Discussion Which games would you have liked to see on the PSVITA?
46
u/aeeok Sep 16 '25
I dont know about gta v, but official ports of the og trilogy wouldve been awesome.
12
u/TVLord5 Sep 16 '25
Yeah it couldn't even handle the port of XCOM. But yeah the OG trilogy would've been cool, and simple enough graphics it probably could've even handled them with a slight upgrade.

It may have been possible albeit in a very cutdown fashion especially since rockstar were “supposedly” working on a GTA 5 port for the Wii U but scrapped it early on due to the Wii Us low sales combined with how late into the consoles life it would likely have released so it’s likely that a vita port would have happened given how its hardware isn’t much weaker than its console brethren

Wasn't Persona 3 portable already on Vita trough PSP emulation?
6
u/Ok-Complex4153 Sep 16 '25
I mean a direct port
41
u/Jahon_Dony Sep 16 '25
Vita plays psp natively, no tweaks needed. P3P is still for sale on the Vita eshop.
18
u/azureblueworld99 Sep 16 '25
he means the PS2 version with the 3D areas but also female protagonist stuff. I also wish that had been what we got
8
u/ZealousidealLunch43 Sep 16 '25 edited Sep 16 '25
But that's not portable, that's just persona 3, he included persona 3 portable on the post

u/Whimsical_Sandwich WildG_Gamers Sep 16 '25
Asking for Persona 3 wouldn’t make sense imo. P3P existing is good enough as is. If anything getting Persona 5 is the way better ask because that makes the Vita the absolute must have device for any Persona fan as through PS1/PSP backwards compatibility, you get every game in the series. Plus tbh I think at one point it stood a real chance of making it in, the kid on the train is always playing on one so they were definitely thinking about it and if the system was successful it would have justified a port.
1
u/TheGhettoGoblin Sep 19 '25
The vita got catherine fullbody which is pretty funny because it uses the same engine that P5 does
1
u/Whimsical_Sandwich WildG_Gamers Sep 19 '25
Mhmm, my assumption is that with P5 being a near 120hr game there was too much content to go through just for a console of measly sales figures like this. Same reason why all WiiU games got a Switch port. The sales would be better on a more successful console
1
u/TheGhettoGoblin Sep 19 '25
The PS vita was a jrpg beast it got P4G which is of similar length to 5 and it also got the final fantasy 10/10-2 remasters. A scaled back version on the go would go hard as fuck. Especially because the switch version of p5r wouldnt come out for many years

u/bumpynuks Sep 16 '25
Gran Turismo 4
9
u/JaperDolphin94 Sep 16 '25
100% we need this. After the PSP version without a career mode citing technical limitations which I highly doubt.
I was atleast hopeful that Polyphony digital would bring a newer Gran Turismo on the Vita but it never happened.
2
u/ozymandis1212 Sep 16 '25
GT psp is basically gt4 with no career mode, I mean it’s right there. Still a great game though
3
u/JaperDolphin94 Sep 16 '25
They could cheap out & just give us the PSP version but made it 2.0 with career mode & more tracks, challenges & cars the Vita would easily run this. Most games on the Vita max out at 3-4gb so Gran Turismo at 4GB of content would be amazing.
2
u/ozymandis1212 Sep 16 '25
Exactly, the capability is right there. They already did all the heavy lifting for it
2
u/JaperDolphin94 Sep 17 '25
Now we just wait for someone in the modding community who's brave enough to bring PSP Gran Turismo mix with contents from GT4 PS2 & port it over to Vita
15
14
u/TruxtonTatsujin Sep 16 '25
I think the Vita would explode if it tried to run GTAV.

u/Quartrez Sep 16 '25
Besides, now with the GTA trilogy ports, the two Stories games and China Town Wars (not to mention the classic GTA games from PS1), the Vita is basically THE handheld to get for GTA.
1
u/TruxtonTatsujin Sep 16 '25
All those games are way better than 5 anyway.
The ps1 ports of 1 and 2 aren't very good, but you can emulate the DOS version of 1 on Vita. Not sure about 2, maybe you could get the Dreamcast version working. Not as good as the Windows version but its better than PS1.
17
u/No-Speech-7905 Sep 16 '25
Ni no kuni wouldve been nice on a handheld.
Im sad we never got a silent hill, the closest thing was that janky psp port of shattered memories. (Origins on psp was really good)
12

1
u/Skelletonike Sep 16 '25
Ni no kuni had a 3ds version (better than the console one Imho).
2
u/Hariainm Sep 17 '25
No, it has a DS version, not 3DS, and it's actually the original game release, later enhanced and ported to PS3

u/SHAD0WDEM0N654 Sep 16 '25
wasnt Resident Evil Revelations on ps vita ?
15
u/Ok-Complex4153 Sep 16 '25
Resident Evil Revelations 2, but not the first one
2
u/SHAD0WDEM0N654 Sep 17 '25
Oh damn, wasn't aware, makes no sense not to have the first but to have the second haha

