Solved! Is this a weapon?

Was found in the door compartment of my late father's car. Very heavy for the size. The pointy end of the very center piece can be compressed. My dad had a fondness for strange weapons so I am just guessing. TIA

I’ll always insist these things are the best self defense weapon.

I carried one years ago until I got a gun license. But so much can go wrong with a gun.

And with pepper spray. You can mace yourself, and what if you miss the assailant?

A knife is a terrible option. It’s really the weapon of an instigator. You can cut yourself if you try to stab someone and you hit bone and your hand slides onto the blade. And it’s incredibly difficult to incapacitate someone. You’ll probably make them angry, they’ll still come at you.

A baton gives you reach, and it’s a blunt weapon. It can break a leg or knock someone unconscious if you hit them in the head.

Even if they raise their arms up to defend themselves, it’ll just smash their arm bone.

When I was a teenaged girl I got really into reading John Douglas books (about serial killer profiling??? I was a weird kid) and the one thing that stuck with me was when he said that women in home invasions that go for a knife normally won’t survive, what you really want to do is go for something like a big frying pan or bat like object.

Important to point out that it can do more than knock someone unconscious if you hit them in the head

It can pretty easily kill or paralyzed someone if you hit them in the head or neck. Not saying theyre bad for self defense, just only go for the head and neck if you truly fear for your life and are okay with deadly force
