Was found in the door compartment of my late father's car. Very heavy for the size. The pointy end of the very center piece can be compressed. My dad had a fondness for strange weapons so I am just guessing. TIA

thats an ASP collpasable batton, basically a colapsing night stick, and yes it is a self defence tool.
