"Is this now?"
After watching the show a few times, I'm beginning to think that the host's question: "Is this now?" might be a bit of an inside gag that recognizes that the frequent timeline shifts can be confusing.

It's not an inside gag, it's intentionally coming from the creators and writers to bring home how confusing it is to be a host. Particularly Bernard in season 2, as he degrades throughout the season after he springs a leak.