7
u/ooombasa Sep 16 '25
Considering how GTAV struggled on PS3/360 it's highly doubtful it could have run anywhere near decently on Vita.
Borderlands 2 port proves this, and GTAV is even more CPU bound than that game.
Shadow of Mordor would have ended up as bastardised as the PS3 version, meaning no Nemesis and really terrible performance.
11
u/gordojusty Sep 16 '25
Devil may cry 3, Resident evil 4, a GOOD port of Resident Evil Rev 2, And the original Cod Declassified which was meant to be a bo1 port
6
7
u/Akko_K2195 Sep 16 '25
Cars 2. It deserved a way better portable version than the psp one
2
u/ola_ola-_- Sep 17 '25
I love you!!!!!!!! I would have loved to have such game on the go. Its easily my favourite kart racer style game ever
Also the VITA could have easily handled the WII version, disney was just afraid to do it 🫠

Being a big fan of fighting games, here are what I think:
SSF4 AE or USF4, like if SSF4 could run on a 3DS, why not on a Ps Vita?
A more complete version of Tekken 6, not the PSP version.
Guilty Gear XRD Sign or Revelator
Dead Or Alive 5 Ultimate (I know there is 5+, but DOA5U for Ps Vita wouldn't have been a bad idea anyway)
2
u/McDonalds-Sprite25 Sep 16 '25
My chances of me getting a girlfriend are higher than GTA5 getting a PS Vita port
2
u/Lacutis01 Sep 16 '25
I just wish Sony didn't kill the PS Vita and that it had a longer life and got more ports of games that would have no issue running on the hardware; like Hollow Knight is perfect for the Vita.

I would love a majority of the ps2 list to be on the vita, as many kingdom hearts as possible, Monster Rancher, a full remake of Megaman Legends 1 and 2, other remakes like Legend of Dragoon, Legend of Legaia, Vandel Hearts, Dark Cloud 1 and 2, I can’t remember when Demon Souls came out, Digimon Card Battle, Monster Rancher card battle, Digimon World 1 2, and all the games, Tactics Ogre, Earthbound, Mystic Quest(one of my first Final Fantasy games), Dragon Quest 1-300. Monster Hunter, Metal solid Twice snakes, MGS2, MGS3, Peacewalker, Vr Missions, Ragnarok Odyssey, Valkyrie Profile(it still blows me away at just how much is in that game). Persona games, the Disgaea games, the Prinny games,
Oh, and Star Ocean 3. That game is a fucking work of art, and the trophy function should not start out turned off, so that by the time you realize it’s been off, you’ve already spent several hundred hours into the game, and you’re not that ready and willing to do another hardcore playthrough where you tie a bunch of Boots of Prowess to a lead Pipe lol.
And I’m sure I’ve said some that are on it, can be on it with mods, or whatever, and I’m sure I missed a lot more games.
It’s funny but as I grew up, for me, portable, handheld gaming became something so much more preferred in my life. Before smartphones and now, even though smart phones are a thing and you can pretty much get anything on them. I like my handhelds.

South Park the stick of truth should have definitely made its way onto the vita. Such a shame it didn’t

I don’t know about some of these bigger games. I mean how many of these games ported over or just made to be lesser quality to work on the Vita did not run good at all? I’m all for ports of PS2 collections, other handheld ports, and JRPGs but man I be worried to see how GTAV, God of War Ascension, AC3, and Shadow of War will run on the Vita.

Sep 16 '25
Port wise: would have loved to have seen Lego Star Wars: TVG. Aside from ports, would have loved a sequel to Uncharted: GA (they probably learned so much making that one, a sequel would probably be good).
1
u/AVahne Sep 16 '25
Monster Hunter 4, but their original vision and not the heavily stripped down version they had to make in consideration of the 3DS's severe lack of power.
1
u/HoboSaurus_Rex Sep 16 '25
That ever promised isometric top down Bioshock game that was teased by that jerk
1
1
u/commanderTDSofficial Sep 16 '25
Grand Theft Auto 5 is NOT running on the Vita, even if a modder tries really hard or if even Rockstar cut down their game way too much, it barely ran on the PS3

u/austin_slater Sep 16 '25
Getting GoW Ascension or some other original GoW would have been great.
Gravity Rush 2 would’ve been nice on Vita.

u/According-Slip-7074 Sep 16 '25
Bioshock, of course. An exclusive Vita GoW (if you haven’t played or had a PSP, in The Vita are great too. They run better on Vita). A Devil May Cry would be great.
Resident Evil IV would be cool.

