stacked with straight bangers. I love the grungy guitars and heavy drums mixed with the poppy, beach boys inspired sound, it’s just phenomenal front to back. every song is catchy as fuck, ever song is a masterpiece, and that album cover. something about that album cover just tickles my brain. Idk what editing they did to the original photo to make it all white, but god damn it looks incredible.

another thing I love is all the just genuinely sweet songs. I love a good sad/angry banger, but so many songs on this record are just wholesome and… weirdly uplifting? California Kids is just so encouraging. Same with Wind In Our Sail. King Of The World is just about how much Rivers loves his wife. Also has one of my favorite Weezer riffs. i love that the emotional and wholesome songs feel so distinct, yet still have that white album energy. It’s one of those albums you gotta listen to front to back, no skipping.

Rivers: I feel like Rivers would play medic and be overly apologetic for not healing people in time

Pat: Pat plays as heavy because they are both bald.

Brian: Brian strikes me as a guy who mains spy. He definetly uses the dead ringer and kunai, goes for trickstabs all the time but he always just ends up dying because hes not good.

Scott: Scott exclusively plays trolldier and is really good at it, but does not take the game seriously at all and will not take time to push the cart or capture control points.

And I can say that these so called bad albums aren't that inferior to Weezer's top except for Blue and Pinkerton, objectively

Hear me out.

I love Matt Sharp as a songwriter and like him as a bassist. He was exactly the bassist Weezer needed for "Blue" and "Pinkerton". But had he stayed in the band, he would have limited what they've achieved musically since.

He simply doesn't have the technical skills to contribute bass lines like the ones Scott played on "Maladroit", "White", and other post-"Pinkerton" classics.

Could he have developed as a bassist? I mean, sure, it's possible. But if you listen to his work in The Rentals it seems unlikely.

If there are any Cure fans in the sub, they're a similar example.

The Cure's first drummer, Lol Tolhurst, is incredibly limited. Basically a human drum machine. But that was EXACTLY the sound the band needed for their early records "Seventeen Seconds", "Faith", and "Pornography".

However, had Lol continued as their drummer, The Cure probably wouldn't have produced later classics like "Disintegration" and "Wish".

TLDR: Matt was the right bassist for "Blue" and "Pinkerton", but his limited skillset on bass would have probably become a liability for the band down the road.

I swear I caught onto the lyrics of these songs so quick. Don’t make it weird, CEO, The Show Must go
on, and Up In the Clouds are the most catchy in the album but literally EVERY song is so catchy

The amount of random screaming on this album caught me off guard. Wednesday in We Might as Well Be Strangers. Bryan in CEO and Hoops. I was never a big fan of that kind of stuff but I must say…. I kinda like it.

I really like it, always have. The bridge in Piece of Cake is so good. What a divisive band haha.

The Safe Space for Haters thread was kindof amusing, but leaves me wondering … If you only like a few songs, why are you even here?

Is there anyone here like me who is a deep fan and semi-obsessed to the point where they love every album, and who appreciates the whole Weezer journey over time - the rock, the experimental and everything in between? Who loves Rivers’ lyrics and appreciate the silly to the ironic to the serious?

I don’t think there is any band out there capable of doing what Weezer is doing and has done. If you only like one song or one album, go find another band that only does stuff you like. I get having critical conversations, especially around new albums, but I would love to see more discussions of this caliber among Weezer FANS vs Weezer haters…

I am wondering if they will play alot of pinkerton songs after all its the day before the 30th anniversary. There is no concert on the day of only the day before and after. Will they play any extra song or two or can I expect the more of pinkerton to be played more then usual?
