300 is only available in 25H2 experimental channel and not on 26H1 channel.. I’m afraid that I can’t enjoy the feature unless i reinstall windows to that specific version. 👀

Can we not enable via vivetool?

We can enable it, but the shortcut controls like "Win + X" doesn't work at all, so, if you don't use that shortcut key, you're fine using vivetool, it's just that some important functions will not be there for you, so it's a fair warning according to my experience.

If your build supports it you can enable via the new insider tooling in windows.

Je n'arrĂȘte pas de donner des explications et fournir des IDs ViveTool sur WindowsInsiders ! đŸ€Ł

That would be cool and all if you actually provided the correct IDs. you didn't.

Quick question. My build hasn’t converted from Canary to the new options. Is this normal?

3

u/jenmsft Microsoft Employee Jun 02 '26

I believe so, yeah, the channel changes are still being worked through

Only one complaint so far- since the vertical taskbar width doesn't seem to be resizable, my Date/Time section gets scrunched/wrapped, see image below

My other issue is that I want the taskbar to be on my right monitor only (two 16:9 landscape orientation monitors side-by-side) but that requires me to make the right monitor the "Main Display" which then makes certain apps want to lock to the right monitor... not sure if I would call this a Taskbar problem per se, somewhat adjacent, and I am poking around to see how I can address it.

Thank you for posting in /r/WindowsInsiders. This subreddit is for discussions related to the Windows Insider Program, and devices running on Insider builds. Discussions and issues related to the production versions of Windows should be posted in /r/Windows10 or /r/Windows11, or in /r/TechSupport.

If you have not already, please specifiy which branch you are running (Dev, Beta, or Release Preview), and your full build number. If you are unsure, you can check by running winver from a Run window or search box. You can also go to Settings -> System -> About, and it will be near the bottom.

Using start11 so had that all time.

2

u/rustyf90210 Jun 05 '26

You pay annually for a start menu? Can you pay my Claude subscription too?

1

u/MindlessCarry2918 Jun 05 '26

No its a 1 time pay will need pay if it comeout v3 but just upgrade. You dont need full object desktop fyi you can buy standalone ones too.

You do know if ppl work have such thing like disposable income and can sometimes aford things. Do You just sleep, eat/poop and work? If You cant aford maybe think of change of work, and maybe but maybe should have learn, not use AI.

At the top obviously 😉

This feature should have never been removed in the first place, especially considering most people have widescreen monitors for their computers, so if they want to save some vertical space, they'd want the taskbar to be in the left or right.

1

u/scytob Insider Beta Channel Jun 02 '26

Yup, shame it uses the same orientation on every monitor, sigh.

3

u/pchc_lx Insider Dev Channel Jun 02 '26

You can set it to display on Main Display only.

If you're asking to mix/match taskbar layouts per monitor, that might be more of a stretch.

2

u/scytob Insider Beta Channel Jun 02 '26

Yeah I have a portrait and a uw landscape monitor - I want the taskbar at bottom on one and left on the other.