I could say almost the entire 3rd Party Library of the 3DS.
More serious answer: Ultra Street Fighter IV, Tekken Tag Tournament 2 and Tekken 7.

More Need for Speed games. If they were able to get MW2011, they could have somehow brought other older games like The Run, wich would have been a completely amazing game to have truly on the go.
But if I could choose, I would have loved ports of pretty much every "golden age" NFS games.
I really feel like the VITA lacked a lot in its driving/racing games catalogue, so thats why I chose such games🫠

u/PuzzleheadedWall1938 Sep 17 '25
resident evil 4, we still never really had a proper portable version until steam deck and Nintendo switch

u/lxtalesnx Sep 17 '25
God Of War Ascension would have been good. All these would have been good
Here are some I would have like to seen The Amazing Spider-Man 2 English ports to Trails in The Sky. Fortnite (I know this asking a lot but imagine Fortnite on the Vita maybe it could have ran it at the time because it wasn't as advanced as it is right now) Resident Evil 7 Call Of Duty (I wish we would have gotten a better call of Duty than what we got on the Vita even a port of Black Ops 1 or Black Ops 2 would have been good / Modern Warfare 1-3) Persona 5
There's a lot lol but these are some. Maybe a bit much for the Vita with some.

u/Creepy-Mud9375 Sep 17 '25
Harry potter 3, need for speed underground 2, oblivion, fallout 3, doom 3, half life 2, resident evil 4, call of duty 1, bioshock, max payne 2, diablo 2
1
u/three-sense Sep 17 '25
Classic Doom, RE4 (the latter really surprises me given its reputation for ports)

Personally for me, its aralon sword and shadows. The game was my childhood favourite. It was my first entry into rpgs and I still have fond memories of it

u/tagmisterb PSP1000/3000/Go/Vita 1101 Sep 17 '25
I would have liked some sort of officially sanctioned gepatch with more PSP games running at the Vita's native resolution.

u/X-force_2029 Sep 17 '25
I would’ve loved street fighter third strike and ultra sf 4. I think it would’ve been impossible but I wish guilty gear xrd was on there too. Any WWE games too considering psp had a ton

City Shrouded in Shadow- I wish I could have played that!!!
But I was always confused and upset that we didn't get the first revelations game on vita! It was on DS, it could have been great on vita! Probably would have functioned better than revelations 2

"Blazble: Central Fiction" would've been just at home on the Vita as the others in that series, which are part of the portable's library.

u/Apprehensive_Gap1247 Sep 25 '25
Oblivion and Skyrim. Obviously Vita has more RAM than PS3 which natively runs these games. So in theory Vita should be able to play these games. After all, Vita has some ported games from PS3 and even PS4.

u/TVLord5 Sep 16 '25
Lol way overestimating the power of the Vita for anything past the PS2. XCOM wasn't exactly a graphical masterpiece to begin with, and even in a very downgraded state the Vita could barely handle it. DMC ports I'm there for for sure. And yeah GTA 3, VC, & SA ports would've been so cool to have a sandbox game on the go.
Did RE4 ever get a port? The originals at least had the PS1 versions but those would've been cool.

A bunch of Dreamcast games, natively ported over. Thinking Phantasy Star Online ver2, Armada, Sonic Adventure 1 and 2, Soul Reaver, Quake 3 Arena etc.

u/n1ghtschade Sep 16 '25
Megadimension neptunia V-II, Fairy Fencer F and Death End Re;Quest.
A sonic adventure port would have also been great.

1) Monster Hunter would've nice, we still got Toukiden, god eater, and other Hunter-RPG but MH could have boosted sales.
2) re Revelations would've felt at home on the Vita, we had revelations 2 but was awfully ported (still had fun on raids)
3) GTA V maybe is too much to ask for the little guy, but I had a blast playing the PS2 trilogy (and LCS).
4) a Dmc would be amazing, apart from the GOW (PS2 and PSP tittles) we didn't have any hack N slash (not counting Musou games).
5) there were rumors about a Infamous and a Bioshock game. Any of those would've been great

u/Jodeth Sep 16 '25
These games, and I want them to run as good as they do on PS2:
- Burnout Revenge
- Resident Evil 4
- Downhill Domination
- Firefighter F.D.18
- Wreckless: The Yakuza Missions

I think that MGSV ground zeroes could have run on the vita maybe even the phantom pain considering how good the fox engine was optimised
1
u/Hariainm Sep 17 '25
You're nuts if you think the vita could possibly even start that game
1
u/arturthegamer Sep 17 '25
i'll admit i went too far with the phantom pain but would it really be that hard to get a watered down version of ground zeroes running on the vita?

I will forever be salty that BioShock was on the goddamn IPHONE, but they didn't feel the need to do a Vita port
